Filipino coaches are really weak in defending the 3

They could have compensated it by defending the paint well. I mean the 2's. That's how Tim Cone were able to beat Latvia and New Zealand and made Georgia miserable. Sure, Gilas were giving them free room to shoot threes but at what cost? Less production in the paint.

Kots Leo at it again. He' may as well be drawing his plays on clay tablets, that's how behind he is.

I don't expect too much for SMB.. they are trash in EASL.. my concern right now is the chances of meralco... With Ryukyu already qualified at 4-1.. all teams in their group have equal chances to qualify.. Meralco have to win their last two games to qualify in final 4 round..

Look at the remaining opponents of the other 4 teams in Group B

KCC Egis (1-3) - Macau and New Taipei
Macau (2-3) - KCC
Meralco (2-2) - Ryukyu and New Taipei
New Taipei (2-2) - KCC and Meralco

So Macau and KCC will have a match on January 15.. the loser there will be automatically out of contention, assuming New Taipei will beat KCC on January 21, and Meralco will win vs Ryukyu at home in January 22, that means the match up between Meralco and New Taipei in Taipei on February 12 will be a do or die affair... I hope we all support Meralco in January 22, also hope we fill the arena to support Meralco there, they might not crowd favorites in the PBA, but I think they are deserve to be supported by Filipino fans, let's fill the arena to support Meralco.. And also since Ryukyu already qualified, they might not fill their best players in their final match against meralco to avoid injuries... Can MVP tell TNT to borrow RHJ to replace Kennedy if ever?

Not allowed. I remember someone posted this that brownlee isnt allowed to play with SMB in EASL. Should be the mother club..

So that means Meralco have to stick to their system.. I guess Ryukyu might not field their starters on 22 to rest them since they have to play and to be healthy to their mother league, they are already qualified anyway at finals 4... Meralco might win there (also meralco is undefeated at home)... Crucial game will be against Taipei on February 12.. Newsome will be the first one to defend Jeremy Lin... And they will be heavy underdogs vs Taipei since they will play on the road plus home cooking possible happen especially in calls...

SMB is only there just for a mere appearance, sorry for those paying fans

they don't deserve to watch those pretenders whose mind was not totally on the game.

I think SMB's not built to compete outside the PBA.

This is it actually. SMB was built by Coach Leo to dominate the PBA AFC nothing more and nothing less. Unlike Greg and Japeth, it was never JMF's job to stop the import. This is why they only became champs when they had the import who could match-up against the competition. Without an extraordinary import SMB cannot compete. They could have developed JMF in another way and asked him to defend imports better or defend better on ball screens but that was not their vision.
