If done properly and if not for fiba ruling on eligibility, it will make pba players very viable to play for nt, but sadly elite pba players have other options now due to economic times..

But again Filipinos appreciate parity and they know their basketball they believe top talent in going to Japan can be replaced by deserving players who didnt get the "break" and it will ake the pba not just a feeder league for Pinoy teams in easl..

EASL is the primary league

ABL is secondary much like euro cup

We have produced a number of 6'7+ players in this generation. Kailangan na lang talaga i-develop sila ng maayos. With each new generation getting taller, I expect to see more in the future. We can finally say goodbye to midget ball that Chot loves too much.

Should TNT qualify fir the EASL, Cho really will have a hard time implementing that "midget ball" system, which is basically putting out a 3-guard lineup (and the 3rd guard is usually a 6'1"-6'3" guy) that's so common in Philippine basketball these days. I dunno how that system will work in the EASL. If it gets exposed, though, it will force teams to move on from that kind of lineup.

This only benefits us long run because of korean style basketball, the winning percentage between kbl pba is similar to gilas and korea.. kontrapelo ika nga.. imo the only time we see chots team gets exposed..

I think he (Chot) will not use 3 guard line up in EASL, especially if he has Moore or KJ as his import... I see the line up of Mikey, Pogoy, Moore, Troy and big import will be his starting 5...

Since two or 3 imports is allowed, maybe they will include Kuoame if Terrence Jones is not available. But im still hopefull for a Kuoame and TJ tandem.

The bayan ng superstars and oldest league in Asia should not be afraid to play against anyone.

True, there name as oldest league in Asia will be put to the test. I hope they don't chicken out, because if we succeed, this will be good for our countries basketball and it will also be good for the commercial teams for there brands to be known worldwide.

It will benefit us in the long run, yes. It will make us get used to have to rotate against South Korean offensive systems. The key to beating those offenses is defensive rotations, which only a few PBA teams are used to, like RoS, MERALCO, TNT, and Mags. If more PBA teams get used to facing this kind of system, we can at least be prepared to face it.

And Khobuntin will see more playing time as the 3 in this situation, apart from the wing import.

What i know Kouame will be local status in EASL, since he's naturalized player here, and EASL's eligibility on naturalized is different in the PBA...

I think EASL will allow but at the expense of hiring Asian imports, just like what's currently implemented in B. League. They might even take a second look on the FIBA ineligibles, you know, decrease the allowed slots for it per game, especially if the NP (thru presidential/royal decree) is legitimately a world import material.

Anyway, these are just my speculations. But the clearer the EASL becomes on the eligibility issue, the better. It's going to help PBA representatives in carefully shaping up their roster on a per EASL game basis.

if gilas will join EASL. will the naturalized players be considered as locals? im not sure about the rules on this league.

The EASL in house franchise to play in the PBA?

This makes me sick. The EASL CEO has to sit there and pretend he's enjoying that conversation, but I just feel the cringe that what he envisioned to be the Champions League of Asian basketball is being ruined by a glorified barangay larong-labas in giving two slots to a league that does not have a 100% commitment in agreeing to terms. All-Filipino Cup champion, All-Filipino Cup runner-up... you heard it from the man himself. It's not the EASL's problem that the PBA doesn't allow more foreign players, have roster spots for Asian quota players, and is too stubborn to change their schedules to allow those EASL games while there's an on-going league (it will suck if the B.League/KBL/PLG are willing to adjust while the PBA won't). SMB and TnT with 2 imports in 2019 going up against CBA/B.League teams was very entertaining, I want to see that again. I'm guessing the PBA won't be able to figure it out and the people at EASL will probably be too annoyed and just ditch them after a season or two.

Kaya nga eh, ang simple lang(Champion and Runner up) tapos ginagawa pang komplikado ni Vargas Lol

I'm not DDS, Dilawan or Marcos apologist eh buti pa si BBM he likes the idea of sending PBA teams to EASL while those people from the PBA eh daming dahilan.. watch from 30:00 video.. He was interviewed by respectable sports personality Noli Eala... Please naman Mr. Vargas... But i hope Mr. Eala will interview other presidential candidates.. para walang bayas for his part...

Sorry but Eala is a known Narcos Jr supporter

Mr. Ricky Vargas talking about the board's long discussion on how to send the best team they can assemble for EASL (03:22 mark):

CEO Matt Beyer (in his mind): Ugh.. Here we go again. League champion and runner-up - that's just it. Why make it so complicated ya boomers?..

But i have to concede though, i have the similar stance as the chairman's about the idea of selecting from a top-4. Considering the current season, mine goes like this:

1. Put up a short Super Cup tournament with imports (this would also be the 3rd conference), about a month after the Gov Cup.

2. Contestants will be the semifinalists from the AFC and Gov Cup, or the next best finishers, through combined eliminations W-L record, if one (possibly up to 4) of the SC teams is a SF'ist on both conferences.

Example:

AFC SF'ists: TNT, SMB, Mags, Meralco
Gov Cup: TNT, BGSM, Mags, SMB

SC berths: TNT, SMB, BGSM, Mags, Meralco, plus 3 more teams with best combined W-L elims records between the 2 conferences

3. Seeding: champions and runners-up in one pot (top seeds), then the SF losers/next-best finishers in the other (bottom seeds). Draw lots.

4. QF: top seeded teams would enjoy twice-to-beat, win-once-to-advance advantage.

5. SF and Final: best-of-three series. Finalists will be awarded the EASL slots.

May pagka-complicated na hindi ang naiisip ko na format, but at least it solves the conundrum on which teams to represent the said regional tournament. With PBA not too keen on transitioning to a single-tournament per season format and the conference champions and runners-up would not pass up on the opportunity to win some of the EASL money, i think this is the best compromise.

Paano mo nasabe? I follow Mr. Eala's social media accounts, I don't see any post that he supports BBM.. As far as i know, He and Mr. Mascarinas are good companions and the latter supports Mr. Pacquiao's candidacy.. Mas maniniwala ako if he supports Mr. Pacquiao...

He's been liking BBM posts on Twitter, so ayun.

Exactly. This is crap. Why not just send the champion and runner-up? Or just the All-Filipino and Governors' Cup champions?

This is an opportunity for the PBA's clubs to play against foreign clubs, test their mettle, not to mention expand their market range. Why the hell does there have to be a select team? It's a club competition, not an All-Star contest.

PBA can't promise to send the top 2 teams to EASL, kasi for sure some will be uncooperative.
Kawawang PBA, doesn't even have power on its teams.
