East Asia Super League

here is the thing, a division 1 team can go down as low as division 3 while a division 3 team can go as high as division 1. so i hope mpbl, pba d-league and pba should merge and follow the b. league system of promotion and relegation. that's ideal lang naman.

is pba fiba-sanctioned? just a thought.

Its not. That's why PBA has its own rule. The 12-minute per quarter in the PBA is unlike any other professional basketball league in Asia.

Here's my take, a division 1 team can go down as low as division 3 while a division 3 team can go as high as division 1 in Japanese basketball because of the presence of imports in all the Japanese leagues. The imports compensate for the disparity of local talents between div. 1 & div. 2 & 3 teams.

he's not comparing manzo handles. but more of dribble, dribble and dribble for almost 24 secs..

Look at the previous poster, he said that Romeo has an NBA like handles, anyway OA naman na 24 seconds ang pagdidribble. May clear out naman na iso play kaya niya ginagawa yun. That's his way of attacking the defense and getting his rhythm why bash that guy? And his jumper is money compared to a Kiefer or Paul Lee who does the same thing of manuevering the defense but has a so-so pull-up jumpers.

yep.. if you follow uaap, you know what analyzed is saying about manzo’s over dribble.. he’s not saying manzo has the same handles with romeo but the dribble dribble part.. anyway.. i’m not against romeo getting to gilas roster, but the problem lies on tnt boys who wanted him out sa tnt..

NBA level handles. Unfortunately the rest of his game is not. And he's only 6 feet or so. To be fair a lot of NBA players have sub par ball handling.. Romeo's got better handles than most of the Suns PGs last season

Dribble dribble like Helterbrand? Unfortunately he's not alone. A lot of our guys are like that

People want Romeo for showtime, but if that showtime becomes a 1 man show, without the other Gilas players not getting the ball as much and it results to a loss, then comes the bashing. If the new coach, knows how to use him then fine, but if the coach decided he doesn't fit his system, then hopefully the coach doesn't get the hate for not getting a popular productive player.

The problem with the TnT boys, one is retired from Gilas, and the 2 are not that good enough to warrant Romeo's exclusion. Sana talaga si Tab ulit, so we might see this matured version of Romeo being integrated again on his system.

He was measured at 5'9.5 without shoes.

sorry, my bad lol. At least a section of this forum believes that..

NBA level handles, elite level shot making

If thats the case he ahould be in the NBA then... His shotmaking is actually not elite against elite opposition.. He has problem with consistency, he had 19 pts against France bit only 5 points against NZ last OQT... Romeo is not just not tall but also not long, thereby being taken advantage by the oppostion on defense.. Di labg naman puro scoring ang basketball, you sbould show that hou can defend also..

2 games are too little sample size to gauge consistency. You have to look for tournaments where there are at least 4 or 5 games played and from there we can better gauge his consistency. As for his defense, you seem to repulse the fact that he is actually a decent defnder now. Look at his two games in the recent East Asia super. He can stay in front of his man. He rarely gets blown by and opposing players have difficulty turning the corner. He might be short, but you rather have the offensive player shoot in front of you rather than be behind him trying to contest his layup. Our taller guards actually are easily blown by, except for Bolick and Ravena.

To be clear, I'm not vouching for his inclusion in Gilas. I can see potential in our younger guys, and they happen to be considerably taller than Romeo. For me, whether or not Romeo plays again for Gilas, our guard position is secure.

All 30 NBA teams are free to do a Baba, for Romeo, any takers, kahit tryout lang? Ano conspiracy descrimatation excuse na naman.

Oa mo naman. Handle lang kinukumpara, nba tryout na kagad. Wala naman nagsasabi na he should be in the NBA.

Oh sorry, I thought that's what some where suggesting, if it's handle lang diba ang daming naman And1 or globetrotter na ganoon? Does it mean anything?

Why so much hate with the guy? Comparing PH to Japan in terms of lobbying with NBA team is ridiculous. As everyone knows there is also lot of politics, money involves in NBA and not only with talent and skills alone. Can we just appreciate our pinoy players with their talent and skills.

Oh, we do not withhold appreciation where it is due. As for Romeo? well, he's a very divisive figure. Is he a good player? His UAAP and PBA career speaks for itself. Is he NBA material? His international career speaks for itself as well.

Yup. Also, is Romeo even trying hard to get into an NBA Scene? Yung tipong sisimulan niya sa nba summer league? If Romeo has an agent like Parks na may connections stateside for sure malalakad yan. And the guts to compare his situation to a scrub like Baba? lol again.

Lol Romeo has got to be one of the most polarizing player here in IBN. Very good offensive player with lots of holes in his game. Hati ang posters. Hehe

I'm still giving him props because I can see he's been working on his weaknessess. May effort to improve. Do not know him personally but I can conclude he's a gym rat. It takes tons of hours and repetition to be able to reach that level of handles and 3 point shooting.
