Domantas Sabonis thread

OK, you are literally too stupid to understand that there are RG lists. There are MVP race, rookie race, and plenty of lists and people care about it.

You wouldn't expect to see Domas among top 10 rim protectors, but he's there. Domas making guys to shoot 11.7% lower than they usually should under the rim. Giannis makes it even 17% lower. We can see that Domas is competing with Markannen and Porzingis at this point. Anyway, nice to see that Sabonis became better at basically every component of the game:

How about that? Basically Domas needed 44 games with Kings jerseys that he would do crazy thing as such:

Dude...

Domantas Sabonis this season:
— 18.0 PTS, 12.0 REB, 6.4 PAD
— 62/40/72%
— 1st NBA in double-doubles
— 1st NBA in total rebounds
— 1st NBA in the number of games in 10-10-5 and in 20-20-5

Sabonis broke Kings 2 games rebounding record. He snatched 44 boards in two games, previously best is DeMarcus Cousins with 41.

Most triple-doubles w/ 20+ REB in NBA (since 1982)

Nikola Jokic - 5
DOMAS SABONIS - 3
DeMarcus Cousins - 3
Russell Westbrook - 3
Mark Eaton - 3
Hakeem Olajuwon - 2
Fat Lever - 2

Domas almost there to top NBA in rebounding. He's No1 in total rebounds.

And look at this. Sabonis gets trippled:

Who's gonna shoot the rock in the NT when Sabonis will attract 2-3 defenders? I know Grigonis can shoot. Hopefully Jokubaitis will be more chilled and accurate with his shot already. Ulanovas shoots 40.6% in EL this season which is promising. Maybe we should also test what Sirvydis got? And please, don't take 15% kinda shooter in the NT R. Giedraitis....He has been trash even since 2019...

We need that "Sabinis centric offense" in the NT. 2023 should be the first season when Sabonis starts at 5 and he takes the most shots and FTs in the tournament of all players. We have to build around 3rd best center in the planet (after Jokic, Embiid).

The problem off course ATM is this - we have no shooters. Only Grigonis qualifies as a shooter in entire roster.

Anyway, Domas is incredible ATM.

1st player with 75 rebounds and 30 assists over a 4-game span since Wes Unseld in 1970.
The only other players to accomplish this feat are Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell & Maurice Stokes.

Chamberlain, Bill Russell...OK, pretty decent company...

And he shoots 42% threes now...

Sabonis came to Sacramento and made a trashy team the best offensive team in the league. I mean, dude, how big is that.

Didn't know Sabonis is head coach and general manager now

...to Sacramento (as the main piece) and made...

Sabonis IN, Fox OUT is the best King's offensive rating

Nothing to take from Fox who is a very good player, but Sabonis makes others better.

Las time i check last season Sabonis and Fox was already in Kings and they still was loosing. You need perfect role players for them otherwise it wont work.

Diffrence between Kings 2022 and Kings 2023 are these 3 players:

K.Huerter 15,4pts
K.Murray 12,3pts
M.Monk 14,2pts and head coach M.Brown

This 3 2022 summer new editions +coach made Kings from bottom 5 west team to first round team.

Good thing for Sabonis all 3 are good shooters. Domas have so much space inside when former Warriors assistant coach for manny years came and made spreading floor the right way priority.

Domas feels like fish in water when have so much space inside and 4 shooters around him. I see offensive similiarities how Draymond finds shooters in Warriors to Sabonis in Kings.

Former Warriors coach made big diffrence in this loosing Kings environment atleast early on.

All those are good moves, but Kings made a huge trade for Sabonis and that was the key for their transformation. Neither of these 3 role players would be as good if there was no Sabonis. And Sabonis got better himself. I think Sabonis truly benefited from NT experience. Precision that he learned playing in FIBA helps him in NBA to be more efficient. He used to miss many jimmies and to be a bit careless with the ball. Now his concentration is at another level. You can see in EB how he developed compared to 2 first games and how he improved later on. This makes me positive that we will more and more reliable Sabonis in the NT too going to his next 4-5.

Take yesterday game 4 diffrent Kings players scored 20pts 4 diffrent players ! that insane and comming with huge Domas triple double. Kings top 5 player are proffesional scorers, they would score anywhere. But they play only on one side of the floor thats why they arent known as winning players.

Kings is nr 1 offensive team in entire nba after 30 games. They have lots of dudes who can score, but defensively they are bad bottom 6 team . They bad in rebounding too because plays small dudes around Domas. They sound like west Nets version :) Only dont have top 5 calibre superstar.

Playoofs they gonna get punished for not playing defence and relying only on offence, will get pounded under basket playing SF Barnes 2m03 as PF alot.

What works flying form what city to other city with no prepraration in regular season, doesnt mean it will work in playoofs when teams prepare for you and take away shit team like and attack where opponnet is weak.

How much Domas improved is unclear, playing situation perfect for him right now. He never was alone by himself under basket there always was Turner/Valanciunas near him.

Sabonis played comfortable 5 in Indiana. Turner never was in his way. Again, he takes 10 shots in Kings. In Indiana he was taking 14. You blame me that I always make projections, but you never know how to take current change :) Sabonis snatched 77 rebounds and dished 33 assists over his last 4 games. The last time anyone did that was Bill Russel in 1969. It's NBA regular season, not the basketball court outside your home.

Besides. We do know Sabonis improved cause he provided 15pts/20eff kinda game against Spain in 8finals EB. Could be a bit better, but nevertheless the best Lithuanian player.

To me the biggest surprise that Sabonis is playing solid D recently. I mean not like he's surviving in the D, but actually makes good reads and truly impacts the D. It's like his dad's IQ coming down to him as he growing into his prime. I'm starting to think we can make some stops playing Sabonis at 5 and giving him defensively competent 4 next to him, be it Sedekerskis/Ulanovas/Tubelis. Even in EB at times Domas already showed good things defensively, I think in 2023 we'll see even more of that:

Joke's on Joker :D What a night! Great win by one point from both of our big fellas ;)

P.S. Hope Sabonis hand is alright, cause my League Pass goes to waste otherwise

Sabonis is so good at the moment. He made some impressive stops against Jokic, including one of the key shots at the end.

Joker was pretty boring tonight tbh. 40 pts don't mean much when you have a second tier player like Saboner making 31 pts and winning against you in the final seconds and you're the one to blame for it.
