Do you think Serbia can dominate European basketball once again ?

I dont think "stars" will ever play for Serbia again. Has Stojakovic retired from NT ? Probably has. Will Pavlovic ever play for Serbia ? Probably not. Will Jaric play for NT again ? Dont think so....

BTW Sofo is an incredible player. Love that guy.If he could only play more minutes...
I don't think neither Pavlovic nor Jaric can do any better than the young guys who played this tournament. Stojakovic, if healthy, is another story.

Anyway as Morente said Yugoslavia has a great basketball history.Greatest in Europe (and the rest of the world exc. US ) together with SSSR.Probably even greater then SSSR.

Besides didnt some people in Croatia say Aco Petrović is a Serb, meaning that his brother Dražen was also of Serbian origin.Trully one of the greatest basketball players in the world.

The main point is that we are waiting on more talented players to grow up...Musli, Miljenovic and Djekic are even bigger prospects than those guys which have finished on 2nd place yesterday...

Actually we are fighting against time...
People, not only serbians, have a tendency to overrate serbian talents. Milicic, Perovic, Tripkovic.. all were going to be huge stars. Honestly i don't expect Musli to become the reference everyone talks about, haven't seen enough of Djekic or Miljenovic yet.

I know Serbians are very happy right now, but I don't see very polite claiming that your team has the best future in Europe, that they are the best historycal team (not the topic) and that will be a treat in Turkey. Also, having that huge expectations could be bad for such a young group; they were good as the underdogs, let see if they can play with the pressure of being one of the favourites and other teams being well prepared against them. Team is too young now and could take them some years to develop to their full potential.

I'm not saying they will be favorites in Turkey.God knows what will happen in Turkey.Maybe even Spaniards won't be favorites in Turkey, for exp. if Pau does not play. There r great teams out there, esp. Argentina, maybe Puerto Rico also. I would be happy if they would be serious contenders.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dražen_Petrović

Dražen Petrović (Serbian Cyrillic: Дражен Петровић ), (October 22, 1964 – June 7, 1993) was a Yugoslav and Croatian basketball player of Serbian origin.

If their grandmother is of serbian origin that means their father or mother is also of serbian origin. :) :) :)

"Born in Šibenik, a city in Dalmatia, in the former Yugoslavia, Dražen Petrović was the second child of Jovan and Biserka Petrović. The couple's first child, Aleksandar, would be the first one to tread the basketball path, providing a lead for young Petrović to follow.

He was the close cousin of great Serbian baketball player Dejan Bodiroga. Dejan's grandmother (on his father's side) and Drazen's grandfather (also on his father's side) are brother and sister, making Bodiroga and Petrović second cousins."

Jovan Petrović sounds Serbian to me.

Yes we do share achievements with Croatia,Slovenia but most of those guys in those NTs were Serbs.Besides we have won gold medals without Slovenia,Croatia,Bosnia,Macedonia.

And now even without Montenegro.

yes, most of them were sebs, but especialy croats had very big ifluance. roughly Serbs 45-55%, Croats 35-40% rest were others so it't cannot be count as yours:p

Thats true.Mostly Serbs and Croats, but seems Montenegrians have (also had) great basketball players too.

Get over the Petrovic thing, he chose to play for Croatia so he is croat with serbian blood in him from his dads side but his mum is croatian, he chose the side wear he is born. Marko Popovic is also another player that has Serbian blood his father was a basketballer also from Montenegro my father tells me.

Its like in football, Dado Prso and Goran Vlaovic are Serbs that played for Croatia.

RIP DRAZEN! leave him alone

That's just our fucking mentality, before this tournament nobody dared to speak about Serbia's placement. Many expected from them to fail, just to feed their sick ego and now there are many posters here making enormous pressure on this talented team, wanting gold from them in near future tournaments.
We need to stay on earth, this is huge success and I'm happy like a child, but this is just beginning of one team and we have to give them real support not some fake boost, that will transfer into hysteria and hatred if they maybe not succeed. And we all know that we are capable of doing such things.

I really love this guys, they are our future, not some Rakočevićs and Stojakovićs. I believe in them, they are fighters and winners, but it is too early to speak of golds and medal streaks. Not to even mention that arrogant word domination, which is pure bullshit in nowadays modern basketball.

Tnx. Next time it will not be 20 point margin against Spain i hope, altought these guys were young and very tired this time. Next time will be better.

Pohani Komarac start a topic about croatian basketball i have been very disappointed with them, they have potential but are shocking its sad to see, i dont know what the problem is honestly.

they have potential

Their prospects didnt play on this tournament...Repesa decided to use payers which have 32,33,35 years instead of promissing kids...Also one of their youngest centers in this team said that he is too old and that he doesnt want to play for NT anymore...

This silver medal may actually work in a negative way for the Serbian team..I was thinking about this yesterday when I was reading how excited Serbs were after this tournament.

When Duda insists that the goal of this team is medal at the Olympics..I think we should listen...he is an old fox he knows what he is talking about.

Somehow i think that the Serbs (Duda and the team), with the silver medal in hand, will have major issues if the Serbian team doesnt bring any medal next year...The expectations now are really high.. i was actually taken back from the extend of this.

If, in this tournament, Serbian team performed as expected and had a respectable tournament but not a great one, no one would complain much about it. The goal is medal at the olympics..but now..If they fail to bring a medal next year they would be slaughtered by the media..

I doubt they will dominate like Spain has been doing in the last few years. But they should get successful results by some intervals. Teodosic, alone, just not enough for domination from this new generation. I don't think the rest are that special. Every national team has an extremely special player so they will be successful but they won't dominate.
