Detroit Pistons thread

Brandon Jennings: 24 points and 21 ASSISTS! He is in elite company with Magic Johnson and John Stockton to have 20+ points and 20+ assists in 35 mins or less.

Pistons got Reggie Jackson and welcomes back Tayshaun Prince. In the off-season, they can pursue Draymond Green who stated a couple of times that he would like to be a Pistons.

Great comeback by Detroit against Memphis in the 2nd half. They outworked the Memphis signature boxing out and forced the pace of the game where Memphis lost its footing as uptempo is unfamiliar territory for them. In the 4th quarter, Memphis looked very tired.

Reggie Jackson: 23 Pts, 2 Reb, 20 Ast, 1 Stl. Plus I like how Caldwell-Pope is learning that he need not work so hard in getting shots, he can rotate quickly to get found for easy scoring. He seems to be getting into the flow of the NBA, wherein he used to be stuck on neutral triple threat everytime he touches the ball. Most of the time it was a forced or contested shot. Uptempo, Caldwell-Pope can thrive as he is athletic.

Reggie Jackson another triple double. This sparks hopes for some serious improvements for the Pistons next season where their strong winning streak 2 months back impressed the NBA... That is until Jennings went down with a season ending injury. A Jennings / Jackson back-court can work.

From what I'm hearing Greg Monroe will likely not be returning to Detroit next season. Leaves a big hole at the 4 spot but he wasn't really ideal for SVG's offense because he can't really space the floor. The Pistons also acquired Ilyasova from the Bucks a few days ago. (I think I spelled that right.)

Detroit active tonight with their pick and roll measure as Drummond and Morris are active in pulling up way into the baseline to set screens and go for a quick motion inward to the basket. In a way, helps them become uptempo in a half-court setting.

Monster game and monster start of the season for Andre Drummond. Tonight: 29 and 27 for Drummond whilst Reggie Jackson kept attacking even if Portland shrunk to a zone.

Crazy. Drummond averages 20/20 per game. I always thought he's limited in terms of skill and so on, but he just putting up monster numbers with his super motor and athleticism. If he can keep it up, he's the next true super star big in the NBA which lacked that kinda of players since Shaq I think.

Very true, Drummond is shooting at a high percentage as well. He works well with the offense that gets him the ball without the need of him demanding it via post up.

Two plays I remember for Drummond as he is emerging to be perhaps the best big man in the east this season:

1. Crossover that made Chris Paul stumble (perhaps flop)
2. Tonight's half-court splash to beat the buzzer vs Boston as time expired for the first half

Don't usually post during the season, mostly because we've been terrible for a good while, but this season has been definitely refreshing. Can't remember the last time we had a potential all star starter, even during the good years of the mid 2000s we didn't have a super star potential guy, Andre Drummond is fully coming into his own.

20-16, naturally the year we get good is the year the east gets good, otherwise I'd have us as a playoff lock. As it stands I'm quietly hoping for 46-36 and something that's not the 8th seed.

Pistons clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2009!!! :D

Bring on the Cavs (or small chance of Raptors!)

Pistons owner Tom Gores basically essentially just announced that he wants KCP back at any cost. That's pretty strong support but well-deserved with the way KCP has blossomed into such an important two-way player. You all saw how my Sixers were able to beat the Pistons even without Embiid when KCP was out.

So I could talk about a lot of things in this bump, but honestly the thing that makes me happiest. Is Andre Drummond can now hit free throws.

Got a standing ovation tonight and he deserved it 14-16 from the line, for the season he's gone from a 30 odd percent shooter from the line to an 80+ that's insane.

...oh and the Pistons move to 6-3. That too.:p

I'd like to know what you think of Tobias Harris so far this season, Dtown. It seems like getting rid of Marcus freed him up to play his game more offensively but do you think he can keep it up and be that second frontcourt scorer to complement Drummond and free up space for him down low?

The nights when he's on, I feel he's our best offensive weapon. He's not that consistent yet, but I do like him a great deal. If Drummond can keep up his FT's (which has massive implications, no more hack a drummond, he can play in 4th qs, he can be more aggressive in the paint) I could honestly see him being the leagues MIP (Most Improved Player),and if Tobias keeps doing what he's doing the Pistons will be rather entertaining.

Fair enough. It should be very interesting to see what happens as the season goes on. You guys have some very good pieces.

Pistons go 5-0 on their homestand and go to 10-3, tied for the second best record in the league. Midwest roadtrip coming up that may give a better idea of how good they are. Milwaukee, Indiana, and Minnesota are all decent to good teams.

Yeah the Central minus Chicago -and so far Cleveland- has been very impressive. Milwaukee just got even better and you and Indiana have been absolutely killing it.
