It really hurts that Sarıca was not brave enough to add this roster Berk, Okben, Ege, Emircan instead of Doğuş, Göksenin, Erkan, Sertaç...

Everybody knows that these guys are non-factors. Kids at least would fight and be glimmer of hope for the future. Really pity...

+1

Also with Ersan, Bobby, Yurtseven this could have been a much more balanced team with a bigger offensive firepower. It's a bad luck and a lack of bravery of the coaching stuff here but at least we qualified to the next stage.

If we somehow win against Latvia tomorrow we are most likely playing against Croatia which most people prefer instead of Spain. :D

They won't be able to walk against Latvia tomorrow. Great overall effort again (to beat the world power Belgium, at home, but we'll take it :))

Korkmaz, Sipahi, Erden and Jonathan Tabu were our best players today.

There is a day break. Game is on Thursday

You are unfair to kids enişte. Beating any team in Eurobasket with young trio is important and promising.

It was a hard win but even if Belgium is not one of the favorites and a big basketball nation they are still a team that can make a surprize against many teams in the tournament. In the preparation games they won against Spain and Italy (?) which shows that they are not as bad as many people might think. Right now in Europe there is a lot of good quality players and teams that in a good day for them can win against anyone- we saw it with Finland tonight, Georgia against Lithuania, we see how good Latvia is etc. If we exclude Great Britain, Romania, Hungary and Iceland every other team in the tournament has a chance to play a close game against anyone or to upset a favorite.

Turkey with a very limited team so far lost two close games against Russia and Serbia and won against Britain and Belgium. If it somehow wins against Latvia (with great players like Porzingod, the Bertrans brothers, Strelnieks, Timma, Smits) who are the favorites in the game it will be a great morale boost for the players. The good news is that we will have a day off and more time to rest and prepare for the game against them.

i forgot about it, yes. that's gonna help immensely, those are young guys.

Nah, I would actually hug them if I could, they did their best (all tournament long) and fully deserve the praise. Not a single complaint on them.

But the situation is disappointing in terms of our country's bball level. We are realistically downgraded to 3rd tier in Europe (8th to 16th). Hope it's temporary. this core shows they can pull us back to 1st or 2nd level if they can be properly complemented.

Most of us on IBN are on the same page on team's future direction. I really hope the TBF is, as well.

I'll make a bold statement and say the Spain is probably better matchup for this Turkish team than Croatia. Playing against this Croatian team is like using old shotgun - you don't know if it will shoot or not, but they can be certain what to expect from Spain and I'm sure Turkish players would be more motivated, while they can underestimate Croatia.

Belgium is very underrated, not trying to add value to the win, just honest opinion, they have players that play at a very decent level in euro comps, are experienced. It is a team you have to beat. I think we can also say they were in a tough group, I could imagine them doing well in another easier group.

I 'll say this much, any team from now on will not under estimate us. We have a solid compact team, youthful and energetic, add to that home crowd. If we had just a little more quality a medal wouldn't have been out of the question, after the first 5 or so players in the roster the quality drops off significantly, I mean Baris Hersek, come on now, and a 34 year old Veyseloglu(although i liked him here, not saying he's scrub) a young player in their place for example would have been a great investment for the future :( considering what we have here we are doing exceedingly well.

No thanks :) I'll take a mentally brittle Croatia any day
