Important game for both teams with the top spot in Group E on the line.

Uncertainties still abound on Blatche's condition, and he may not be able to get his full WC form in time for this game. Nonetheless, the Filipinos and Blatche still found a way to win against an upstart Japan who led by as many as 10 points in the first half.

On the other hand, Iran is getting strong after a 55-point demolition of Hong Kong.

Another important game in Group E is the Palestine-Japan game, which may determine the fate of all the teams in Group E coming into the final day of Round 2.

This isn't a logical or popular choice, but I strongly feel Gilas will take this by 18 points.

18 points is quite a considerable margin against a team like Iran... For me any win even if it's by 1 point would be mighty impressive...

I do know that coach Tab has prepared his squad well for this game... but still Iran is one tough team to beat with such a deep bench

And Blatche's condition still uncertain. BTW, why did you suggest Blatche should rest in this game? I understand Blatche's condition isn't certain at this point, but I want to know your reasons first before I comment further.

I mentioned Blatche should rest cuz I noticed he was limping and so he would be ready for future games.. Cuz risking to play a hobbled Blatche might worsen his ankle injury and if that's the case then Philippines chances of competing are much less... Also this could benefit Philippines if the teams meet later on in the tournament so as not to expose all

Iran has'nt been troubled in this tournament so far maybe a surprise for them in this game

It makes sense for him to rest. If we do make the semis or finals - we will need his services. I think we can spare a game.

Finally a true test for our team, as we meet one of the heavy favorites of the tournament... I hope this is a tough and close game and our boys feel the pressure tomorrow... I wouldn't mind a loss here if it's a wake up call for the later stages.

BTW all we want is Lebanon in the quarters ;)

I think universe will conspire and will give you your desired match in QF - IRI v. LIB.

If Blatche is injured and will only play a 50-year-old Shaquille Oneal game then it's better for him to rest. Also, if our shooters hit their 3s then we will have a chance of winning. Otherwise, it's your game.

I believe that we will win :(

We've prepared for this game for a while now though, so i think our boys will come prepared even if Blatche is injured.

It'll be interesting how Gilas will fare against the Iranian zone D. I hope we'll shoot like we did vs HK.

A PHI-LIB QF matchup would mean a rematch between Tab Baldwin and Veselin Matic.

IIRC, Baldwin led Jordan to an upset win over a Matic-led Iran in 2009.

We still prefer Qatar in the QF though.
