I've seen the UAE national team countless times. ( I live there:D) And let me tell you UAE is nothing to laugh at, they are surprisingly athletic it's just they lack bball IQ. So if China looks at this as a practice game, they're in for some problems. I'm calling it China wins by 15.

As for Philippines vs Bahrain It's been said that Gilas plays to the level of their competition. I won't be surprised if Bahrain is leading by the half. That said Gilas always owns the 3rd quarter. So Philippines by 8.

UAE have a young team but they have some really good talented players who are greatly improving... One guy who's really been impressive who I watched playing in the Arab Champions Cup and in the UAE NT vs. Duke was Rashed Al Zaabi (188-G-88)... The guy is very athletic (awesome vertical leap), great ball handling skills and can shoot as well as having great penetration to the basket.

Philippines will still win the game but it won't be an easy task...I'm expecting a 12 point win for the Philippines.

As for China, I believe they will clobber Bahrain by 33 points ;)

UAE is not that Bad team ,they are not experienced but they can do some impact

but at the end Phillipines and China for Sure will win !

UAE will give the Philippines problems...they always have. 1990 Asiad they almost upset the team (RP won by only 5 after being down for a lot of the game)...and I believe in 2002 they gave the team problems too...and along with the fact that Kuwait gave the team problems in the 2010 Asiad, I expect it to be physical and tough throughout, with the Philippines winning by a max of 23 points because they make a big run at the end.

Philippines will win this.. Although i predict that there will be a moment of frustration and stress for the fans because Philippines, as they always do even against Malaysia, will play according to the level of their opponents..

i'd be really disappointed if the Philippines don't win by 30 or more. It's just UAE but the Philippines is 12-man deep, we should send a message to other teams that we mean business in this tournament (well specifically message to China for tomorrow's tiff against the hosts)

But I think we will struggle in this game in the first 2 quarters. I'm expecting that Coach Toro is going to have some experimenting going on as well as more playing time for the 3 TnT players to gel with their teammates. But a 30pt win is not that impossible considering the fact that we play extremely well during 3rd quarters in some the games that we played.

Agreed. But then again TNT + others would be a mismatch against this UAE team. My point is...

Kill 'em!

If they'll be aggressive from the get-go they'll be there killing it. :D With or without chemistry. The game of basketball is sometimes all about how the team is aggressive during games even if the opponents are somewhat mediocre. :p

hmm interesting facts at goalzz.com.. unfortunately these probably were the days when the Philippines didn't take the competition seriously. the governing body must've sent some incompetent farm team to represent the PHilippines..
LOL! Well, judging from your team's performances in 1995 and 1999, it's not surprising the UAE defeated you on both occasions. But I remember the UAE having a decent basketball team less than 10 years ago, so they are gradually improving, in my opinion. They won two Gulf championships between 2002 and 2007, I think, but their regional reputation was largely overshadowed by Qatar's super team of naturalized players. :p

UAE vs. Duke was on TV over here. The UAE team was pretty awful. They had some athletic guys but they were really undersized and had an unrefined game. Philippines should win easily.

So easy i'll cut my own balls off i the Philippines manages to lose this one.

PHILLIPINE vs UAE..Basketball on a low level.

Agree.
there must be plenty of good food...in the UAE. Look at the centers...all you can eat & buffet written on their necks.

Pinas played better in the second quarter, maybe we can see them playing with full force in the third.
