Day 1, Group D: Lebanon vs. Jordan

I hope that I'm wrong, but since Fadi changed his mind and joined to play with the NT, I see him lazy depressed and with a careless face. You say he almost made a triple double against Korea, I say look how many easy shots(used to be for him) he missed. He made 9 assists, he should thank Matt for that.

Why did the players stay still on offence ?
Why there were no help screens from the Lebanese side?
Rolando Howell would have been a better selection for naturalization , at least he can rebound and block shot. Even though we need a taller guy to play as a center.

Mario Abboud only played the west Asia club qualifiers and the Lebanese finals against Riyadi but he showed a good level, and for sure plays better basketball than Kanaan and Ferris.

wished that Roy smaha and jihad el Murr were with the Lebanese selection.

Dragan has a lot of work to do
Fadi plays as if he's 45 years old
Rony could not create a play
Vroman wants to play alone
No box out.

hope we qualify to the semi's or even win the 3rd-4th place, but it is hard

I think there's a possibility that Vroman was selected with the smart gilas developmental team in the minds of the lebanese basketball authorities. In the Asian Cup, the college players of Philippines(smart gilas) led by future naturalized filipino prospect CJ Giles convincingly won over the lebanese club composed of 4 current national team players and maybe 4 former national team players and 2(?) imports. However, the same bunch of college players was beaten by a Vroman-led Iran who scored 44 points in that game. Hence, the conclusion is that Vroman is good because he singlehandedly destroyed the college boys which destroyed a lebanon team with imports. as it turned out, Vroman is only effective against smaller players.

How to avoid China in the Semi Final???

Group F
1- China
2- Jordan
3- Lebanon
4- Qatar
Group E
1- Iran or Korea
2- Korea or Iran
3- Taiwan
4- Philipines

QF
China VS Philipines
Jordan VS Taiwan
Lebanon VS Korea or Iran
Qatar VS Iran or Korea

In this case Lebanon VS China in Semi Finals

Look at Quarter finals again.
QF
China VS Philipines
Jordan VS Taiwan
Lebanon VS Korea or Iran
Qatar VS Iran or Korea

So this means that Lebanon doesn’t know its opponent in the QF (Iran or Korea), which have the same Level.
So, Lebanon will face one of these two team if it ends the second round 3rd or 4th.
So let’s try being 4th in the group.
So the QF will be like this:
-China VS Philipines
-Jordan VS Taiwan
-Qatar Vs Iran or Korea
-Lebanon VS Iran or Korea ( Same as if we are 3rd)

New Semifinal:
China VS Qatar or Iran or Korea
Jordan VS Lebanon or Iran or Korea

In this case we have a same level QF against Iran or Korea, but in the semifinal we avoided IChina.

So everything is possible if we can manage to play real Basketball.

*First Congrats for jordan cuz they deserve to win today.........
Second, its normal to say this when u know that if lebanon give 75% of their real level they would have won by 20 points but today we gave -10% of our real level... Ali mahmoud was the only good player and the others especially Vroman were playing veryyyyyyy baddddd... NO DEFENSE, NO INSIDE GAMe ( iwe have vroman matt and fadi and we couldn't penetrate to the basket as we used to do plus we have brian and matt ( best 3 pointers we didn't help them to shoot ) Jordan played their best defense ever and i wish them luck.....hard luck for lebanon and i wish this lose will be a turning point and will help us wake up and play our best, cuz if we played our best , if played for the jersy for LEBANON we can do the impossible and I hope we do........
U must remember that in 2007 we lost our first game against japan, and then won 6 tough games agianst iran, qatar, kaz and korea and we reached the final ......

*if there was no surprises the schedule in 2nd round will be like this:

Lebanon vs Qatar 2 pm on monday
Lebanon vs China 11 am on tuesday
Lebanon vs Kaz 4 pm on wednesday

IF WE WANT TO AVOID PLAYING CHINA IN SEMIS:
we must lose against qatar and win against Kaz if we lost against china OR win all matches ( i think raza will play to win all matches in this case we will win against kaz and qatar and lose against china):S

Tomorrow is another day and hopefully we will win.... we have 2 easy matches against uae and indonesia and then we will play qatar we must win all these games and the coach must use these 3 games to have more chemistry and from now until tuesday when we will face china i hope we will be in good shape, play our best and try to win and every thing is possible and we can still win the championship (we must just play our best) and we all must have the faith in our team and GOOD LUCK LEBANON:D

lol
man eventhough that i respect your countrymens here, but why always you like to put the name of Philippines in every single of post ? so Lebanon chose Vroman for that game ? :D
We have chosen Vroman for his descent game and talent,1 bad game doesnt make him a bad player, yes i wish he didnt play the way he played but still im convinced that the guy is good.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

In 2007 we lost to Japan in the first round and then made the finals,so i just hope the blow out of today would make the players put more efforts to fix the problems,i will be good now for only qualifiying since the team was not complete except for the last few days.

Go Lebanon!

lol i dont know. it just sounds great each time i say college players. ;)

anyway, on a more serious note, if you come to think of it, Lebanon's realistic finish is third and the Philippines 6th. I thought in Jones cup the scores dont matter much but judging from the preliminary games i think what we saw in jones cup pretty much sum up each team's strengths and weaknesses.jordan won over us by 31 pts and lebanon by only 12 pts. with the phil team as gauge, jordan is clearly the better team. against a hot shooting korea, lebanon will not see the light of day if its style remains the same. if you ask me, i hope it is the philippines you meet in the quarter finals. we have nothing to lose anyway. we're not vying for top 3 because we know our team is depleted. the best players are not included. we wouldnt care if we lose. just play ball and kick as many butts as we can.

does mario plama know what it takes to beat china (having been the coach of the angolan NT who has beaten the chinese team in the past)?

jordan COULD upset china, if ever.

if that happens, then add another problem for coach toroman and our college boys smart gilas. next yr they'll face these powerhouse teams in the asian games. so far, our only answer to jordan's tall lineup are Slaughter at 7'0 and Fajardo at 6'9. Rabeh, if he plays forward/center, is too small for the position at 6'8. Lebanon's got a tall lineup but Jordan just swept them away with authority. I dont even think Cj Giles will suit up again.

;) Thnx Dude , yeah we Deserved this win From the Beginning of this Game and when i said the Chemistry is a big Problem for the Lebanese NoBody Believed from The Lebanese Side !!!

But Our Guys Should b Now more Cautious and not Being So Arrogant as the others did :D

Am really afraid of Zaid alkhas and Sam Daghlas Injuries as they r both gr8 Key players .

CONGRATULATION SOLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you deserve the win!!!!!!! mabrouk again!!!!!

look bro, don worry we can win all of these matches. Why not the team which won over france cant do it on china. Our problem was over confidence.DONT FORGET:"Lebanon's strength is in its weakness", acctually we will change it to , " lebanon's strength is in its strength"

How many of the Jordan players are actually from Jordan?(and not naturalised..)

..as far as I can remember, many lebanese forumers had been lecturing us Filipinos that if ever you consider your team as a contender in this championship is that you must not back-off to any other team,... You also said that our grouping in the last 2007 FIBA was more exciting than you have in the last FIBA CHAMPIONSHIPS.. imagine being in the same group with Iran (Future Champions), Jordan (who beated you this year) and China. You said that if you are to boast your national team, why be scared to these teams, you should be confident on what your team can do,... well,.. that was your message to us several days ago before the competitions began,... and now it seems that your pride was shattered by Jordan and now you are posting things that in able to avoid China,.. you should lose to Qatar,, or something like that,... uhm.. personally,.. I am quite annoyed on how Lebanese tells that they can beat the Chinese and they are excited to face them but they're avoiding such Chinese team now... why? are not that confident compare in the past few days.. though, I still believe that Lebanon can be in the Top 3... this message is not intended to insult Lebanon or the national team as well,... this is just to remind those "some" arrogant Lebanese forumers who thinks that they are very well superior than any other country... they attacked the chinese, iranians, jordanian and even the filipinos..... again,... wake up... you are not the number 1 team in asia,..perhaps you can be... hmm... peace be with you ha.,..
*again,... i am not boasting our national team..., cause we have a lot of problems in our national team,... i am not also saying that we can beat lebanon... i can say that we can only beat lebanon when we are lucky.. i am posting this in the half of those people who were harassed by these "SOME" boastful Lebanese forumers,.. well..same to the other nationalities,.. don't be arrogant,.. those KOREANS, FILIPINOS, IRANIAN, CHINESE.etc.... for all of you.. hehe.... just reminding you to be humble... take care..

Ok guys, enough with the lectures and editorials - it actually isn't accomplishing what you hope it will.

Let's have a good tournament; talk about players, congratulate the victors, sympathize with the losers, discuss the games, but let's not use any ONE game to say "I told you so," as tempting as it may be.

We're all basketball fans and love our teams - keep it respectful during wins and losses.

indeed... PEACE in ASIA

if u go to www.aljazeerasport.net and read the post game of lebanon and jordan dragan racca says that its ok since lebanon always loses its 1st game and bounces back(he referred to the japan game in 2007) cuz of chemistry problems between players .....and mario palma says they r lucky that they met lebanon in their 1st day cuz he knows that lebanon just got their new players (matt and daniel) and he said that lebanon doesnt only have the qualifications to qualify to turkey but to win the whole thing ...now this is a good coach his only problem is that he gets mad very quickly ....

Where are those arrogant Lebanese Forumers? anyway..... to them : Please be humble and do not count your chicks when the eggs have not hatched yet.

Congrats Jordan.

the lebanese are definitely not worse than the philipinos who said they can beat the chinese(1st team) in 2007 and ended up losing in the 1st round so i wouldnt talk about another country if i were u :p

Well done Jordan for sending the Lebanese team and their overconfident/arrogant fans crashing back down to Earth.
