Bojan Bogdanovic finishes fourth in FIBA Europe Player of the Year

The Nets don't know if Bojan Bogdanovic will play for them next year ... or stay in Europe. They have considered trading his draft rights on more than one occasion. And he's in a bit of a slump.

But in a vote of fans and experts, the 6'8" swingman finished fourth in the FIBA Europe Player of the Year, ahead of Goran Dragic of Slovenia and the Suns and behind only Tony Parker of France and the Spurs, Vassillis Spanoulis of Greece and Marc Gasol of Spain and the Grizzlies.

Parker, who led France to the FIBA European championship, was the overwhelming winner. Bogdanovic's Croatian national team finished a surprising fourth.

The vote represents a weighted average of fan voting and expert opinions. In the actual fan vote, Bogdanovic finished first, a credit to Croatia's basketball-mad fans. In the expert voting, Bogdanovic finished fourth, again behind Parker, Spanoulis and Gasol.

To be considered for the award, players apparently had to have participated in the 2013 European championships but professional achievements are also considered. As a result, Andrei Kirilenko, Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki as well as Nikola Mirotic, the Bulls Euro-Stash, were not in the mix. Mirza Teletovic was not listed on the ballot. Others in the top 10 included Luigi Datome of Italy, the Pistons and Nikola Vucevic of the Magic and Montenegro and former Net Nenad Krstic of Serbia.
