I'm not sure this team work... Anyway, I prefer Lebron to Carter, and I don't really like Lebron much.

But Randolph... I don't think he can fit in a team.

The Cavaliers would make Randolph played better in the regular season, and for the first time in his NBA Career he would be playing on a winning team.

The Cavaliers need a low posts scorer that will compliment Lebron James and a jump shooting bigmen like Zydrunas Ilgauskas. It will be one of the things Danny Ferry needs to do if he wants to make the Cavs become a legit contender next year.

He need to acts soon because he is the one given the role to build around LBJ, and I think he need to start making some trade in the off season, so that the Cavaliers will have some time to develop a team chemistry before the season starts in November.

I would also like to see the Cavaliers adopt a new offensive strategy instead of watching Lebron James dominate the ball, and let him create for his teammates.

I know he is one of the best Point Forward in the history of the game, but the Cavaliers really need to make him less vulnerable to turn overs by getting a legit 2nd scoring option that will take the pressure off Lebron James in the 4th quarter.

Other than Lebron , there is no one else on the Cavaliers roster who are capable of scoring 25-30 points.

That is why i am liking the trade proposal because Carter is still one of the top scorers in the NBA, and he can also create some offense without dominating the Ball, and he is going to be a great 2nd scoring option on a winning team.

And once again, Lebron will be less overused during the season, and he is going to become more relax at the start of the playoffs because he now have teammates that are capable of helping the Cavaliers to become a top seed team in the Eastern Conference.

Personally, I think we need a better guard. Hughes was a bomb. Szczerbiak and West had moments, but both played terribly at times. If Pavlovic played like he did in last year's play-offs, we'd have beaten Boston, but...and Gibson still has great potential. I think that's our biggest need right now: a good guard.
I would also like to see the Cavaliers adopt a new offensive strategy instead of watching Lebron James dominate the ball, and let him create for his teammates.
This is a coaching problem. Brown spent too many plays demanding that LeBron find a shot. I don't think LeBron wants to spend all day dribbling at the top of the three-point arc, but what else can he do if Brown isn't making better plays?

Carter would fit my desire for a guard. But can we afford him?

The Lakers are a good example of the type of players we need. Kobe has Vujacic, Radmonovic, and Fisher to help him as guards ('cause it looked like Radmonovic was a guard last night), plus those two great big men. Why can't we get some good players like that?

Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers possible trade scenario

• Trade rumors keep coming hot and heavy, though most of them aren't worth repeating.

But here's one intriguing one I heard today: The Cleveland Cavaliers could trade Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Anderson Varejao and the No. 19 pick to Indiana for Jermaine O'Neal.

It's an interesting idea, but when I called team sources to find out if there was any truth to it, they shot it down as bogus.

Still, I'd watch both teams closely. I think the Pacers will move O'Neal this summer if they can, and I think the Cavs are definitely going to try to strengthen the supporting cast this summer for LeBron's sake. A healthy O'Neal could be a big boon for the Cavs, and head coach Mike Brown, formerly with the Pacers, should know how to get the best out of him.

Jermaine O'Neal. Hmm. He's a great offensive player, but horrible as a defender. At first, I'd say "the price is too high," but I'll have to think if I like that.

Lebron vs. Melo: Friends, Rivals, Teamates?

by Dallas Wilson (Scribe)

May 23, 2008

Basketball, NBA, NBA Central, NBA Northwest, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Allen Iverson , Carmelo Anthony

Preview/Prediction

Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony have long been paired together. They have the same superstar abilities on the basketball court, and they both were listed as prodigies in High School. They both make frenetic drives into the lane, and they both have a sweet jumpshot. By the end of their careers, they will both be among the game's best.

Carmelo definitely had the harder road. Growing up fatherless on the the mean streets of Baltimore, Maryland, Carmelo worked hard to get out. Basketball became his escape, and as his friends beside him were put into jail or shot, he was on the court making his escape. After his Junior year in High School in which he averaged 28 points per game, he transfered to the number one High School team in the nation: Oak Hill Academy. Most people doubted the move would benefit Carmelo, thinking he was too dumb to attend the school. Carmelo's grades, which had caused him to miss several games the year before, did steadily rise until he was entertaining offers from several D1 schools. After beating Lebron James's St. Vincent-St. Mary's team, in what many called the most hyped high school game in history, Carmelo Anthony was officially on the map.

While Lebron James also grew up without a father figure in his life, he grew up in Akron, Ohio, a city not known for gangs and violence. He had a protected life, and for good reason. As a seventh grader, his coaches said that if he could go pro, he would be the consensus top pick in the NBA draft. But he couldn't, and the world braced itself for what was coming. His high school career was highlighted by this: a National Championship the year after Carmelo graduated. He averaged 29.4 points a game his senior year, and was already a millionaire. He didn't even need to go to college, he was ready for the big leagues.

Carmelo's signing to Syracuse , puzzled many. He was the type of player that could attend any college in the United States, or been the top pick in the NBA draft. Syracuse was not a basketball powerhouse, but a mid major. And anyone who follows college sports knows that mid majors rarely ever make the March Madness tournament. He saw something that we didn't about that team though, as he won the National Championship.

Lebron James was drafted first overall, and Carmelo was drafted third. They were both expected to change their respective teams the Cleveland Cavaliers and Denver Nuggets around instantly, and only Carmelo completely delivered on his promise. His Nuggets advanced to the playoffs, while the Cav's were a few games out. That is not to say Lebron's season was a failure, far from it. He averaged 20.9 points a game and won the Rookie of the Year award. Carmelo averaged 21 points a game, and as mentioned above, advanced to the playoffs.

Fast forward five years to the present, 2008. Lebron's Cavs lasted one round before being put out by the Boston Celtic's Big Three. This was a year after he single handedly advanced his team to the NBA finals, where they were quickly swept.

Anthony's Nuggets have acquired all time great and perennial All-Star Allen Iverson, but they still can't seem to get out of the first round. In five straight years of playoff action, they have won a measly four games. He is probably an all time great by the end of his career, but his coaches and fans have been tired of his constant bad attitude and his, "I don't have to play defense," approach. These two things have caused people to speculate a trade. Who would trade for him? Well here is the answer, Lebron James's Cleveland Cavaliers.

Lebron has longed called for help on his TERRIBLE Cavalier team. Who would be more perfect than his longtime friend who has beaten him eight out of ten times. They are best friends and have been Olympic teammates before. And if the Nuggets are actively shopping Anthony, then the King will make his team trade for him.

Jordan and Pippen. Shaq and Kobe. And possible Lebron and Melo

The Return of Robert " Tractor" Traylor

Cavs General Manager Danny Ferry did not waste any time once the Cavaliers were eliminated from the postseason last week.

Robert "Tractor" Traylor will participate in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas as a member of the Cavs, according to a source close to the situation. The summer league runs July 11-20.

He sat for more than a year before playing in Spain and Puerto Rico, where he has played since December.

Based on his play in Puerto Rico (11.7 points and 7.8 rebounds in the regular season), several scouts said Traylor is ready to return to the NBA. If so, the Cavs could use some of their midlevel exception ($5.5 million) or all of their bi-level exception ($1.8 million) to sign Traylor. A possible return of the 6-8, 290 pound Traylor would mean more toughness inside for the Cavs.

http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2008/05/robert_tractor_traylor_returns.html

I don't know if he can help the Cavaliers next season, but it's still a good addition to our team because Tractor is still a much better basketball player than Dwayne Jones, and Lance Allred.

You're right. He gave us some real good minutes a few years ago. I hope he's lost some weight, because he could be a Ronny Turiaf type of player for us: big beef, big energy.

Michael Redd: Not just a spot-up shooter

http://blog.cleveland.com/cavaliers_corner/2008/05/michael_redd_not_just_a_spotup.html

This is why I think Michael Redd is the right guy to play next to LeBron James. He can hit open shots, but he can also create offense. Ask him to spot up and shoot and he will. But he's so much more than that. He can play on the wing. He can shoot. He can create. And he can easily score 20 points a night playing next to LeBron James.

Isn't that what the Cavaliers have been searching for since LeBron James came into the league?

Paint Cleveland Redd '08!

I agree with the assumption of the author that Michael Redd is a better fit as Lebron James sidekick next season.

Redd is going to take the pressure off Lebron in the playoffs, and the guy has the ability to take over games in the 4th quarter while shooting a better percentage from the Foul Line.

Redd would a perfect fit in Cleveland.

He gives Cleveland a legit 2nd option who is an elite scorer capable of 20-25 ppg, he is also an elite 3 point shooter who will make teams hesitate to double Lebron and when Lebron is resting Redd can take over and create his own shot off the dribble.

Robert traylor is out I think...

He was just playing in 3rd Spanish division. He is too fat to be in NBA; He overcame opened heart surgery, and it seems it really affected him. So...

This type of surgery worked for Turiaf, but, he was lucky to recover at least twice as fast as the doctor predicted and to come back at full level. For me, you can't pay traylor more than 1M$. This is big maximum.

Anyway, Redd all right, but I still doubt about him leaving the Bucks.

If the Cavaliers will draft a SG/SF in the 2008 NBA Draft. I don't think their need is to get Michael Redd from the Milwaukee Bucks because Budinger, Douglas Roberts and even Brandon Rush can fill the role as Lebron James sidekick next season.

Budinger is only 21 yrs.old, and he was also one of the most athletic player in the draft. He was also billed as the next Larry Bird back in Highschool.

Chris Douglas Roberts is a 6'7" SG that has excellent handles, and this guy is one of the most impressive players in the Final Four after helping the Memphis Tigers advance to the NCAA Finals.

Brandon Rush reminds me of his older brother Kareem Rush but this kid is a more explosive scorer, and he also plays better defense than Kareem.

I think getting Jermaine O'Neal is their next priority in case the Bucks and Cavs trade doesn't work in the off season because I can still see O'Neal rejuvenating his career if he plays with a contending team in the Eastern Conference.

There is talk that the Cavaliers could go after Toronto point guard T.J. Ford or Golden State's Baron Davis should he decide to opt of his contract, according to The Akron Beacon Journal.

Cleveland Head Coach Mike Brown is known to like big guards, which leads many to believe that he'd greatly prefer Davis to Ford.

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/52802/20080602/ford_baron_a_possibility_for_cavaliers/#

I prepare Baron Davis over TJ Ford because he can create his own shoot without relying on the ball movement, and he is going to be a matchup problem againts some of the smaller Combo Guard in the NBA.

Baron is the type of guy that can take over a game in the 4th quarter, and unlike Larry Hughes he is a superior athlete, and a much better passer.

He also rank as one of the best finisher in the NBA, which means that the Cavaliers are going to be one of the best running team in the League, if only Mike Brown will improve his offensive strategy.

He played 82 games for the Golden State Warriors last season which means his health issue is no longer a concern for the Cavs , so i think the Cavaliers need to make a sign and trade deal with the Warriors because they have plenty of expiring contract in their roster, and I love to see Baron Davis wear the Wine and Gold Uniform next year.

Cavs need to improve their roster before the regular season starts because i want to see them get a homecourt advantage in the playoffs because they struggle in the road againts the Boston Celtics.

Jermaine O'Neal and #11 pick to Cleveland

-The Indiana Pacers are trying to dangle the #11 pick in hopes of being able to package it with one of their ugly contracts (preferably Jermaine O’Neal). There is talk out of O’Neal’s camp that he anticipates being trade to Cleveland at some point this summer, possibly in a deal involving expiring contracts such as Wally Szczerbiak and Eric Snow.

The Pacers don’t want to give O’Neal away for nothing, but the temptation of shedding his 23 million dollar contract from their cap figure (giving them substantial cap space to work with in July of 2009) may be too great to pass up. On Cleveland’s end, it makes sense for their ownership to spend the money it will take to try and appease LeBron James and show them they are making the efforts to put together a championship caliber team. We’ve heard rumblings about this Cleveland/Indiana trade from a number of well-informed sources, so there appears to be at least some truth to it.

From Draft Express

http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Word-on-the-Street-Workouts,-Trade-Rumors-Heat-Up-2915/

The next step is probably getting Michael Redd and Charlie Villanueva from the Milwaukee Bucks, and I still believe that Danny Ferry will make a major improvement in the Cavaliers roster to make sure that LeBron will be back in the NBA Finals next year.

CAVALIERS

I know it's hard to think the Cavaliers could replace what Wally Szczerbiak gave them in Game 7 in Boston, but they do need to get better, and Szczerbiak is one key piece of any possible trade puzzle.

There's a lot of talk about acquiring Michael Redd from the Milwaukee Bucks, and it might be realistic.

The Bucks have a new GM and a new coach, and there seems to be a strong feeling from Milwaukee that Redd will be traded. A rebuilding team does not want $50 million in future contracts gumming up the works.

Redd, a career 20-point scorer, averaged 22.7 points per game last season, his lowest since 2002-03. He and LeBron James have played together on Team USA, and his scoring could be energized playing on the same team as James.

A lineup that includes Delonte West and Redd at guard is pretty appealing.

Redd will make $15.8 million, $17 million and $18.3 million (player option) the next three seasons. The Cavs have Szczerbiak's $13 million and Damon Jones' $4.5 million in expiring contracts to work with.

There's another piece I would consider.

That is Anderson Varejao, who will be paid $5.8 million this year (with a player option for 2009-10).

Varejao didn't exactly distinguish himself in the playoffs, and the deal he signed allows him to be a free agent after next season. As the season went on, he did not much like the idea of sharing time with Ben Wallace. When he was a restricted free agent, he did all he could to get out of Cleveland.

Too, the NBA is going to fine teams for flopping next season, and that might mean Dan Gilbert would go in the red with Varejao around.

He could be appealing to the Bucks, because they need rebounding. If he plays well, he could remain with the Bucks. He doesn't, the Bucks get more salary-cap space to rebuild.

So why not think about moving a guy who decided at some point that he was Julius Erving and hurt the team with his driving spins to the basket?

If the Cavs want size back, they could ask for Charlie Villanueva, who is 6-foot-11 and a decent scorer. He also wears a headband, which would fit in with James.

They could even discuss a future first-round draft pick, though NBA rules do limit that option a bit.

Redd and Villanueva for Szczerbiak and Varejao and a potential future draft pick.

Is this possible?

I have no idea, but I'd sure look into it. Aggressively.

http://www.ohio.com/sports/cavs/19428219.html?page=all&c=y

The Milwaukee Bucks are planning to get rid of the hefty contract of Michael Redd because they are on a rebuilding mode right now, and Coach Skiles want to build his team around Andrew Bogut and Yi Jianlian.

Redd is a great scorer, but he never lead the Bucks deeper into the playoffs.

Those expirers from the Cavaliers will probably help them to signed a legit franchise player in 2009, and Michael Redd would be playing in his hometown in Cleveland Ohio, and he is going to be the Cavaliers 2nd best player in their roster.

Michael Redd graduated from Ohio State University, and even leading his team into a NCAA Final 4 appearance in 1998 garnering point averages of 21.9, 19.5, and 17.5, respectively

It would be a good sight to see LeBron James finally getting the decent supporting casts that he rightfully deserve.

LeBron James: Celtics deserved NBA title; Cavs will find ways to improve for next year

medium_lbjdrivejk.jpg

Posted by Mary Schmitt Boyer mschmitt@plaind.com June 18, 2008 19:38PM

John Kuntz/The Plain Dealer

LeBron James had a dramatic playoff series with Boston and Paul Pierce (left), but said he wasn't surprised when the Celtics finished off Los Angeles for the NBA title.

Paul Pierce and Tiger Woods. The NBA draft and free agency. The U.S. Olympic team and the University of Akron men's basketball team.

Those were just some of the topics LeBron James touched on in a wide-ranging one-on-one interview Wednesday, his first since the Cavaliers were eliminated from the NBA playoffs a month ago.

Heading into the busiest part of his summer, he took a break to sit down with The Plain Dealer.

Q: What was your reaction to Boston winning the championship?

A: I didn't watch much. I watched a little bit, not much, off and on.

Q: Are you surprised Boston won?

A: Am I surprised? No, I'm not surprised. They had a very good team. They're probably one of the best defensive teams I've ever seen in my lifetime. They had all the tools that you need. They've got a guy who can shoot the ball and make plays in Ray Allen. They've got a go-to guy in Paul Pierce. And you've got the defensive player of the year and another guy who can make things happen in Kevin Garnett. They surrounded those three guys with complementary guys. James Posey was a big part of their team. Rajon Rondo was very big for their team. P.J. Brown was definitely a big pick up for them. Am I surprised? No. They're a very good team.

Q: Paul Pierce was The Finals MVP. He had quite a playoff run. He had to defend you. He had to defend Kobe Bryant. Most people think of his offense. Is he underrated as a defender?

A: I think so. He's very underrated. You'll be underrated when you have a few losing seasons. He's definitely showed why he has been an All-Star every year, no matter how bad their team was in the past. He's one of the best players we have in our league.

Q: Did it take you a while to recover from that Game 7 loss in the Eastern Conference semifinals in Boston?

A: I hate to lose. In that situation, we had an opportunity to win, so it was even harder. It took a few weeks to get over it.

Q: Was it harder than you thought it was going to be?

A: It was hard right after the game. I showed a lot of emotion after the game. I was able to calm down a little bit, but as I continued to think about the season being over ... especially after how hard I worked ... I work to play into June every year. I don't set myself to play into May or April. I want to play into June every year.

Q: Let's look ahead. What do you see in the draft?

A: We're at 19. You look for the best available player, I guess. I haven't really been up on it like I should be. I think our front office will do a good job of trying to pick the best player to fit our team.

Q: What do you think they should be looking for there?

A: I don't know what we need. We're just going to have to continue to get better. At 19, you want to try and find the best player who can help us win.

Q: How about free agency? Do you think there will be move movement or trades by the Cavs?

A: I haven't got a good grasp on what's going on with free agents. I think the front office knows. I just know as an individual we have to get better. That means guys have to come back better as individuals. That helps our team automatically. If it means personnel change, so be it. We have to get better because Boston is a very good team and Detroit is going to reload, we feel like. There are other teams we feel like are going to get better.

Q: Will you make any suggestions to the front office?

A: I think they know. If my opinion is asked for, I'll offer my opinion, because I am the guy out there playing, and I know talent, I guess you could say. But I think they know.

Q: Well, I'm asking your opinion.

A: We will get better. I believe in our front office. I think they're going to do a good job this summer.

Q: Are you looking forward to the Olympics?

A: Absolutely. We go June 26 for a couple days of training camp to get reacquainted with each other. Then we go back July 19 to get ready for the big Games.

Q: Can the U.S. get the gold medal back in basketball?

A: Yes.

Q: Is the U.S. going to get the gold medal back?

A: Absolutely.

Q: Did you watch Tiger Woods' playoff in the U.S. Open?

A: Yes.

Q: I know you're not a golfer, but as an athlete and a competitor, what did you think?

A: Amazing. Me and my friends talked about the fact that we never thought we would see another athlete get to the level that Michael Jordan did. Tiger is a couple steps behind Michael Jordan, but he's going to be the greatest athlete to ever achieve anything. The guy he was going against [Rocco Mediate], once he knew it was going to a [sudden-death] playoff, he knew he was done.

Q: Tiger was hurt, and you've had some injuries. Watching him play through his knee injury, did it give you an appreciation for how fleeting your career can be?

A: You have to appreciate it. The guy is out there working as hard as he does. He loves the sport like no other. He goes out there and wins a major golf tournament with a messed-up knee. I'm not a golfer but I know how important the knee is in that sport. Teeing off, you could see the pain on his face.

Q: The University of Akron's men's basketball team is going to wear Nike/LeBron James LJ23 gear next season while the rest of the school's teams wear adidas. How'd you pull that off?

A: Coach [Keith] Dambrot is a very, very, very close friend of mine. He definitely helped me get to the level I'm at right now. So I'm showing my appreciation.

Q: Got any vacation plans?

A: Nope.

Parade in Cleveland? Although eligible to become a free agent after the 2009-10 season, James says all he's concerned about right now is winning a championship here.

"I'm dedicated to bringing a championship to this city," James told Mark "Munch" Bishop during an appearance later Wednesday on ESPN 850 WKNR to promote the upcoming King for Kids Bike-A-Thon. "I'm bringing a parade to this city. I love this city. I love Northeast Ohio. ... Right now I can't see myself going anywhere else."

It was actually a great interview, and i am looking forward for the Cavaliers to make an improvement in their roster because next year i can see them beating the Boston Celtics in the Playoffs.

Cavaliers Off Season Plan

1. Get Jason Richardson and Emeka Okafor from the Charlotte Bobcats

2. Draft Chris Douglas Roberts as the 19th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

3. Sign Etture Messina as the Cleveland Cavaliers Assistant Coach.

4. Sign Gerald Green and Juan Carlos Navarro for the rest of the MLE.

5. Make a deal once again with the Seattle Supersonics by acquiring a first round pick in the Draft because the Sonics will have 6th draft picks this year.

6. Draft Serge Ibaka as the 24th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

Cleveland Cavaliers

C- Zydrunas Ilgauskas
F- Emeka Okafor
F- LeBron James
G- Jason Richardson
G- Delonte West

Reserves

C- Serge Ibaka
F- Dwayne Jones
F- Chris Douglas Roberts
G- Gerald Green
G- Juan Carlos Navarro
F- Sasha Pavlovic
G- Daniel Gibson

Coach: Mike Brown
Asst.Coach: Etture Messina, Eric Snow

According to Brian Windhorst the Cavaliers are planning to get Emeka Okafor from the Charlotte Bobcats because their General Manager aren't going to offer him a max contract next season, and last year they show some interests in signing Anderson Varejao.

Emeka Okafor is going to be a great acquisition for the Cavs because he is a great defensive player, and the Cavaliers being one of the best defensive team in the league need his defensive skills, especially his shot-blocking ability.

and If Jason Richardson wouldn't fit in Larry Brown's system i can see him being traded to the Cavs in exchange for an expiree, Joe Smith, Wally Sczerbiak, and future first round pick in the 2009 and 2010 NBA Draft.

I love it. I don't think we can get all those players, but if we got any two of Navarro, Okafor, and/or Richardson, I would be very happy. Our mid-season trade this year wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Szcerbiak and Wallace were very disappointing. Of course, West was better than I thought, but still a crummy shooter. I'll tell you though, if we got Okafor and Navarro, we'd be set. We should also try to get Spain's other super NBA guard: Jose Calderon. But I'm guessing he's untouchable.
