The Chinese Taipei Basketball Association have announced that Chou Jun-san will be the head coach of the Men's National Team and it is believed that Chou will eventually name Yen Chia-hua as assistant coach.

Yen, alongside the CTBA are still recruiting Golden State Warriors point guard Jeremy Lin and NCAA Division II BYU-Hawaii guard Jet Chang to reinforce the pool. Both have still not committed.

Osaka Evessa's center Tseng Wen Ting admitted that he may need a short break before joining the National Team, depending on how far Osaka advances into the BJ-League playoffs.

From my understand Jet Chang(G 6'4) will play 2011 Asia Championship for sure, also our 3 star players who play at CBA this season. They are Lee Hsueh-Lin(G 5'9) / Lin Chih-Chieh(F 6'4) / Chen Hsin-An(F 6'5). Coach Chou also said our big three boys must join and play this time, they are Tseng Wen-Ting(C 6'9) / Wu Tai-Hao(C 6'9) / Tien Lei(F 6'8).

Except Jeremy Lin, the above 7 players will be our main players this year. If Jeremy join our team for sure, then he will become the Ace for our team. He already signed the years of sponsorship for Taiwan Nike, and Taiwan Nike is working on Jeremy Lin to join our team at moment. I believe it would be some chance to wait Jeremy's answer, let's just wait and see.

Thanks for your valuable information. Sounds like a good core. I really do hope Lin joins the NT.

Tseng - the long-haired guy?
Tien Lei - man this guy could torch you with treys all day
Wu Tai-Hao - This guy posterized Ha Seung Jin right?:D

The only thing you could expect from the CT NT is it's unpredictability.
Looking at the last two FIBA Asia tournaments, they finished 6th last 2007 and 5th in 2009, despite only being a wild card entry.

KJ, is this year's roster same almost the same or exactly the same as last year? Nearly beat Iran last year. I think Iran only had a four point lead. Demolished Japan and beat Qatar and Korea...

I won't say what happened between our NTs two years ago. hehehe

Head coach Chou Jun-san is set to announce the players this week or this coming weekend.

what's the hold up with jeremy lin and the taiwan NT?

It seems Lin will not join NT training right away as Lin is planning to hold a basketball camp in Palo Alto, CA from June 27 to July 1. Lin has been very busy of late on organizing his summer camp.

I'd like to hear the words from Lin himself on thoughts about joining the Chinese Taipei NT. Somebody should ask Lin on his twitter (twitter.com/jlin7).

Seated in blue is the new head coach Chou Cun-San who was once upon a time the leader in assist in the CBA.

I don't know what happened to Lee Hsueh-Lin since the CBA ended but he looks even darker than the so-called "Blackie" Chen Chien-Chou (seated, in black), who just a day after his high-profile wedding is reporting as the team manager.

Chen Hsin-An, who rode the pine in the CBA and was not named to the team the past 2 years, has been named the captain, as he is the oldest player. I don't know if this means he'll make the final roster.

As this video shows, he still has some game left. But his 3p% in the past season was 2/44=5%, this has to be the worst in CBA history.

Meanwhile, "Jet" Chang Tsung-Hsien, who hasn't reported to the team, gets some love from ESPN:

Head coach Chou Jun-san said that Tien Lei and Chang Chih Feng are not expected to play in the FIBA East Asia Tournament due to injuries while Tseng Wen-Ting who is currently playing in the BJ-League Final Four with Osaka Evessa said that he will join the team after the East Asia Tournament.

Only 19 players attended the camp. Aside from the three I mentioned, Jet Chang and Chou Yi-Hsiang are still in the United States.

While the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association admits that Jeremy Lin of the Golden State Warriors will not be in the FIBA East Asia. But still hopes to have Lin in the FIBA Asia Olympic Qualifiers.

Former NBA coach and recently Tokyo Apache (BJ-League) Bob Hill has accepted a Consultant Position for the Men's National Team with the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association.

Both teams will leave Taipei for Mainland in a few days, senior team to Nanjing, junior team to Dongguan.

Bob Hill's contract runs from June to September 2011. Whereas the Tokyo Apache's training camp will be run by Hill's Coaching staff.

Chinese Taipei Basketball Association President Ting Shou-chung reported to the local press that his meeting with Golden State Warriors point guard Jeremy Lin in San Francisco last week yielded progress on the matter of Lin playing for the Chinese Taipei National Team in the FIBA Asia Olympic Qualifying Tournament in WuHan, China.

Ting also said that Lin will visit Taiwan in this August.

National Team Consultant Bob Hill speaks to the players.

With the Tokyo Apache shut down for the BJ-League 2011-2012 season, Hill can focus all his attention to the National Team without having to answer emails and calls from Tokyo.

This is pretty solid footage

Any truth to the recent report that links Bob Hill and Jeremy Lin to the team? I remember last year a report came out and Jeremy's agent denied that he had agreed.

As translated by Pryuen:

http://sports.sohu.com/20110614/n310091018.shtml

When asked why he had accepted the post of Technical Consultant from Chinese Taipei, Bob Hill said it was due to Jeremy Lin; he said he had worked with Jeremy Lin for the past 2 years in the summer, and had become good friends. Jeremy Lin introduced and recommended him to the officials of Chinese Taipei Basketball Association.

And when Chinese Taipei Basketball Association made him the offer, and said that Jeremy Lin will probably agree to join Chinese Taipei team for this year's FIBA Asian Championship, Bob Hill accepted the offer.

Bob Hill said since there will probably be a lockout in NBA in the new season, the Summer League has been cancelled, and therefor it might not be a bad idea at all if Jeremy Lin can play in the FIBA Asian Championship.

When asked what type of a player Jeremy Lin is, Bob Hill said he is a very special kind of player; the question now with Jeremy Lin is how he can develop and maintain more stable and consistent shooting. He added that Jeremy Lin has natural basketball talents, and reasonably good speed and body strength as well as jumping ability; He said Jeremy Lin can use his speed, penetrates more into the lane, jumps and dunks. He said Jeremy Lin is a very smart player and there are still alot of room for his development.

When asked about whether he thinks there is still a chance for Jeremy lin in NBA after a pretty poor rookie season given very little play minutes and opportunities, Bob Hill said amongst all 5 positions, the point guard position is the most difficult; and players in each position will take time to develop and prosper; it's even much longer and more difficult for a point guard. He thinks Jeremy Lin will have to work much harder.

When asked whether he thinks Jeremy Lin, if given the chance to play in Asian Championship and other Asian level competition, will become Asia's best point guard, Bob Hill was very affirmative and said he does not have a single doubt.
