Bosh to join Wade in signing with Heat

By Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears, Yahoo! Sports

Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have decided to sign with the Miami Heat while continuing to recruit LeBron James to help them form an All-Star triumvirate that threatens to shift the NBA’s balance of power, two sources with knowledge of the plans told Yahoo! Sports.

“They think they’ve got a real chance to pull this off with LeBron,” a league source said.

Said an official with one team that made a formal presentation to James: “It’s down to Cleveland or Miami for him.”

The three players shared a call after midnight on Wednesday, when Wade and Bosh told James they were committing to the Heat, a source said. James didn’t commit with them, but kept his own plans private for a television announcement on Thursday night. Wade and Bosh plan to formally announce their decision on Wednesday afternoon.

Still, Wade and Bosh decided they needed to make a commitment to give them the best possible chance of luring more talent – including James – with the additional salary-cap space in Miami.

As a possible contingency plan if they don’t get James, the Heat have discussed pursuing the Portland Trail Blazers point guard Andre Miller in a trade, a source said. The Heat have had trade conversations since before the draft about sending point guard Mario Chalmers and a first-round pick to Portland for shooting guard Rudy Fernandez, according to a source. It’s possible the talks have now expanded with Heat forward Michael Beasley and Miller.

ESPN first reported Wade and Bosh’s plans.

Big move by the Heat!
I honestly thought Chicago had the best chance of getting the services of Bosh+Wade.

I guess this means that Spoelstra needs to find a new job.

Thanks for posting this, Khalid. According to that article, Miami won't have a whole lot of money left after signing these two. Miami only has Mario Chalmers, Michael Beasley, and (assuming this deal goes through), Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. Who else is going to play for Miami for such small contracts? This summer is when the smallest player can get the most money.

Los Angeles (Malone, Payton, Kobe, Shaq) (and Team USA) proved that you can't just get together a bunch of superstars and then some chumps and hope to win.

True that Matt :)
If the Heat do try to trade some of their players to get Rudy Fernandez and Andre Miller though I think that would be really awesome.
Miller played really great for Portland last year even though he's in his late 30's. Fernandez would add alot of versatility for the team as well.

This elevated the Heat to a 50+ win team imo, but I think they still need another guy before this is a true title contender.

Can they still get Lebron after resigning Wade and signing Bosh?
Sure, but all three players (Bosh, Wade, LBJ) would have to agree to take less money than they could get with other teams, much like what Gary Payton and Karl Malone did in LA.
I think they have a good roster right now but additional key/role players will be great. Probably a role player before will step up to the limelight this season for Miami.
Yes, they need some additional players.

That would be great for them. Yes, Miller can still play very, very well and Fernandez is extremely versatile, as you say. But it will cost them Beasley and Chalmers.

Now the HEAT has offered two Max Contracts on Wade and Bosh. This means LeBron James will consider elsewhere as being the third guy being signed will guarantee less than what Bosh and Wade are getting. LeBron James is yet to peak and the mentality of this player in particular is that he is still the central catalysts to build around with.

That said, The Miami Heat still has to sign players to complement the Bosh and Wade. Chalmers and Beasley for starters. Magloire could be back as well as Arroyo.

Dwyane Wade: "I would like Jason Williams back in Miami". He said on a press conference in response to a question posted by a columnist regarding the personnel that he (Wade) thinks will contribute to the Miami Heat.

Wow.....

Wow.....

Wow......this really shows that Dwayne Wade cares more about basketball than he does about his family. Now we know what kind of person Wade really is.

Lebron is going to The knicks, is almost official now

so no big 3 for South Beach this time.

ESPN is still sticking with him going to the Heat. Personally I hope he says f8ck everyone and just resigns with Cleveland.
