Definaetly Shaq. He dominated NBA (until now) and got 4 NBA titles. Numerous MVP awards etc... Yes Chamberlain also dominated and his records even more impressive, but it was in old times when other centers was 190cm. If Shaq would play in 60' he would score 150 points and grab 80 rebounds. And those who think differently - please ask yoursefl a question: who do you want on your team? Shaq, Admiral, Chamberlain, Russel or Hakeem?

Shaquille O'Neal... period... the last active player of the NBA 50 Greatest... 4-time champion.... 3-time Finals MVP... Olympic gold medallist (1996)... World Champion (1994)... World Champs MVP... NBA MVP... 2-time FIBA Americas Champion... and so on...

Followed by Bill Russell... the greatest winner in NBA history... winning 11 championships...

Kareem...
I agree. I think Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the best center of All-Time, followed closely by Sabonis. Kareem was a magician during the glorious late '60s of college basketball. He won three NCAA championships. He won four NBA championships as well during a long career.

I including George Mikan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are 2nd and 3rd NBA best centers.. I think Shaq is 6th or 7th and tied with Patrick Ewing, Olajuwon, RObinson and Ralph Sampson

Seriously it's gotta be Shaq. Sure he cant make free throws to save his life, but whereever he went the team wins (Orlando, LA Lakers, Miami). I don't think you can say that about any other center (maybe Kareem..)

1. Bill Russell. He was a mean machine on the boards and is underrated for his offensive game. And you guys talk about Shaq's rings. Bill has got 11, including 1 as a player-coach. Wilt had a lot of trouble beating him. Russell also ran the break very well.

2. Kareem. He scored the most points in history. Had a killer hook and was dominant in his time.

I would consider Patrick Ewing, but he never won a title and in my book, you need to lead your team to a title.

when kareem was still playing with the TEAM B of UCLA they defeated the TEAM A of UCLA.. and the campus joke before is that the UCLA's team A is the best in the NCAA but 2nd only in their campus

It was Sabonis, I can't help it :p
Yes, although, if we're asking for the best NBA center, perhaps Sabas doesn't qualify. ;) As usual in these discussions...

I agree. Kareem was the best in my opinion. If I were going to build a team of all-time great players, he would be on my team before anybody else on the list (except maybe Sabonis). Kareem was a great athlete in his early NBA days and in his late NBA days, he kept his athleticism and held a great variety of tricks and offenses.

...for me, it would've been a dream to see Sabonis play against Kareem. Sabonis had twice the power as Kareem, but could Sabonois contain Kareem defensively?

Stop with Shaq stats... Or I'll go find Russell and Chamberlain's ones ^^
And, even, at their time, blocks and steals weren't recorded, either, Russell would have had many quintuple doubles... And Chamberlain a regular quadruple double player.

But, their period can't be compared with Shaq's, so...
i'd say, tied...between Shaq, Kareem, Russell (for the titles and defense) and Chamberlain (points...)
