New BBL 2009./10. season is coming. 9 of 10 teams in Elite Division are Žalgiris, Lietuvos Rytas, Šiauliai, Nevežis, Rock, Kalev, VEF, Ventspils, Valmiera. 10th team will be Barons or ASK. What are rosters of Šiauliai, Nevežis and estonian clubs?

Ventspils:

C: Blaus / Plivda
PF: Zaķis / A.Bērziņš
SF: Jurevičus / Berķis
SG: Bertāns / Kanbergs
PG: Strēlnieks / Sokolovs

2 foreign players are missing. Aaron Pettway on tryout.

VEF

C: Nelyubov / Šeļakovs
PF: Aleksejevs / Freimanis
SF: Jahovičs / Labuckas
SG: ???
PG: Renfroe / Gailītis

2 shooting guards are missing. Bankevics, Vairogs and S.Valters are candidates to fill this spot.

Valmiera

C: Iļjins /
PF: Mednis /
SF: Andžejevskis /
SG: Amoliņš /
PG: Sirsniņš / Kaufmanis

BC Šiauliai

C: M.Kingsley, V. Šarakauskas
PF: B.Brown, V.Volkus, G.Orelikas
SF: M.Kuzminskas, D.Gailius
SG: A Šikšnius, Ž.Petraitis, V.Pauliukenas
PG: xxx, L.Samėnas

Main PG is still missing, it should be fpreigner

BC Nevėžis

C: R.Trakimas
PF: E.Dimša, R.Ūzas
SF: M.Simonavičius
SG: D.Gvezdauskas
PG: P.Beliavičius, V.Valiulis

M.Bareika, M.Balčiūnas and G.Butkus also has contracts with the team, but it's still not clear will they join it

G.Maciulevičius, H.Vorotnikovas and R.Grinius are with the team, but still without contracts.

Nevėžis will rely mostly on youngsters this season, I doubt they'll be able to climb from bottom of BBL.

P.S. maybe some mod could create new thread for BBL 2009/10 and move those posts [Done. rikhardur]

According to variuos sources the main candidate for a PG spot is lithuanian Arvydas Eitutavičius (26 y/o, 188 cm). Last season he played in Klaipėdos "Neptūnas" where he had ~13pts, ~4reb, ~3ass and 1stl per game. He played very good in the second part of the season after Dainys left to Lietuvos Rytas and he became their main PG.

It's still undecided which team will take 10th spot in BBL's Elite divison. Latvian basketball federation had to decide, but their board couldn't choose team (ASK Riga or Barons Riga). So they will pass the decision to BBL's board which will ultimately decide in upcoming days.

It's official: Liepajas Lauvas will play in BBL Elite divison. They outbided two other candidates from Latvia - ASK Riga and Barons.

Current Liepaja's roster:
C ?/?
PF Klavs Ansons/Edmunds Tukiss
SF Juris Patmalnieks/Kalvis Sprude
SG Martins Kravcenk/Einars Tukiss
PG Vairis Pusaudzis/Renars Zeltins/Sandis Silavs

Currenty they're having negotations with forward Janis Porzingis, who played in Italy (06/07 season in Lega A, 07/08 and beginning of 08/09 in LegaDue) recent seasons. Also they probably will re-sign PF Jevgenijs Kosuskins, who played in Liepaja last season.

This is pretty unfair, that Liepaja got 10th place in BBL elite division, with Zalgiris voice they edged out TTY from Tallinn. Reason probably was that Zalgiris is too lazy to come to Tallinn and play with the stronger club :D as Heino Enden said.

There should've at least been qualifying games between TTY from Tallinn and Liepaja, as Rytas representative said.

Last year Estonian clubs did much better than Latvian ones in BBL, so 4 places to Latvia and 2 places Estonia is BS. Even 5 Lithuanian, 3 Latvian and 2 Estonian clubs would be fairer than current absurdity.

And you are complaining all the time :) Nothing is changing :p

Tartu Rock

C: S.Morrison, V.Allingu, K.Kitsing
PF: J.Talts, A.Paade, M.Viiask
SF: M.Doronin, T.Eichfuss
SG: T.Tein, S.Leppik
PG: T.Abernethy, S.T Sokk

Headcoach: Indrek Visnapuu

BC Kalev/Cramo

C: ???, V.Veski
PF: ???, R.Keerles, R.Raadik
SF: T.Kurbas, E.Dorbek, I.Kajupank
SG: G.Arbet, G.Dorbek
PG: T.Sokk, M.Riis, M.Dorbek

Headcoach: Nenad Vucinic

BC Kalev haven't closed the roster yet. They are still looking to add two foreigners - a center & a power forward.

BC Kalev added Serbian center Aleksandar Bojic, last year at Le Havre (ProA).

The opening of BBL is close, but latvian clubs final rosters are not known yet?

Here they are:

BK Ventspils

C Aaron Pettway, Lauris Blaus, Martins Meiers
PF Ronalds Zakis, Arturs Berzins
SF Mareks Jurevicus, Martins Berkis
SG Dairis Bertans, Kristaps Kanbergs
PG Janis Strelnieks, Mikus Sokolovs

Ventspils head coach said that they've completed roster for 95%. They will start season with this roster, but they may add some players (most likely PG and/or SF).

VEF Rīga
C Ivan Nelyubov, Andrejs Selakovs
PF Jurijs Aleksejevs, Arnas Labuckas
SF Gatis Jahovics, Zanis Peiners
SG Ingus Bankevics, Martynas Mazeika
PG Alex Renfroe, Janis Gailitis

VEF currently has open spot in PF as Rolands Freimanis went to Spain. I put there Labuckas, but I think in upcoming weeks or months they will sign one big man.

Liepajas Lauvas
C Klavs Ansons, Kalvis Sprude
PF Jevgenijs Kosuskins,
SF Laimonas Kisielius, Martins Kravcenko
SG Juris Patmalnieks, Sandis Silavs
PG Vairis Pusaudzis, Renars Zeltins

Liepaja are searching center. One possibility is Raitis Grafs.

Valmiera
C Blaz Cresnar, Roberts Mednis
PF Arturas Valeika, Janis Graudins
SF Juris Andzejevskis, Sandis Amolins
SG Reinis Strupovics
PG Janis Kaufmanis, Oskars Virsis

Thanks. Labuckas is surely sf. Only 9 players in Valmiera and Lauvas. Will Iljis and Malahovskis play for Valmiera, as they are in the roster on BBL page?

Kalev's frontline is a huge disaster today.

Hopefully things will get better in that department when Keerles & Bojic are ready to play and the unknown foreign PF comes.

Kalev cant afford any good players so they will be a disaster the entire season sadly. Don't even want to think about what CSKA is gonna do to this team when they meet but at least some young estonians will get to play and hopefully get better.

First BBL Cup semifinal. Letuvos Rytas - Kalev: 117 - 69

I hope, Kalev will have 2 good foreigners, because we could see, that estonians without players from abroad can do simply nothing.
