What is the status of James Spencer in Japan B3.league is he a “world import” or an “Asian quota player” ? My understanding to be considered as “Asian quota player” he must at least played at least 1 game in senior NT at FIBA sanctioned tournament. I don’t recall Spencer has had played for Gilas.

You mean Filipino players?

Well, there are still nine of them (3 in division 2). However, other teams opted to sign players from China, Taiwan, Korea and Thailand. Not to mention, the league now opens its doors to the West Asians.

1st Div. : K. Ravena ; Wright; Ramos; Sotto; Parks; Edu;

2nd Div. : Adams; Chiu

3rd Div. : Spencer

In addition Matthew Aquino (Div I) is considered local as he has permanent resident status due to his mother being a Japanese. Those players above has work permits. Fil-Am Kihei Clark plays in Div. II whereas world import Eugene Phelps who lives in Manila during off-seasons plays in Div. II.

KBL : Oczon; Juani GdL; Belangel; Epistola, Alvano; Tamayo; Javi GdL; Gutang

B.league + KBL Select Team :

Kiefer Ravena (Yokohama)
Matthew Wright (Kawasaki)
Dwight Ramos (Hokkaido)
Kai Sotto (Koshigaya)
Bobby Ray Parks (Osaka)
AJ Edu (Nagasaki)
Roosevelt Adams (Yamagata)
Shaun Geo Chiu ((Ehime)

Samjosef Belangel (Korea Gas)
Ethan Alvano (Wonju)
Carl Tamayo (Changwon LG Sakers)
Justin Gutang (Seoul Samsung)

This fantasy team could make PBA all stars shiver…

Meh on Alvano could care less about players that will never play for Gilas, youre as good as a foreigner to me

I mean we can consider this as our national team A, just need JB/JC.

Playing constantly against World Imports is a testament that B.League is a better option for Kai Sotto. Will he ever have this opportunity to improve in the PBA? Will he have this much of a playing time in NBL or in the NBA?

One move I see Kai that should not do is to play in KBL. He is clearly a walking mismatch out there with only one World Import playing at a time.

Good to see Koshigaya out of the relegation zone, and that Kai's playing a role in that.

Almost got in a fight with Shiga's Aussie big man Brock Motum after Kai made a hard foul on Motum. Who was, incidentally, a fellow former Adelaide 36er.

I'm wondering if Kai has it in him to become the "mean big" type ala-Shaq. Sooner or later he has to back it up, hopefully he's doing some martial arts training.

A menacing big is valuable.

If he has some martial arts training, he may be like Kareem. lols

Kareem attributes a big part of his longevity and relatively injury-free career (especially for a 7-footer) to martial arts and yoga. He did a lot of stretching, plyometrics, isometrics, meditation and unconventional body strengthening doing those disciplines. It's only recently that others have been doing the same thing.
