B.League (Japan Pro Basketball League)

Advice to those current PBA players who wish to spread their wings in Japan, please don’t burned your bridges because you never know you’ll be knocking their doors in a short span of time… Adams was cut recently and I won’t be surprise if he hear Slaughter would be waived. And chances are they will have difficulty of finding a willing team to sign them.

Honestly, for our best players, they should consider playing abroad first, then go back to the PBA as the retirement league. No connections yet.

Once you're in the PBA, it's not that easy to go abroad, especially with the big teams that offer good pay and good treatment.

Carl Tamayo scored 11 points on 4-12 shooting (2-4 from 3), and got 3 rebounds (1 offensive) yesterday.

Not exactly a dream regular season for him, averaging only 2.7 points on 25.9% shooting (25.9% from 3), 1.3 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.1 blocks, and 0.3 steals in 15 games (4 starts). Still, I'd cut him some slack, as he joined midseason, and he's on the first year of a 3-year contract. Plus, at least he plays. Hope he improves in the playoffs or the next season, and hope he's in consideration for the WC.]

he just left collegiate ball to play in pro league in a different country. why would there be any expectation that he would be a core member of the team at the least? im happy he has playing time.

minsan tlaga, expectation is not real. i understand we want our countrymen to do good, but lets face it. they need to adjust to another team system, how another league is ran, how referees of those leagues blow their whistle. that is not uncommon. i get that we criticize to help see where improvements can be made. but sometimes, we forget that players are humans and they need time to adjust. time to think how they should do things, and think what their role is.

Yeah, that's why I'm not that worried about him despite the poor numbers, and happy that he gets the reps, and that he has a 3-year contract. He has a lot of leeway to make mistakes in non-bearing games. That's one way he can learn and better adjust to his role. I'm just hoping he has a long overseas career, and goes back only when he's past it. Maybe when he's around 32-34?

as long as he doesnt get any major injury. his foot has been injured a few times already and that was since he was in Adamson HS.

Hope the doctors there can manage his health well, then. I remember he got injured thrice over the past 2 years. And that was on the foot.

Yeah. I think this was a misstep on Gold's part. This was the post-Balti UAAP juniors. Carl bulked-up and along with Encho Serrano dominated the UAAP juniors. But he got his first major injury after. I haven't seen Carl builked up or even shredded since then. This is a point against adding major muscles at a young age. Raven also gained major muscles in HS and tore his ACL. Raven has not been as mobile since. I think La Salle was training Raven to be their mini Giannis at that point. But it might be the physicality in our games compared to the US. His ACL gave way.

Ryukyu are in the B.League finals.

I guess they qualify again for the EASL.

i doubt tamayo gets minutes in the finals but i hope he gets them in the EASL and the next b.league season

Matthew Wright - Kyoto Hannaryz
Robert Bolick - Fukushima Firebonds
Kiefer Ravena - Shiga Lakes
Roosevelt Adams - Yamagata Wyverns
Kai Sotto - Hiroshima Dragonflies (with cancellation clause)
Carl Tamayo - Ryukyu Golden Kings

These are the Filipino players that will surely return next season.

Those that have strong chance to be re-signed:

Jordan Heading - Nagasaki Velca
Thirdy Ravena - San-en Neophoenix
Bobby Ray Parks - Nagoya Diamond Dolphins
Dwight Ramos - Levanga Hokkaido

Zeinab is a hottie

Ryukyu have won the B.League championship, winning 2 games in Chiba.

Congrats to Carl on his first pro championship. Hope he gets the PT and good numbers next season, and has a chance to compete for a Gilas WC spot. After AJ, Malonzo, Dwight, and maybe Japeth, Carl's probably our most talented guy at 4 as of the moment, and has performed well in FIBA.

And Carl is still young & very much at the developent stage in his career. He just needs the playing time in his B-league team.

i see Carl Tamayo, Will Navarro and Rhenz Abando having storied careers overseas. They have franchise player potential.

Yeah, he's only 22 and coming off his first season. Hopefully he gets a break and gets to produce next season.

Well, Josh Duncan has left Ryukyu: https://goldenkings.jp/news/detail/id=18424

That opens up opportunities for Carl at 4 and Hugh Watanabe at 5, if Ryukyu opt to sign a wing import rather than a big, since they have Allen Durham, Jack Cooley, Hugh Watanabe, and Carl in the roster.

KBL is i think a much better destination than Bleague , most of the filipino imports that played last season were able to have good exposure maybe except for Belangel, but i hope others will have the chance to play in leagues outside asia, turkey might be a good destination
