to be honest, it's very weird to see those green/blue looking courts - like PVC

China currently has only one arena on par with Madison Square Garden, which is the Beijing Wukesong Indoor Stadium, built specifically for the Olympic basketball games in 2008 but has now been redesigned as a multi-purpose arena. Last year the CBA All-Star was held there.

This is from the CBA All-Star Game. Notice there are more seats on the upper levels cut off by the photo. The capacity is about 18000. Only thing is, Beijing Ducks cannot afford this place so this hardly qualifies as a basketball arena; other than that CBA ASG the arena was almost only reserved for concerts such as the ones by Beyonce, Avril Lavigne and now, Faye Wong.

However, another such arena in China will open real soon, the Shanghai Mercedes-Benz Arena which was built specifically for the World Expo this year. Right now it is still billed as a cultural center, but there are rumors that Yao Ming's Shanghai Sharks will attempt to relocate over there in 2012-2013 season.

A new arena dawns for entertainment in China after run in Expo

SHANGHAI--The Shanghai World Expo Culture Center, which attracted more than 8 million visitors over the past six months, will continue to serve the public, but in a different way. AEG is operating the Mercedes-Benz Arena in cooperation with its Chinese partner, the Oriental Pearl Group (OPG), with the NBA holding a minor stake.

The arena will open with five concerts of the nation's top diva Faye Wong on Nov. 19, although the official opening ceremony will be held on Jan. 15 on the 125th anniversary of Mercedes-Benz, which has bought the naming rights for 10 years.
