Is it true that basketball is number 1 sport there?

But if they invest so much and its so popular why don't we hear much about them, why don't they qualify?

Sad to say, the "business" made it too "commercialized" to the point that business first before playing for the flag. But we're happy to say that we're starting better now with good patriotic businessmen like Mr. M.V. Pangilinan whom we fondly called MVP. As of now, since the new program started in his helm, were doing better than ever. ;)

Asian teams are better organized. Africa has far more talent but they have a problem with emigration.Thats about it.

I agree, the problem about Angola, for example, is that 100% of their players play inside Angola. I hope in some years we will be able to see some Angolan's players in Europe.

African teams this year look awful... no good play.. they barely can get along with first quarter against big teams...They have to reduce one spot for Africa

Angola did win against Jordan because Jordan lost his hopes!!! they have a crazy coach Maro Palma.. he is insane

I am sure this year Asian teams are having good level ..

Iran is destroying Tunisia by 18 pts now.

Africa was lucky that their best team participating in this tournament ( angola) faced the worst asian team participating in this tournament.
or else they would have recorded 0 wins vs asia.

And your best team is facing the worst african team participating on the tournament. You are lucky too:rolleyes:.

"destroying" :confused::confused::confused:

destroying what exactly? the only thing that Iran destroyed today was its own reputation. I mean the reigning Asian champion almost lost to the worst African team ;)

well said,Iran is being inconsistent, but still they're missing 2 of their best players, samad and afagh

Asia has three wins right now. 2 VS AFRICAN TEAMS, and one vs canada.

How many africa has? Just one vs jordan.

Ivory coast has zero chance to win any remaning game.same for tunisia.
Only game they might win again is australia vs angola.

Angola has little chance to win this China team now.:)

they've done it before, (I think even with Yao, not totally sure about that though)
and Ivory Coast played well against China for the first 2 quarters at least

In 2006, during the MundoBasket who took place in Asia, one out of the four participating Asian team managed to reach the 2nd round against 2 of the 3 African teams.Where you advocating for a reduction of the number of Asian teams ?
This year not only you have same number of Asian teams, but Lebanon even got a Wild Card.

You're rejoicing because China and Iran, two countries that have fully-fledged
professional Basket-Ball leagues with foreign players and former NBA'ers( I'm not even speaking of the million dollars and poured into Chinese BasketBall) as well as large participation and international experience managed to beat two countries that have no professional Basketball leagues, no international experience (when was the last time you saw Tunisia and CIV taking part in a World Champ) and where Basketball is an afterthought?
Your standards aren't very high.

12 of the African players went to Qatar to form the AfriQatar team

Angola have professional Basket-Ball leagues while Jordan didn't have last year.

Yes We beat China several times and one or two times Yao played:D.

It's a long time ,,they have done it but I don't know why they always lost by specially Iranian teams.
Although there are some other countries in middle east do it permanently per 3-4 years and then say "our national team".:D:D:D:D:D

And that's why Angola won, even though Jordan has naturalized American players in its team. I think it is the only country in Africa that has a functional pro BBall league with Egypt (even though I'm not sure this one though). But still nowhere near the level of the CBA league. There is a huge difference in professionalism and money invested .
