Asia is participating with 4 teams.Africa with 3.

Day 1 results

Greece 89 China 81
Brazil 81 Iran 65
Lebanon 81 Canada 71
Australia 76 Jordan 75

Great day for asia. China lost by just 8 points to greece. Iran lost just by 16 vs brazil.Lebanon won Canada by 10.
Asian teams faced top teams from around the world and they all matched them.

Africa teams on the other hand

Serbia 94 Angola 44
Turkey 86 Ivory COAST 47
Slovenia 80 Tunisia 56

Two teams scored below 50 points. None of the teams scored more then 60.

The level of asian basketball is higher then african basketball.

Asian teams are better organized. Africa has far more talent but they have a problem with emigration.Thats about it.

+1

add to that the fact that there is alot of investment in asian basketball , especially in Lebanon and Philippines.

You are right:D

I usually defend Africa, and they had a better 06 WC for example, but yeah there's no argument Asia had the better day 1. 1 win, a game Jordan should have won, and close game against a medal favorite, good on Asia.

African teams look weak this year, but were strong in 2006. It depends a lot on who qualifies. Some have more potential than others in terms of the foreign-based players they can collect.

As for Asia, the fact that you're bragging about a day when they won 1 game out of 4 says it all.

Great win by Lebanon. Tough loses for Jordan and China. It's time to give the 2nd Olympic slot to Asia! :)

Because Iran did so well last time?

I have been to the Philippines and my gosh, the only thing that businesses like to invest is basketball :D

The competition just start...let's see in the end.
I personaly think that Angola can beat all asians teams.
But its true that Asian teams are more organized and the level of the Basketball in Asia its higher.

Angola NT will be up against Jordan NT this evening. Well, the former coach of Angola Basketball Team is handling the Jordanian Team. Any strange feeling about Coach Palma?

I agree with zlim. I think Angola can also beat any of these Asian teams, but that goes the other way around as well.

Years ago teams like Tunisia and Egypt (with a full squad) were even better, but this year Tunisia looked bad game 1, but it's too early to tell.

We can talk about it better after todays and tomorrow games .It's 100% Asia vs Africa .
Angola- Jordan
China-CIV
Iran _TUN

China is destroying Ivory Coast without Yao Ming!!! Just imagine!!

As for angola, they are hanging with jordan till now. 3 point difference for jordan.

Angola Jordan and Angola Australia are the only chances for africa to records wins in this tournament.

Or else they will leave with zero wins.

Book it

Iran will win tunisia tomorrow

It's a multimillion dollar business here in the Philippines. :D

Is it true that basketball is number 1 sport there?

But if they invest so much and its so popular why don't we hear much about them, why don't they qualify?
