Scola set a new career-high: 24 pts (+ 7 rebs). The Rockets ended up losing to the Spurs 88-109.
Didn't he do something similar to the Spurs in their previous meeting this season? :p

The Argentines on the Spurs' team also had a good game. Oberto amassed 8pts (4/4 FG), 5rebs, 5ass and 1 block. Ginobili scored 14 and added 6 borads, 5 assists and 2 blocks.

That's actually a bad game for Manu, isn't it?

No doubt about the scouting habilities of the Spurs, the draft picks and the trades that you have said speak by themselves.
Its without any doubt one of the teams where an european player would love to play because of his level and because of the "friendly" enviroment.
And the style of play.

and they let go the most dominant (with Vujcic) center (pf) that has played there during the last 5 years? Well, we all make mistakes. :)
I think the Spurs didn't think Scola would have signed with any team at that point.

Errr, well...Ok, that's really a sub-par game for Manu. But only because he is Manu

If that's what the Spurs thought, than they made a big mistake, obviously. Scola is a rookie of the year candidate (although I still don't think guys over 25-years-old should be allowed).

Carlos Delfino had 18 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds in only 28 minutes against New Orleans. Nocioni had 17 points (including a great "highlight" lay-up with his left hand) and 4 rebounds in a good win over Milwaukee on Saturday.

All the Argentinos are having great seasons in the NBA this year, but Nocioni's minutes are not steady. One night he plays 5 minutes and the next he plays 35. I really don't understand that. A lot of people think the new coach (Boylan) is not a good coach and that the team has only gotten worse. But Nocioni is the Bulls' best player this season (well, maybe Ben Gordon or Drew Gooden). I suppose that's why Nocioni got upset with Boylan a few weeks ago.

Luis follows it up with 20 points and 8 boards in another losing effort (98:99), this time against the Kings. Good to see him go to the line 10 times. He was perfect there.

Scola scored 0 pts (0-2 FG) in 25 minutes on court  What happened?

And last night Scola had a big game in a win against Phoenix. Scola had 19 points, 5 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Carlos Delfino had 24 points, 5 rebounds and made 6/8 three-points in 21 minutes. He led Toronto in a big defeat of New Jersey, meaning that New Jersey cannot go to the play-offs.

Manu Ginobili rested last night against Seattle, but Fabricio Oberto scored 10 points and 10 rebounds in his usual bull-in-a-china-shop game. Andres Nocioni is still not being used in Jim Boylan's new system and nobody knows why. I saw the Cavs-Bulls game last night, and commentator Hubie Brown was asking the same questions I am: why is Nocioni playing so few minutes?

I've been asking the same myself... He could even be a starter.

No doubt! Nocioni is the best player on that team (OK, maybe Ben Gordon, who I really like) this year. He's a beast. He could start on a lot of teams. He's like a hyper Malik Rose. It's a shame what has happened to him under Boylan's coaching. Like I said a couple weeks ago, I guess that's why Nocioni had that "fight" with Boylan during practice, and perhaps the reason why their team is playing so poorly.

Delfino had 16 points (6-10), 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in 30 minutes against Orlando...an unfortunate loss.

Ginobili scored 29 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in 34 minutes. Good game in a big win against Phoenix:

...Parker scored 32 points and Ginobili added 29 for the Spurs, who kept their home-court advantage in tact and play Game 3 in Arizona on Friday.

“Between him (Parker) and Manu those guys were at the rim all night and making some shots over their bigs,” said Tim Duncan, who had 18 points and 17 rebounds. “Just a great game for both of them.”

...“A couple of times they (Parker and Ginobili) got to the basket,” O’Neal said. “We just have to make it tough for them to do that.”

....Ginobili was presented the NBA’s sixth man award, which he won on Monday, before tipoff. Suns G Leandro Barbosa, who won the award last year, came in second. “I think he (Ginobili) should start so that way LB (Barbosa) could get it,” joked Suns coach Mike D’Antoni. “I think he’s (Ginobili) one of the best players in the league. Sixth man, first man, third man, he should be on the All-Star team.”....
Suns Spurs Game Two -- April 23, 2008, by John Ludden, Yahoo! Sports

....Hill is new to this, so he should be forgiven for not having an answer. But if he and his teammates want to get back in this series, they’re going to have to come up with a solution for Parker and Ginobili.

“The whole league is trying to do that,” Hill said
.

Not everyone in the league has had as much trouble as the Suns. They traded for Shaq because they thought he would improve their interior defense, and yet they’ve allowed 128 points in the lane in the two games. In their past three playoff games against Phoenix, Parker and Ginobili have now totaled 63, 50 and 61 points...

...What was far less known was that the Spurs weren’t completely sure Ginobili would be able to play Tuesday. He missed three games toward the end of the season when a right ankle injury also led to a left groin strain. In Saturday’s game, Ginobili jammed his left ankle, which also caused his right groin to tighten. He had trouble practicing Monday and the team’s training staff didn’t clear him until after watching him work out before the game.

Ginobili said his ankle bothered him more than his groin, but it was hard to tell. Flanked by Parker, he helped the Spurs to a 23-4 advantage in fast-break points. Are the Suns now the ones struggling to keep pace?

After declaring that “the floppers prevailed” in Game 1, Shaq was much more generous in his praise. Ginobili and Parker, he said, played “fabulous.”....
