Alvin Patrimonio Thread

The only thing i can say about alvin patrimonio is his poor lay-up ability...a certified PBA and patrimonio fan would agree with me :p

Patrimonio stoppers:

Teng, Dignadice, Eric Reyes, Cheng, Abuda, Jackson

The most effective would be Chris Jackson.

Even the combination of Menk and Alvarado was no match for Alvin during the final years of his career.

reyes and cheng? i don't think so.
you should include ramon fernandez and abe king, two of the most dreaded defensive players.

Did Alvin Patrimonio dunked in his Entire PBA Career...? coz i only saw him dunking in commercials...:D:D:D

I think he dunked in one of those youtube links I gave.

We can attribute the longetivity of his career to his "safety first" style of play. He doesn't do too many layups or dunks. I think he was the PBA iron man at one point.

alvin still holds the record on must consecutive games played in the PBA....500+ games i think...

You can also add the fact that he was able to adjust and add more to his arsenal as he got older. I remember when I was still in grade school, he was more of a post player. In the latter part of his career (aka the Fil-Am invasion), he became more perimeter oriented.

I remember a dunk attempt wherein he was so frustrated with Jackson's defence that he tried to slam it in Jackson's face. The dunk rimmed out. I said to myself "he can do that?!"

Add Noli Locsin..

i think your pertaining to the "tower of power" Benjie Paras :D that is his favorite fast break dunk

i remember Patrimonio doing the reverse dunk on a fastbreak, but i agree sir its also the favorite dunk of Paras, during those times its one of the popular dunks

i remember during 1985 when alvin won his mvp award in the ncaa over the much favored macaraya of the champion team of baste. i believed that spark his long basketball career.

At long last a thread for one of the best players that played in the PBA.
Alvin will always be my basketball idol tremendous work ethic he really is a champion player

After Alvin retired, power forwards have become taller, stronger and more athletic. Someone has yet to match his skill set. His skill/style was ahead of its time.

i agree with you. it's really unfortunate that a player as talented as Alvin was doomed to play all his life in the PBA. :(

Please translate for the rest of us. No need to insult the whole league either, ASB.

im a huge fan of patrimonio. all im saying's that if only the PBA was not as lame as it's always been, patrimonio with all that talent would've achieved even greater heights. he could have been our version of fadi el khatib.
