exciting finish to the game with Amare Sy missing the free throw that would take the game into OT..
he missed, Tunisia is in the semis

just as I expected Tunisia were the one to advance to the semis;) but now they will be playing Angola so probably its the end of their run....I hope they can be 3rd

Tunisia is no joke (with a little bit of luck).

They've won their last three games by four points.

09 Aug. vs CAR 76-75 (1 point differential)
10 Aug. vs Cameroon 68-66 (2)
13 Aug. vs Mali 74-73 (1)

Next up, Angola.

Stuart

Nigeria - Cameroon 80-84 (23-26, 17-20, 16-20, 24-18)
4/20 (20%) 3-POINTERS 11/23 (48%)
12 TURNOVERS 24
1 more unexpected result

Wow two huge upsets, I had Nigeria as a mortal lock for going to Turkey next year, and Senegal I thought would at least play for 3rd. Wonder if FIBA Asia will have anything like that tonight.

Tough quarterfinal draw for Nigeria but I guess Mojado was right ;)

Tunisia has made a nice run but I hope they finish fourth, they will get blasted at the WC next year while Ivory Coast and Cameroon will be more competitive.

Imo,Nigeria is the only African team that could really be competitive next year if they could somehow field a squad with Diogu,Udoka and Eze.Angola is good but their lack of height is killing them in the world level.I'm dissapointed to see the Nigerians out of WC,a wild card seems unlikely i guess.

Great games, I guess no-one would have predicted those results. From the initial favourites only Angola remains. The Cameroon is the other only team that can at least match last year's place.

The game was decide because Senegal are more stupied...They make 15-0 streak in 3rd quarter lead comfortable in the middle of 4rd quarter but some terrific 3pt attempts decide the match.Off course they can't score in last 3 minutes...If when they have 4 pts lead and have a chance for 3pt shoot, they get scored it,they will won..But..The most awful action was when with 40 seconds remainin they loose with 2 pts and some guy pass to nothing..Before that they made 5 seconds...A terrific team..Now we have Angola and 3 bad teams..

Something is wrong with this championship I mean Nigeria are out!!!!! Senegal!!!!!! wow really big surprises just as if you say China are out from Asia or Argentina are out from American tournament!!! this is really going crazy, I wish we can crown a new champion this year, and maybe Tunisia would make another surprise (almost impossible for them) but nothing seems 2 be impossible after yesterday's games!!! Cameroon plays like Sh** but Nigerians wasted the game they had a superb press late in the 4th but wasted some easy attempts and couldn't get the win. By the way guys I don't see all the naturalized players playing with Libya, did Fiba Africa stop them or what?

Wow, Senegal and Nigeria failing for the second consecutive Afrobasket. Wow.

Senegal had as always the problem of having a weak backcourt, but a formidable frontcourt. Playing with El Kabir Pene and Ibrahima Mbengue and back then with Alpha Traore did not really helped the country.
Nigeria could have had a stronger team with Oyedeji, Eze, Udoka, Echefu,Ebekwe and maybe Diogu, but I liked the team spirit which has boosted them to the quarters where they caught a really bad day.

I won't make any preddicitons since I always pick the wrong ones to win, guess I am going to support the Camerounais but without any guessings :-)

Senegal lost to Nigeria..
but Ndong didn't play..
he played normal yesterday so I guess he got into some kind of fight either with federation or headcoach?

I told u guys Tunisia are a very good team, they showed a very high level against Angola and if they had a little better experience they might have won.
Congrats for the Angolans as for Tunisia I guess with such performance they can get the 3rd place and go to world cup.
Angola does not seem to be losing after Nigeria and Senegal are off I don't know if Cameroon or Ivory Cost can make some harm.....

Congrats to Angola, once again securing a bid to the world stage.

Also it's hard not to consider Tunisia the favorite in tomorrow's bronze medal game no matter who they play.

Côte d'Ivoire beats Cameroon 68-61, they lost to Angola by 27 points in the second group stage, hopefully they can put up a better performance in the final.

I am assuming it would be Tunisia's first trip to the World Championships?

Stuart

edit: they've a silver (1965) and bronze (1974) in Afrobasket history
edit2: looks like Tunisia's never been in a World Championship...
