Afrobasket 2009

Congrats Côte d'Ivoire, I was actually surprised to find they've won this tournament twice (so used to Angolan domination). First time back in the world championships since 1986. Hopefully they can give Angola a game tomorrow.
 
First WC for Ivory Coast since 1986. Do they have any potential additions from France or the US? They already have a pure recruit on their team in Errick Craven so maybe they will have a better one next year.
 
wow great game, now hopefully we can have a tough Final but I doubt CIV can stop Angola!!!

Tunisa 56 - Cameroon 50 !!
I hope Cameroon win this match but Tunisia has the better chance. both teams are playing bad IMO !
 
Tunisia is going to win, up 76-63 in the final 2 minutes. They deserve it, Cameroon looks really poor.

exactly :( I don't know how they beat Nigeria !!

Tunisia won 83-68
so we will have only one "real" african team on WC..
I hope Cameroon will receive a WC..

no they are, but not the same type like Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal etc.
strength, athleticism of african players etc.
Angola is the same, they lack height, athleticism etc. but their discipline and tactical knowledge is what is bringing them medals..
 
African Championship is always unpredictable after Angola...CIV is the fifth different team to face Angola in the final of the last five tournaments.

Angola lacks height but they have plenty of athleticism IMO, with the undersized Gomes and Mingas doing a great job inside in 2006.

These last two Afrobasket's for sure.

It will be the second consecutive Afrobasket that either Egypt or Senegal hasn't finished in the top-three.

From 1967 - 2005... that's twenty straight Afrobaskets with Egypt or Senegal in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place!

Angola is starting to lift off. The game was pretty much even until the start of the second half. Cipriano is carrying the Angolans with his penetrations.

Edit: unbelievable run for Ivory Coast, they are now within 2 :eek:
 
Congrats to Angola, even though it's expected doesn't make their domination any less impressive.

Also congrats to Tunisia on their first ever World Championship appearance.:D
 
Joaquim Gomes "Kikas" was again the MVP of the tournament after getting the 2007 honour.
