Hey, I did some advanced individual and team statistics for this Eurobasket that should be of interest. If you don't like numbers, don't click the links.

Ps: The tables aren't static. Click on a category in the first row to sart according to this category.
Ps: Negative values aren't ranked properly, but there aren't a whole lot anyway.

Hey,

I read through this and drawed some conclusions, but seeing how experienced you are with statistics you would probably also be much better at analyzing them. I would love to read some author sidenotes at the end - based on numbers of course.

Great work, thanks. I like what I see, especially in regards to Slovenian team. I wouldn't have guest that we have the lowest turnovers average and the biggest assist to turnover ratio. Great surprise!

We have to work on our rebounding though and a couple of less shots for the three (but if we keep the percentage we may as well shoot the lights out).

Thanks again.

Are you referring to the individual stats?

i was looking forward to read that. Thanks for your job, have already read a few and it's quite interesting :)

No, actually I am reffering to team statistics. Based on what you described, how should the matches go down, who are the favourites etc. Based on numbers of course, not including fan support, luck, bad days ... :)

You could call it Winning Eurobasket for dummies :p.

Great job robbe. As usual.

Greek loby will evaluate these stats and pass them to Jonas.

Fab, many thanks...
I was quite interested to compare Greece and Turkey and it seems that Greece is better in almost every stat category...However what the stats do not take in account is that Turkey played against teams with better stats than the Greek oppositions!

True. That's not a problem in a league where everyone is playing against each other, but in this group system, it's a huge influence. That's why we need to be careful with statistics.

Wouuww damn, incredible job robbe thx a lot.

If i try to make a 'quick analysis' out of these statistics, i can say somethings about this unpredictable eurobasket 2009 till now.

First, it seems that all the succesfull teams are trying to cover up their paints.

Second and the most important, if you want to win in this eurobasket, you gotta control the ball well and if you do you'll get least turnover following you to control the game and pace and here you go eventually , you'll get your win.

And i think out of all eurobasket i've watched, this one is especially all about fundamental, doing all the basics right. That's the key if you wanna win.

Yes, I could have been more accurate, but I wanted to get this out at minimum four or five hours before the quarter finals started. Now, if I have time for it, I can go more into it before semis or the final game.

Good points. Some more:

1. Seven of the eight slowest teams are in the quarter finals. We must consider though that the group with Serbia, Slovenia and Great Britain was a very slow group.
2. Free throw shooting is catastrophic. Okay, we wouldn't need detailed statistics for that. France's 62,1 percent could really hurt them
3. No offense in this Eurobasket is as effective as the top Euroleague offenses last season. [TAU 1,17 P/TPS, CSKA 1,16 P/TPS ; Slovenia leading Eurobasket with 1,14 P/TPS]

That would be great :)
