Didnt see much of the game. But it was close until Gins made a bunch of 3 pt shots in the 4th and TNT could not make anything. Cone is really good at adapting. TNT needs to do a better job of running off the 3. Pogoy might have had a hard time keeping up with Pringle on drives and challenging Malonzo on the 3. Malonzo seems to have a high 3 FG when he can set his feet and elevate.

Pogoy is physical, plays with a lot of effort, and has decent speed on defense, but sometimes he has a hard time closing out and guarding shifty players 1-on-1. Against Scottie and Pringle, I'm not sure he can take them. Maybe Brownlee when isolated, but on catch-and-shoot situations where he has to rotate to guys like Gray, Malonzo, and Brownlee, he kinda has a tough time.

Franchise record for most number of threes made in a game for Ginebra

At 3:04, Ryan Gregorio comments about how Cone is now using the 3-ball as one of his main weapons

oftana with 16 points and 4/6 from 3-pt land. when he plays well tnt has a bigger chance of winning.

Glad that Oftana is now playing a bigger role with TNT as a shot creator, not just a standstill shooter guy. Hope he retains his defense, though, so that he could still be useful for Gilas (where he will be called on more for defense and threes than shot creation).

I thought TNT were gonna screw up his development like they did with Troy. Now, he's a key player for them. Kudos to the team.

Pogoy's out for the finals due to a fractured pinky suffered in Game 3.

Despite that, TNT are shooting well. Even RHJ is making threes, and Montalbo's contributing. I also saw a lineup with more Oftana-Khobuntin-RHJ, sometimes with Oftana and Khobuntin as the 2/3 players. Finally, they're running their version of a positionless lineup, since they have the tools.

Is it a case of an improvement by subtraction? Pogoy's defense has not really been topnotch for a longtime now. Montalbo is shorter but he can move his feet. He is probably a better matchup for Pringle right now. Also, I guess Oftana can play some SF now.

Also, only caught a few minutes of the game. CStan only made 10 pts 3 rbs, though with 9 asts. How was TNT able to defend him?

Series of ginebra and tnt is down to a best of three.

the team that is making the most 3 in the game wins.

lol @ all about's comment but he is somehow right, team who hit their threes the most here would win the series unless they turn it to a defensive type of a game....

the dip of play in brownlee's game due to fatigue gives tnt a punchers chance even with pogoy out and ginebra doesnt have an answer yet on rhj's fade away shot..

Pogoy also rules himself out of the SEA Games pool

Justin Brownlee went back to the locker room he's suffering from a food poison illness. He might not return in this game.

Big win for TNT. They were great in the 2nd half and down the stretch, especially defensively. No Brownlee for Ginebra helped, but still. And the effort was great.

I don't wanna jump into conclusions, but Pogoy's minutes going to Khobuntin, Oftana, and maybe even Kelly and Montalbo might be a positive for TNT. Khobuntin and Oftana are surer shots, Kelly has provided great effort. Even Montalbo is a positive contributor, an upgrade from his past Gilas stints where he was mostly fouls and bricks.

Malonzo going straight to the locker after committing his 6th foul and the game was not over yet. lol :D

I think calvon oftana had it (that troy was lacking).. but story is rhj out producing brownlee on this series..

It would be good long term for ginebra if they ever lose this one as they will now rely outside of brownlee from now on..

I think it helped Yeng played him more as SF/SG in NLEX despite initially wanting him to play PF. There he created from the perimeter. Also his early exposure in Gilas surely helped. Made him aware what he needed to compete at that level. Troy was never developed to be like that. Chot or who ever was his coach just wanted him to be a mobile PF like old Kelly. Like an Arwind. Kudos also to Calvin's college. They have a good track record of developing mobile skilled forwards.

And like it or not it was actually Pogoys injury that allowed him to play his role in NLEX in TNT. Prior to that he was more of a Troy role because there were already a lot of ball dominant players in TNT.

This really shows the limitation of Brownlee. Yes he is skilled, good work ethic. But he is old for a basketball player. An ace SF like RHJ can neutralize him. Well JB can be more of a glue guy I guess.

Brownlee is a good import no doubt, but he’ll get trashed by younger ex nba players, RHJ is just tiers above JB

Ginebra doesnt need star players they need depth..even fajardo had a gabby espinas as backup.. they need someone who is kobile who can bang bodies that glenn khobuntin does ala caelan tiongson

Correct. Someone like RHJ is too much for Brownlee. RHJ might be a horrible offensive player by NBA standards ( one of the reasons he's playing in the PBA instead of the NBA) but that doesn't matter in the PBA where the defense is way below NBA standards. He's like a smaller LeBron in there

Troy had the tools to be a switchable four, e. TNT just screwed up his development. He was 23 as a rookie, so there was still time and room. Sure, the environment and context at the time wasn't really towards positionless basketball, but that was already the time when positionless ball was showing up with the Big 3 Heat and the 2015-19 Dubs. The groundwork was already being laid. Man, that was a wasted opportunity. Instead of being a versatile forward, he became just a stretch four with a high motor, but a defensive liability. Even Arwind and Kelly could move laterally and cover ground on defense.

At least TNT didn't screw up with Oftana. They staggered his minutes, as well as Castro's, Pogoy's, and Mikey's, and allowed him to play as a shot creating 2/3 after relegating him to a 3&D role.
