I just made inferences based on what I read, a.

Did Trollano, Rios et al. shoot since their Adamson days? If I remember, Trollano does have a post game.

Trollano played power forward in Adamson and he was a good shooter that time. He was used mainly as a cutter there. Same with Rios. There are only two players with the same length as Rios and Trollano that were licensed to shoot threes under Austria - Janus Lozada and Roider Cabrera.

Yes they have shooting. Trollano had better efficiency now. So Coach Leo was open to shooting big men especially Bono. That guy could have stayed in the paint and he will overpower most C at that time but he was allowed consistently to shoot from 3pts.

Lozada was the guy that was featured on Wish ko lang or something right? The one who used to wear tattered shoes to play basketball. That Adamson squad was legit. Even the bench guys are as good as starters. Too bad the only sure wins that time were against UP.

I think Bono was decent in the post but he was still overweight. Making him focus on the paint would sap his energy. At 6'5 he was a bit undersized for center. I think 6'7 Rabeh was the Ateneo center then. Even in pickup games you get that undersized center who is immovable on defense but too short to score in the paint but has a good outside shot. Bono was decent in the paint but too overweight to be called dominant. Without his shooting he would be huffing and puffing all game long. It was his outside shooting that made him special.

In 2010 and 2011, Adamson was a contender. The core of Manyara, Galinato, Camson, Colina, Lozada, Nuyles, Alvarez, Canada, Cabrera, Brondial, and Rios. That was an 11-man deep team team.

By far, the 2010's was the strongest Adamson we see since 2000. 5 final four appearances during the last decade.

I don't know. I watch his game and he wasn't so much overweight at that time, unlike now. He was young and full of energy. Able to go up and down. He could do a Jervy Cruz and that shot midrange and inside but he extended his range to 3pts. He was ave. 21pts per ball game and was UAAP MVP. What I like about him was he can drive to the basket from 3pt?

Its just unfortunate that Jericho Cruz was not able to join this batch as he was red-shirting for two years.

Trollano took also a long route before playing. He spent two years in UE before being cut by Lawrence Chongson. He spent a year red shirting again before finally suiting up for Adamson.

He was cut by Chongson? I remember him bragging about his new recruits in PEX which includes Trollano and Frando. I thought he was let go since Chongson was replaced.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Bono really undersized? Like 6'3 at best. Like Jervy Cruz

Yes thats what I recall. Trollano was cut from UE during the time of Chongson. Bono looks taller and wider than Jervy Cruz.

IRC the Franz Pumaren team was also strong. It was filled with long switchable guys. I remember feeling relieved that the Desiderio Maroons was able to defeat them in the Final four.

NLEX trying to secure FIBA clearance for Simmons to play against Blackwater tomorrow

NLEX is pulling out all the stops to have import Jonathon Simmons play for the team in its PBA Governors Cup debut against Blackwater on Wednesday.

The former NBA player apparently has yet to get a FIBA clearance from his team in the Chinese Basketball Association on the eve of the Road Warriors' 3 p.m encounter with the Bossing.

But NLEX isn't giving up on securing a clearance, even at the last minute.

If everything else fails, the team is ready to play without an import.

"Ginagawan pa naman ng paraan. But there's a chance na baka maglaro rin kami ng walang import," a team officiial who asked not to be named said.

Simmons, who played for San Antonio, Orlando, and Philadelphia in the NBA, continued to practice for the Road Warriors.

Even if granted clearance, Simmons' stint with NLEX could be a short one as the import only plans to play with the Road Warriors until Feb 5 or 6 before returning to China where a bigger offer awaits him.

"Makaka-apat na games pa siya sa amin kung sakali," added the NLEX insider.

When Desiderio was a UP hero. Now...
