Ginebra got outclassed today. The Dragons brought it on defense, and Ginebra couldn't get much going outside of Brownlee. Cone was out of ideas, Goorjian out-tacticked him today.

Nice bounce back game from aussie chinese blankley..

looks like this series will be a long chess match, which is good for the pba and phil basketball

This Finals series could be a showcase on how Philippine teams should build and develop their teams in order to help them (and to an extent, their players) compete outside the Philippines. Good offensive players and systems, and tall, versatile forwards who can help out on offense and defense. The versatile forwards part is crucial as well, and that's Bay Area's advantage over almost every team.

Ginebra has Brownlee and Malonzo, and Bay Area has Blankley and Zhu Songwei. Both sets of versatile forwards who are crucial cogs in their systems, both offensively and defensively.

This was the result of BAD getting equal whistles as GSM. Before the game Goorjan asked what were the legal defensive moves. And he also wondered why Nicholson got bumped by CS with no calls and Brownlees defenders got fouls doing the same thing. Ive always said PBA series simulate the NBA hometown calls by alternating favorable calls for teams. Lets see if the calls stay the same or favor GSM again.

How true is it that NLEX's import for the upcoming Govs. Cup is former Spur Jonathan Simmons?

Brownlee says that he bled for his points against 6'9" Zhu Songwei: https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/...-he-got-the-size-very-versatile-a793-20221231

Well, height and length, and the speed to go with it, is important, especially in the forward positions, although they are not the only factor. Can help out on defense, and give imports like Brownlee a harder time scoring.

Although, Brownlee did bleed for his points against 6'4" Anthony Semerad, and I think 6'4" Cliff Hodge.

Isn't that the dude that got 3 fouls in the first 3 minutes of game 1?

Having a local guard an import is big as it allows your team's import to pace himself. I think imports guard the other team's import most of the time?

Yeah, same guy. Yeah, having a local that guard an import at his position is really big.

As for imports guarding each other, I think that's the case, since they have the size and strength to match up against each other.

Its how the refs call it. I wonder how Goorjan reacts when the refs tilt the calls back again to Gin's favor and Zhu again is in foul trouble.

Converge acquires Ebona, 2023 pick from Blackwater in exchange for DiGregorio, Tyrus Hill and RK Ilagan.

Blackwater is reportedly signing Paul Zamar also.

Terrafirma renews Juami Tiongson for another 2 years.

What happened TNT? No likely prospects?

That's the worst officiated game that I watched since the Kings vs. Lakers in 2002

Looks like Myles Powell might suit up on Friday as Andrew Nicholson's ankle looks bad

Tough stretch ahead for the Bay Area Dragons. This last 4 games (if necessary) would question the depth of this squad. To make things worse, Nicholson should be questionable for the next game onwards.

Maybe a blessing in disguise for them. Highly doubt it that Powell is the answer, but who knows.
