Dominant game from the lighter Junemar 24 pts 15 rbs 6 ast 3 blks. Makes you wonder how better he would have been if he was lighter in his prime. Good game also for Serrano and Tio. Competitive games like this and good players will make PBA relevant. Foreign leagues cannot absorb all the good PH ballers and the Fiba ineligibles.

While he's still no Embiid nor Jokic, i think he would have developed an all-around offense with a much better perimeter game, while sacrificing his uber-dominance in the paint but still miles ahead of his homegrown counterparts. Not sure about his perimeter defense though. Perhaps it would have been slightly better especially guarding pick and rolls?

tio and serrano played well in their first game. smallish backcourt along with melecio though phoenix lead guards in jazul and garcia are kinda old already.

Changing of the guard for PHX, it looks like it.

Would you believe that some people here are against the idea of JF shooting 3's? And coach leo be more creative? Yep..

I kind of get the aversion because it's just so uncommon for PBA guys 6'10" and above to have a perimeter/outside game, well, save for some of the imports from the past seasons. We got so used to JMF's inside dominance and it being the reason for SMB's past successes, too. Another thing pertaining to their game earlier, he was granted the chance to shoot from the outside because of PHX's lack of a dominant rebounding bigman, giving Kots Leo opportunity to experiment.

With the exit of Calvin then Justine, Phoenix lost a lot of offensive wallop. Looks like Tyler and Encho are exactly what the doctor ordered for them. I'm not sure that Jayvee is ready to fill in MW's role. He still needs to adapt to the SF role. He is far from Wright as a shooter and a ball handler. Wright seems to have added a killer perimeter jumper to his arsenal. He even hit a banked shot over Junemar. Is his contract until the AFC only?

Mr. Wright? Yes. Till end of AFC..

Not sure when MW's contract is supposed to end, but i think he's about to enter free agency as the 7 years is almost up.

I agree with Mocon not being MW's immediate successor at this point. That immersion to Chot's DDO system last SEA Games really did wonders for his overall ball handling/play making abilities. But Mocon is capable, i believe. He just needs repetitions to play the wing position and shoot more.

Tyler and Encho has to consistently show up in their next games like they did earlier to fully earn Coach Topex's trust.

SMB might have won it's first game and Coach Leo might have tweaked his plays a bit but he is still playing 3 of his starters heavy minutes. Perez: 41, Ross: 40, Lassiter: 39. Perez might be young enough to handle it but not sure about Ross and Lassiter. He needs to use his bench. Cruz might be injured but he should use Herndon. JMF I think has his mins pegged at 34. They better be. Leo better not break his leg again by playing him too much.

The team is not as potent as it was in its death 5 prime. But Junemar has more help down low now. When before Arwind would just hangout from the outside. Also Junemar is faster and does not need refs help to defend guards.

If Junmar wants to have a long career in the NBA. He needs to consistently shoot 3 pointers. Playing in the low posts, and heavy minutes was the no.1 reason why he was injured.

jeez, in a team as loaded as SMB, why are players lodging 39+ minutes. boggles the mind...

diba? if healthy they can go 10-12 man deep yet Coach Leo, channeling his inner Tom Thibodeau runs his core group to the ground, to think Ross and Lassiter are in their mid 30s and Junmar just recovered from a serious injury.

Looks like Chot is in the mood for handing out historical wins (for his opponents)
