Tiongson watching too much Steph Curry.

5-28 outside shooting for Terrafirma, jesus f*cking christ what kind of shooting form do our players have. Phoenix is not even a defensive team.

It's been a decade now since the GSW's Splash bros showed the rest of the basketball world how spectacular and at the same time devastating a consistent and high-volume 3-point arsenal is, and it's mind boggling that our locals haven't really caught up and improved that much. Considering the love of Pinoys for everything spectacular in basketball, 3-pt shooting should have been a regular staple for offense for years now.

One thing that filipino players are awful with in relation to 3pt shots are, good off the ball movement and good screen sets, I rarely see good screens in the PBA it's often just screen for the sake of setting it, before you know it the defender is already back

Something wrong with the TnT management if they can't hold on to their star players. From TR7 to BRP to now Mikey Williams.

whatever happened between TNT and tautuaa. he's another one that "got away".

they trade mo and a first round pick and second round pick for romeo and taha.

then they eventually traded romeo for heruela, david semarad, and a first round pick. wat???

well in MVP's eyes, acquiring Semerad alone makes the trade worth i, kidding aside, TNT could have gotten more assets for Terrence. Oh well, 2016-present TNT is slowly turning to Petronovela

Nope. No one wanted Terrence when TNT got him. His coach said they were surprised there were not many offers. MVP was a real Terrence fan boy then. Guaranteeing that Terence will bring a championship. So MVP was bidding against himself when he got Terrence. He could have done an SMB and got Terrence for change but he didnt. But it failed. Terence is no Castro or Alapag
he was most effective as a 6th man in SMB.His demand was at an all time low after TNT. That is why SMC got him for almost nothing.

they could've just sat him out instead just like what they're doing to slaughter now. and i mean, to trade him to SMB, for that weak return? SMB, the crown jewel of their rival conglomerate? really a strange move.

For me, that SMC/Northport did to Slaughter was unprofessional move... A very weak one... All Slaughter want is to leave Northport and play other PBA teams that wants to win, Not to just play for a farm team that has no intention to win at all... Atleast MVP group still care for players' security and not to hold players' rights to play someone else... They let Kiefer and Parks go to Japan even they can do ala Slaughter to hold, and they release Terrence because they knew Romeo's job is to play basketball only... SMC/Northport didn't care of Slaughter's security job as a professional player.. All they did is a selfish move.. Slaughter has family to feed, Now i don't know where Slaughter getting his money as of now... Kawawa yung tao, they hold him because of greediness... And you tell it's a good move that SMC/Northport did to Greg is a good one? Cmon!!!!!

Well the first stone was Greg refusing a trade and retiring instead. That being said SMC should be above petty grievances. AFC of course isnt. Look what he did to Snow.

That's why i don't trust Al Chua, nor being a good GM either... If he has concern to player's job security then he should let Greg play other PBA teams... His teams are strong anyway.. What he should afraid of Greg? Why ROS handle Mocon's situation more professional? Because they still concern of their players... Greg has still a big value if traded... Greg doesn't want to be in SMC... Di ba magets ni Chua yun? He has lucky that SMC has unlimited resources, That's why it's very easy for them to convince their players to stay.... What Chua doing right now is greedy move... I will laugh very hard if he gets his KARMA sooner...

My level of trust in AFC/SMC is low. Im under no impression that they'll do what is necessary to fix PH basketball. But I know they have a bigger budget so at least that's an upgrade. Its not like MVP will do what is necessary as well.

SBP will be so stupid if they will bring back Coach Chot. Coach Nenad did a fine job even with a depleted line up without a naturalize center. Coach Nenad deserves the head coaching duties.

This is a real huge marketing problem for PBA. PBA has to keep its relevance and maintain the stature of having the best players in the Philippines. Kaya lang, everytime we send PBA players and coaches, it is always a disaster compared to when we send out our young players with foreign coaches. Just look at all these competitions that Yeng and Reyes with their top PBA players played. PBA is losing fans quickly and if they don't have any involvement in the 2023 World or any major competition, they are dead. PBA should prove that they remain the best in the land. I would suggest that in the next Jones Cup or something similar, Philippines should send 2 teams. The first is an all PBA top players with a PBA coach and the second by the young Gilas coached by Nenad or Tab. Of course, that is a big gamble for the PBA team but if they win, then they will be able to maintain their reputation as the best in the Philippines.

The PBA is like the men of the night's watch. from an outsider's viewpoint, they're just a bunch of ne'er-do-wells and derelicts who have no real purpose in the greater scheme of things. but from their own perspective, they're this historic and all-important organization whose noble tasks far outweigh those of others in the realm.

If the PBA wants to survive, it must let go of its "traditions" and learn to adjust to an all-inclusive environment. Allow more foreign coaches and players and stop this idiocy of imposing height restrictions to imports. So, basically, the PBA needs a Jon Snow to save its ass, someone from the inside but understands the real situation and needs of the realm called ph basketball.

The PBA isnt close to dying . In fact they are doing better than any competition, even the UAAP, ratings wise. Maybe its position as top feeder to the NT is in serious trouble but they are gonna have to accept thats gonna happen at some point. Its possible they can compete with the KBL and BLeague talent wise but Europe and the NBA? No way. Gonna have to accept that will be the reality if PH basketball will improve in the future.

it's close to dying. if not for Ginebra, the league is already dead. just watch the games. from few spectators to almost inexistent spectators. gate attendance is the bread and butter of the PBA.

I hope Ramon Ang should get Noli Eala as SBP chairman if they will take over the SBP post... He knows how to run this position and understands international basketball... Chua meanwhile doesn't know what is happening in international basketball.... Or atleast Eric Altamirano will be the head of SBP under SBP... If Chua will be the head of SBP, malamang he will hire his "superfriends" (Pido, Cardel, Austria) as Gilas coach... Patay tayo dyan!!!

When that happens, the sooner RSA would realize the difference between international and PBA ball and does the proper appointments, the better. AFC can still have a role with SBP but it must not undermine that of the program director's. He may be vindictive and cunning, but at least he's not a usurper, at least at this point.

Ratings wise they more than doubled the UAAP. Thats with the UAAP having top draws and a big storyline while the PBA only had Ginebra. If thats dying then what is the UAAP?

again, UAAP has its own market. they are also televised in one sports and the varsity channel - one is in digital tv and the other is a cable channel.

PBA has a wider target market, supposedly. they are also aired in TV5 which has a wider coverage (analog, digital and cable).

the difference between the target market and the network they are being aired is glaring.

where can we see the ratings to compare?

The UAAP finals aired in TV5 not One Sports. Both were lead-ins to Ang Probinsyano and aired on the same day(Friday). UAAP's market is bougie and smaller. I mean its market is still large and is doing fine but Id argue the PBA is doing the same if not better.

PBA is all business and I don't think they'll even touch the national team program with a ten foot pole if the honchos are swimming in money.

Let the PBA entertain the masses. I hope they go regional, they'll earn more money that way which will allow them to hire more quality imports and foreign players. But don't meddle with the national team if they're not going to put their heart into it. Let the SBP handle the selection process and the training.
