I see us cursing next year about the bad defensive performance of Vasiliadis

good game for the liths!

fasoulaki.. it was about time.. like its about time to give a Greek scorer the chance to play in Greek NT. i am talking about Diamantopoulos.

Diamantopoulos doesn't have the right mentality 4 this team.Plus his defense is not bad, it's inexistent!Probably Vasileiadis or Pelekanos will take(or keep) his place. And if Giannakis is still in charge(which I think will happen), don't count Kyritsis out!I know he is not better than the ones I mentioned, but Giannakis knows him from Maroussi and likes him.

kyritsis simple shouldnt even walk by the court when greek nt plays... maybe he could be a good water boy.

mmm true diamantopoulos cant play defense...

navarro can....

macijauskas can...

big scorers can....

except jordan? :(

I don't consider Kyritsis good enough either.
about Jordan...I don't understand what u mean.but anyway, Jordan was a top defender too.and it's true that big scorers r not good defenders.but watch macijauskas' defense 4 example and compare it with Diamantopoulos.at least Macas is trying, while Diamantopoulos isn't.if he changes that, I'd like 2 have a scorer like him in the NT.:)

After all, this Eurobasket was outstanding!!! Great victory by European basketball :D

well it was ironic... meant that the only top scorer that was also a top defender was jordan.

last year with samara diamantopoulos TRIED to play defense. (while he cant becuz he isnt kin on defense )

Moment of the game - Šaras discusses with Theo some questionable moment, they agree on something and then hug each other and even give a kiss on one another's cheek.

I noticed that moment too. It was really the high-light of the game :)

good move by chatzivretas.great defender but not the scorer he used to be
time for other guys to step in!
i think its time for kakiouzis to retire also so he can have more time to write books:D

and of course the big question is on papadopoulos.i dont think he will retire.
will yannakis take the decision to put him out?

My congratulations to Lithuania. Fully deserved the bronze and maybe more.

As for Greece, I was dissapointed with the appraoch we had for this game and the fact we commited suicide starting with Diamantidis' elbow on Kleiza(???) and the idiot Papadopoulos' TF for no good reason. I think that decided the game as well as Lithuania's 3-p shooting which was astonishing.

4th place is a success for Greece for the basketball we played overall. The 1st 3 teams all deserved their medals whilst I beleive there was nothing between teams from 4th-8th. Possibly also Yannakis. The team was out of ideas pretty much most of the tournament and sorry, I don't buy Fotsis; and Sofo's adbsences. Other teams were missing players too.

Thanks to Hatzivrettas for his commitment but it's time for some new blood. Kakiouzis and Papadopoulos should also go.

No he will not. Giannakis is always repeating from the start of the tournament what a good player Papadopoulos is. He wants to keep Papadopoulos in the roster and that is the reason why he did not give more play time to Bouroussis.

He does not want Bouroussis to be established in the roster at least not as a center. He wants Bouroussis to play on 4 and to keep Padaopoulos and Schortsianitis as centers. But Bouroussis does not like to play on 4. He sees himself as a 5.

Only after it became obvious even to my grandmother and my aunt that Papdopoulos was not in good shape and we need other options in the frontline he made use of Bouroussis in the game against Spain in the qualifying round. But he used him as a 4 and only after Papadopoulos was charged with the third foul he used him on the center position.

It is a pitty that Bouroussis was hit by diarrhea and high fever and he could not play against Spain in the semifinal!

well he cant be considered as a Center when he cant play inside the basket... thats funny..
he can only shoot and dunk. he cant play against the basket...

and he makes incredible blocks. The problem is he does not play with his back turned to the basket.

Unfortunately for Bourou he hasn't had the luck playing along side great centres to learn how to post. This year he improved his distance shooting. Hopefully he will learn to post this year. He is a great investment for Greek basketball. I've always liked his attitude.

I can also say that Greece WON Vasilopoulos in this tournament. He will be even better in the future as he finds his legs and place. Definately to be a future NT captain.

Papadopoulos out?
For who? Guys, he had a bad tournament overall. Relax. We owe a lot to these guys. Papadopoulos should remain the center of the Greek NT for at least another two years. Then Koufos can start taking over along with Sofo or Bourousis. We'll see how these players will evolve.

οnly a pure Greek has these kind of thoughts.

so lets wait for koufos to get 25-30 years old before he stop being a "talent" after all Greece is well known for their "talents" which are 25 years old... like we screwed Diamantopoulos talent...

anyway.

Papadopoulos should get kicked from the NT along with Kakiouzis , Ntikoudis.
Papaloukas will probly wants to rest.. so if he comes to the olympics it will be his last tour with our NTs colors.

p.s

Koufos not only can play but he can be our leader starting from the olympic games ;)

I disagree with you about Dikoudis. He was our best "big man" this tournament. I don't think we are in the position to let Papaloukas rest. 2-3 changes at most. It's not as if we have to build a new team after a disaster.

Papadopoulos really got on my nerves this tournament. He only played 1/2 a gmae when he should have stepped up with Fotsis and Sofo's absence yet I think he spent too much time making statments about the state of Greek basketball than concentrating on being ready (physically and mentally) for the tournament.
