when is batum ever going to gain any respect in this forum. there he goes again playing really well in a big game.

FRA looks like the better team so far. Valanciunas keeping LTU in the game.

LTU is only hanging because of Valanciunas so far. France looked like a better team. If they are able to stop Valanciunas in the second half then Lithuania will loose and by a decent margin too.

France has more skilled players, but LTU can out tough anyone.

France has no answer for Valanciunas. He's dominating Diaw and Gobert.

Lithuania has big advantage, because France is playing back-to-back 19 hours since last, very intense game...I agree with Collet, its another stupid and unfair schedule detail by FIBA. This will be a miracle if France can win it in the end.

I would say, fresh Valanciunas is dominating tired French frontline. Now Pietrus injured, another problem for France.

But Liths have no answer for Batum too. Its like Valanciunas vs Batum now.

If even Jankunas can make buckets, it will be hard for France. It makes me laugh to read some people think Valanciunas is overrated. It depends exactly what yardstick is taken to rate him, but I don't know of so many centers of that age who are both so tough and so skilled low post. France looking very tired right now.... help defense no more.... it will be hard...

Valanciunas played more minutes than anyone from French frontline. You have to take that into account. Valanciunas isnt really fresh.

Another day of rest wasn't going to make Diaw and taller or Gobert any stronger. Valanciunas beats that team up today, tomorrow, or next week.

What's up with the French defense? France looks so dead on the field, I was hoping that they would manage to get their head in the game after last night...

They have nobody that can contain Valanciunas. LTU's offense revolves around him and if you can't defend him with one player you are going to be in trouble.

I don't totally agree. Jonas is a liability but he's not Jonas the problem I was referring to, it's everyone else. Jonas is walking around the rim, French players couldn't keep the pace with the other four players on the field and were falling out on some basic plays. They stepped up now, it's an interesting game in the end.

Any LTU possession that ends without Valanciunas touching the ball should be scored as a turnover.

Difficult to contain him when he elbows around like in every match and instead of getting offensive foul, he is rewarded with basket+1. Easy to "dominate" this way, in NBA he can't do that.

Yeah but that's FIBA officiating. Need to adjust to it. It isn't like he's the only one that gets away with it.

and we have nobody to contain french wings Batum and Diaw...we are losing this now

Valanciunas ran out of gas at the end. Couldn't finish a couple of easy looks.

Looks like France is going to take 3rd place behind Diaw's brilliance.
