the favorites of semifinals are looking for a medal at least in the opening act of the day. Can Australia finally get one?

They have already beaten France a few days back. Rooting for the Boomers.
 
Rooting for AUS in this one. They play great team basketball.
 
To be honest, whoever gets the bronze medal will be well deserved, but taking into account that this Australian team didn't get anything in the last years and with the squad they got, i'd be happy to see them in the podium.
 
While deserve's got nothing to do with it, I want to see Australia break through.

No team since the Philippines in freaking 1954 has medaled outside the Americas and Europe in either the Olympics or World Cup. Australia's finished 4th four times. Let this be the time for them to finally get on the podium.
 
Failing to win in regulation by a mere free throw, playing through 2 OTs and then finally losing the chance at a historic gold (and a guaranteed silver) is probably going to play with the Aussie's minds a hell of a lot more than France losing by a bigger margin. I think Les Bleus are going to deny Australia a medal yet again.
 
I think Australia is the better team here and they will get their medal.
But there is no such thing as 'deserving'. You just go out there and get it done.
 
Oh man France struggling in the paint and Gobert cant do shit so far.

That is definitely his main basketball skill:D.
He is a below average talent at the NBA level, but he has basically made a career out of being a great teammate.
 
Australia played better in semifinal ,but let opponent stay alive and got burned in the end. They are doing same mistake in bronze game again...
 
Finally some good calls to those provocateurs / flop masters and it's a different game.
 
Batum sparking a French comeback. Down to 2. 4th quarter is gonna be fun.
Definitely some rivalry between these two teams. You can feel a brawl could break out at any moment.

The basketball gods again :D

Maybe if Australia played with some composure instead of bricking shot after shot they would have not relinquished the lead. Looks like they can't handle the pressure.

pretty tough when the refs call every 50/50 against you and tech fouls that werent there, offesnive fouls that werent their
