and we have players assembled in few weeks before the actual competitions... what do you expect to happen??? we dont lack the talent and the skills... we lack the time to build a team for international competitions...
in case you dont remember our 1994 RPteam ,1998 PBA centinnial team, and the 2002 RP team were formed months before the asian games, but still we'd come up short.. i know a month or two is still not enough. although i agree that preparation time is really needed for our team to really start playing like a real champion team. and it could be an excuse, but still its entirely our fault, if we are the best in asia then our preparation should've been for the best.

Only the rules changed rules changed... the level... i guess is much the same because during the time all those who played basketball use the same rules.
what? basketball influence in other asian countries werent as influential as it is today. obviously other asian countries have learned to love basketball as much as we do. countries like taiwan, japan and korea were also very much influenced by the anime series slam dunk which featured an underdog team making it all the way to finals. after that basketball in asia has been bigger than what it used to be. in my opinion basketball now is really close to becoming the most popular sport in the world... thus, making other countries strive more to win in these sport, just like how crazy the world is with soccer/futbol.

im not saying that we are the best in asia nowadays...
i think your data is wrong.. we captured the gold in 1985.
as i have said... we only send Class A Teams in Asian games...
ABC and other tournaments, we sent Class C & D...
ANd these people are judging the performance of our present team from our Class C & D teams who competed in international tournament such as ABC...
i agree with you that our rp team is really underrated. but again thats our fault, its because of our poor international basketball program, thus, these further prove that we arent the best.
maybe now that a few things have been fixed in our international basketball program then maybe we could make our wayto being the best, but not yet as of now.

As i am saying here... we can beat teams like Lebanon, Japan or Qatar easily... as per my assesment of all these teams not only because i love Philipines to win. We have beaten these teams before in exhibition games with our Class A players. Eshibition games only because our Class A team from PBA were not able to join because of its own tournament schedules.

Mine is a fair and square assesment... i've seen Lebanon, Qatar, Iran, japan kind of game and brand of basketball... and the way our NT is palying and preparing now... we should not have any problems beating these teams...
EASILY??? NO PROBLEMS?? are you sure? i dont think so. although i really do hope that we beat them, but saying that beating them easily is just too much. although we may have beaten qatar in numerous occassions with big margins, we still cant say if we can beat them easily right now, coz, just like our team, their team has evolved, not to mention naturalizing galore which gives them a whole lot of an advantage. also, they have beaten Korea in the past FIBA asia tournament, korea is a team that we havent beaten for a very long time. as for japan, they have had experience in the recent WBC and may have learned a lot from that, also, we have beaten japan in the past, but not easily. and as for lebanon, we beat them in two exhibition games, i expect them to be looking for revenge...
so much for fair and square..
i believe we cant really tell yet on who's gonna beat who in the coming tournament.

I cannot blame this peole why they look down the present Philippine Team. They have based their judgment from the previous teams we sent in international competitions which were Class C & D from PBL & MBA which are far more inferiors compared to our Class A players from PBA.
are you referring to me? i dont even look at our team C and D... i have always looked up and compared other teams to our team A, the team we send in the asian games, and yet we havent won it all lately thats
why i say we arent the best. and how dare you call our team C & D inferiors? i dont look down on our RP team i just dont look very much up high to them but i do look up to them.

We even made good impressions to US Basketball League (USBL) a profesional basketball League in the US on how the RP NAtionals play and its talent in basketball when they played in the US soil in April 2007.
I believe that these people are misjudging our present NT. Well, as i have said... we will make a good surprise for the these teams who neglected our prowess in basketball.
Of course those victories also gave me a good impression on our national team, and also it made me confident that we may be soon ready for the fiba asia tournament. but those wins doesnt tell anything about our opponents.
i believe that our RP team will really perform well this comming tournament and really could win it all. but we really wont know for sure.
thinking and believing that we'll make it through to the finals EASILY may just leave us dissappointed and humiliated. but respecting our opponents and acknowledging well on what they can do can help us make better judgements on our NT and other opposing NTs.
