i dont really brush off our past achievements and i really admire it and acknowledge it. but what i believe that we should do is to put these achievements on our trophy cases and use it to inspire us. then we should start from scratch and acknowledge the fact the we arent the best right NOW and take the necessary steps to get back our glory here in asia then the world. coz we dont really know if we can make it happen all over again.
the level of competition right now is very much different from the 50's and the 80's, basketball has evolved all around the world, and achieving or past achievements again would be nearly impossible as it is every countries goal to surpass these achievements. and i bet that it is also nearly impossible for our RP nt to repeat these achievements. because of countries having a very deep budget and limitless resources.
i'd say that we ARE the best in asia if we could prove that we could win it all again, but with Lebanon, South Korea, Qatar, China and a whole lot of NTs aiming to be the best, we are far from being the best right now. as history shows we have not been asian champions for the last 10 asian games competitions and also for the last 8 fiba asia basketball competitions. so clearly these proves the we arent the best right now. you could say that we WERE the best in Asia, but you cant say the we ARE the best in asia right now.
anyways, despite or arguments, i still believe in our RP Nt and with china sending their team B our chances of being champs this year may be a lot more possible.
dont get me wrong, but i just respect opposing NTs so much that you cant just disregard how much they could match well against our RP team. thinking that we could just beat them all is just an act of ignorance.

i agree.....all the countries have almost an equal chance of qualifying......lebanon being 2nd in the last asia chmp. after china has a slightly better chance than south korea,japan and iran and these countries even though i dont think we,re gonna get the lebanese-brazilian centers anymore cuz of the politics....it seems thats all wat lebanon is becoming these last few months 
abt qatar and philippines i dont know anything about them cuz i have never seen philippines play and qatar we did beat them in the 2005 semis but only god knows who their gonna naturalize for this tournament 
and if any team could naturalize as much as it wants it should become the best team in asia eventually or there would be smthng wrong !

Well we can say that lebanon and phillippines are both winning games.....Lebanon won against Venezuala and France in the WBC last year while philippines is winning on division 2 NCAA teams , i wonder who would win in a bball game , an NCAA division 2 team or France NT ? common philippines play some real warm up games not against division 3 and bryon russel(980 yrs old) teams

No wonder why you looked down the philippine team...
because of lack of informations... or shall i say misinformed??? hehehe
We played againt US NCAA Div II and Div I.
We played against USBL pro selection squad.
We beat the No. 2 (Lebanon)in asia last year twice in a row.
Was it an exhibition game? I think so... but how many times we have beaten Lebanon in international competion??? take a guess or u want to search the net??? hehehe...
I know how lebanon and the rest of the teams in asia play... the quality and the brand of basketball they have too... you should have watched how our NT slammed the WBC bound Lebanon last year when they played against our ragtag team which was assembled only 2-3 days before the game just to play the Lebs NT..... ohhhh men... fahdi khatib cried like a baby when his team was scrambling for defense against our guys especially in game 1.
in game 2 he cried again and walked out... hehehe... good thing the Lebs NT manager was there to call them back in and finish the game... what a loser...
And what about the american coach??? He said he's longing to coach here in the philippines... he likes the kind of game and the quakity of basketball and talens the players have here... ohhh.... he's more than willing to leave the Lebanon NT just to coach for a ball club in Philippines... what a shame... and this same coach did all the arrangements just to play with RP team... in fact no ball clubs were available that time... so we assemble only those who can play against Lebs just to help them prepare for the 2006 WBC in Japan... He knows where to go for training...
I f you were the coach, would you go against a weaker or infirior opponents for your teams training???? i dont think so....
This American coach erally knows basketball....
let's us see this coming Tehran Fiba Chamionship Cup this May 12-20, 2007 (if i am not mistaken...hehehe)

here is something you should understand. lets say a kindergarten logical question.hehehePhilippines beat Lebanon twice with a ragtag team, but Philippines didnt play in WBC.
Lebanon beat France and Venezuela with Full-players on their roster, but Lebanon was beaten by the Philippines twice by a ragtag team. So i can assume, with that kindergarten logic of mine, that Phils can beat France and Lebanon. who'll agree or disagree with me? hahaha..
now, what makes sense to you now, playing and beating a Div1 school whose players are NBA caliber or playing and beating a team whose boasting they're good, but you have beaten them twice by a not-so-prepared team. haha, now think.
better ask Khatib and Fahed how good Filipino players are. hahaha.. go on.. COMMON? hahahahahahaha.. come on!! haha
