do u think there's a chance we will lose a game in SEABA?

Despite of the losses of the RP squad in Iran... i dont think we will lost a game in SEABA... we are still the powerhouse in this part of asia... so nothing to worry though...

My Top 4 teams still remains the same... in FIBA ASIA in Japan the standings would be...

1. Philippines
2. China
3. Lebanon
4. Japan/Lebanon/Qatar

Coach Chot is using the Fiba Champions Cup in Tehran as a decoy... this is very clear when we lost 3 outings in a row... and last game with syria is a confirmation of what could be the "true" intentions of the RP squad in that tourney...

We were able to win against USBL pro team which is one of the professional league in the US and one of the best market for import prospects for club teams in asia, autralia and europe... so i don't think we played in iran to really win a game...

But tonight Philippines will bounce back against Bahrain... and from quarter finals to finals... all guns are blazing for PHIL NT...

Why bother to win all the games when you still enter in the quarter finals with 1 win... and that win will be against bahrain game...

so Philippines will be in the quarter finals... and you will see a different type RP team squad that is if coach chot and the rest of the team will come out and play real basketball against those teams...

Let's wait and see...

I guess your right. We have never been beaten by our neighbors in Southeast Asia. I would love to see them to try to beat an all pro team:) They only faced amateurs ithink b4.

Correct me if I am wrong

SEABA better be nothing to worry about, since all opponents there could hardly be considered basketball nations and would most likely all be ranked pretty much at the bottom of a world ranking.

Hi,

We're still fresh from that 2yr suspension, and if you're a smart ass, you wouldn't point your fingers to anyone, espcially to coach chot. I, myself is a basketball coach too, and its hard for me to be criticized by people who doesnt know anything about coaching.

Isn't your statement a little arrogant? Maybe you should also show a little more tolerance and accept, that there are people out there, that don't share your oppinion and views regarding the Philippine team.
You don't need to be a coach to be able to have your own oppinion upon the impressions you get from the team. Even someone who hasn't been coaching may know a lot about basketball right?
I have been playing for 20 years, currently coach a team in Germany and was fortunate enough to be able to watch live games in various different countries like Philippines, USA and Europe - so I do believe I have the right to make up my own mind, even if the result may not match yours or be too optimistic regarding the current situation of the Philippine team.

I have seen them only a fiew times on tv and they certainly belong to the group of Asian countries, that have improved over the past years. Hard to say where they will finish at the Asian champs, but my feeling is that some other nations might finish ahead of them.

What about South Korea? Is there a chance for our revenge against them?

The problem with the Philippine basketball aside from Politics in almost all sports is that we dont have a legitimate National Team. Since the inclusion of professional players, the team was formed months before the competition and even weeks just like in the preparation of the RPteam in the 1990 Asiad coach by jaworski. After the tournament, the team were disbanded and wait another 4 years to prepare for the next competition. In that case, the cohesiveness of the team was not developed not unlike china and korea, they were together for years. Thats the disadvantage of the Philippines. Talent? We have a lot of talent the problem is being together of the team for years and also familiarity with the FIBA rules. We dont have pool of players, they just select players. We were suspended by FIBA twice due to the bickerings of the basketball leaders. We were not able to send our best players in the FIBA qualifying tournaments because the Asian games is the only commitment of the PBA were our best players play. So this time the suspension was already lifted a few months back, hopefully the leadership of the SBP will bring back the lost glory in basketball. Let us support the RPteam win or lose. Sports is the only unifying factor for all of us.

I love the way filipinos brag. Yabang natin tol! (we are braggards brother!)

Yup, I do think also that South East asia is the weakest region of the continent in basketball, AS A GROUP. But don't look now as the Philippines is back and Business. And we really mean BUSINESS.

Good luck to our NT and good luck to all. Let's all join to show Asian Basketball Power on 8/8/8.

No man i didnt misunderstood you. You cant base the performance of our RP team just because were losing in a clubs tournament. RP team has yet to use some of its dreaded trapping defense, as well as their 3 guard combo offense. Those things are yet to be use since Chot and RP team is using this as a kick-off tournament. May I ask you, what are your reason when you said RP team is not doing well? Is it because were'nt winning games in this tournament?
Is loosing 3 straight games in fiba champions cup, still not a good sign that were not doing well? are you still in denial stage? loosing 34 points to syria doesnt bother you? is the competition in fiba champions cup stronger than the fiba asia? i know that im just new at this site and i been reading your comments in a lot of threads here. Your username suits you, cause i think your an evil person! your always bragging about you being a coach of basketball, is that gives you permission to think that your always right? respects other opinion because your opinion is as good as them! mayabang ka.

bla bla - either you tell people, or you should just keep it all to yourself. What's the point in playing this hide and seek here? Probably you're not even coaching as you said before.

bla bla bla to you back, you say you are a 6'9 guy who plays competitive ball, so why don't you mention your name and the club that you played on.

I said I played - that is past tense, meaning it was in the past right?

My top 4 teams will be 1, china 2, philippines 3, lebanon 4, south korea
Philippine national team have the best guards in asia in the likes of jay jay heltebrand and mark caguioa ( the fast and the furious tandem) both are extremely quick and athletic! they can breakdown defense by their 1 on 1 skills and quickness

For the love of God stop saying your team is number 1 In asia..your team didnt accomplish any thing at least for the last 10 years u been ranked as
10th..i dont care if u sent ur A team or ur x team even playing the asian club at ur home 2005 with what so called a team u got 8th place..so just spare me
u still live in the past and u still think that even korea is still a powerhouse
korea has droped since 2005 and i dont see them making any thing even this year plus
u east asian guys still play the same old fashion BBall run 'n' gun which is dead for a long time i dont know any other teams still play this way other than Phoenix suns!!! now its the time for the west asian teams Qatar jordan lebanon Iran...other than china in east asia with all respect i dont see any other competition..this is the TRUE FACT and u have to live with it..
just let me tell u some thing Jordan NT played against the second seeded club in greece 1Division and lost by 12 pts ...not losing by 35 pts from a syrian and trying to make fun of us by making it a decoy done by ur coach ..jeeeeeeeez

thank u wizard.....they,ve been talking abt their friendly game win over lebanon everyday for the last 8 or 9 months now :)
