On the wings, hope we can get tall wing defenders as well. I repeatedly say that the 3 is a key defensive position.

Imagine a 3 that is a bigger, taller, better version of Tamayo, well one can dream.

Tim Cone was on record when he said the NT should be comprised of players tall enough to compete internationally. Which means, 6'5 and above for wings, and 6'9 for the bigs.

If the program director adheres to this plan, which in all indications, he would, he is expected to sync up both Seniors and Youth teams for easier transition.

That is why Tim Cone was keen in getting Baltazar, he has post up, outside shooting, can pass, and is a team player.

balti's most important skills during the tab era were his ability to defend the wing & make open 3s, i wonder if he can still do both consistently

It's also time to have more combo guards than just plain pg,make everyone an analytical player, shoot when you have the ball, don't hesitate.I wanna see more Dwight size combo or plain hot shooting SG,a 6'5 athletic SG will be a good matchup in FIBA.

An upcoming league by the SBP is coming next year that will be sort of a tryout/talent identification for local based players. LA and Alfrancis on the move.

A combo guard measuring 188-193cm (6'2"-6'4") would give us some options as to lineup versatility. We could have a two-PG lineup without sacrificing size.

As for 6'5"+ wings, hope defense and shooting will be the emphasis (basically 3&D) because I feel that those are the most important aspects for non-star wings in FIBA, defense more so.

Isn't that the purpose of the NGBL in the first place? It is also LA and Long Hair that founded it.

Nope, new league coming up is different from NGBL. Not sure why but a player I talked to told me that the SBP cup is exclusive to born 2009 and up(U16), just not sure if there is another division for the the U18 Batang Gilas. Also this one is club base. NGBL I think is school based.

Good day Sir Wawa,

is it some sort of a Jr. PBA kind of format or a Jr. MPBL stuff?

or a combination of both?

I think SBP should merge those two alongside the yearly NBTC/Manila Live Games

indeed having the concept of those 3 entities would be a good avenue to those aspiring youngsters out there

who wants to be part of the Batang Gilas program.

FEU U16 featuring Prince Carino will compete in Japan B. League’s U16 Tournament, taking place from January 30 to February 3, 2025, in Tokyo

The tournament will feature six teams, including three from Japan, two from Korea, and the lone Philippine representative, FEU. The competition format places the teams in two brackets, with the top two from each group advancing to the Final Four, culminating in a championship showdown.

I think the propose SBP Under tournament should come up with an ideal schedule to cater both domestic and possible overseas teams considering kids are involve here.

here in PHI specifically public or government funded schools, the school calendar are now 100 percent(?) back to it's old setup meaning March to May are vacation time

but majority of the school calendar outside PHI, summer break starts on 2nd week of June up to the last week(?) of Aug.

so in order to have that common ground, the stakeholders should come up with a better timeline to avoid possible conflict of schedule on both parties

besides we all know that the objective and the intention of that propose under tournament is to discover talents that they could tap for future U16 and U18 teams.

Two years from now, Gilas will have Esomchi, Okebata, Gupilan,Teoc, Simple and Regala for our u16 team. I'm excited because these kids are good players and their height right now is between 6'0-6'5

FEU U16 - 111
Shizuka U16 - 68

They still have a game later at 4:30 PM.

Good thing Prince Carino is already a legit 6'7" at 15 years old. He also plays as a 4 because the team has an FSA who plays as a 5 and is only 14 years old. I wonder if he would be a local for us if he somehow stays for another 10 years. The guy is about 6'6" and looks like he could play as a SF instead of a C, plus he has good ball control. Dulin and Pasinos also look good.

I do hope that the impression "FSA are deterrent to the growth of potential homegrown talent and take away the opportunity on the spot that suppose to be for them".

are not anymore relevant nowadays because of "Basketball without borders" are the norms nowadays.

that should be the ideal mindset of those NCAA stakeholders but unfortunately fake patriotism envelopes them so they don't pay too much attention what's going on

about "Global Basketball" nowadays.

if those foreign born kids decided "Well, we are very much at home and accustomed here in the Philippines, so we decided to live here for good".

who we are to judge and discriminate them for as long as they productive and law abiding people in the end Philippine basketball will benefit unto it

moving forward.

AK34 and Favour Onoh are example of productive individuals.

that FEU kid and the likes of NUNS Colin Akowe, UST's Racine Kane and that tall UE kid sporting that no. 21 (I forgot the name).

"mga masisipag daw mag-aral and very much level headed and no derogatory remarks so far...

that's a perfect example esp. to those religious funded schools.

Not sure about that, I saw in the screen the list of players and he is listed as 200cm. I don't know if the measurement of height in Japan is same as Korea where they measure the height without shoes.

6'5 Mark Dulin has potential to be a very good wing in the future. Kid can still grow 6'6-6'7, has decent handles, and is very athletic. I wonder if he's still age-eligible for this year's Fiba U16 tournament.

Nope. Next year he will be for u18.
