and for a country that basketball is not popular, dutch 3x3 team won the gold over the host team france..

So Serbia once again underachieves as they got knockout by Australia in the quarterfinals. Serbia looked strong & scary in 2019 but hasn't really lived up to most people's expectation in the last 5 years or so.

no games 5x5 basketball.. later in the evening pa..

If sbp atleast investing on 3x3.. we have chance here to get a medal here.. we should take advantage that countries like China, USA, etc.. not taking this event seriously... We have lots of free agents in PBA can tap by sbp to be regular 3x3 players... Jackson Corpuz is on my mind.. he's currently free agent.. he's versatile player and very physical that 3x3 suits form...there are many 6'4 FA players can be tap in 3x3..

Are you a time traveler??

That really hurts for EJ Obiena, at the age of 28, this is the peak and prime as he can be. I hope though I am wrong, at the 2028 olympics he will be 32 by that time.

Hurts for our country too because he is a generational talent that can compete at this sport to the highest level.

But he's unlucky that there is one guy in his sport named Duplantis who dominating the sport.. GOAT of Pole Vaulting.. his skills is unmatched...

In an interview before the Olympics, he said that after his last jump in the Paris Olympics, he will be at peace not making pole vault his life priority anymore.

If he does retire from competing, hopefully he transfers his experience and know-how to the next generation.

Damn really? he is still 30 years old when the Asian Games 2026 starts, I think he can still easily snatch a gold in Asian level. As of now we really don't have a prospect for pole vault even just one, because like I said, EJ Obiena is a generational talent.

But I think he should still try to compete at 2028 olympics,

the silver medalist right now is Sam Kendricks who is 31 years old. I still think he can compete at the highest level at age 32. Although the Gold for pole vault is unachievable for them pole vaulters unless they are someone named Armand Duplantis.

And height is might in football too: https://x.com/LinesniRyanRems/status/1818023051403083826?t=_11h4y1gte4Y0fPzQwPdyg&s=19

That's the case especially in the goalkeeper, center-back, and striker positions. You need height to win headers, and for keepers, to claim crosses and corners.

Football's the 2nd sport I watch, but that's also the reality of the sport. Even Messi, who's 169cm (5'6") had speed when he was young, and he's strong for his size.

Football requires certain attributes that are hard to explain (the "touch" for example is something that a kid learns to start mastering really early). If it's about athleticism or physical aspects, the US has everything needed. If it's pool of players they have it, soccer has been a popular sport for American kids and their pipeline of immigrants is more than enough. Coaching and training, they can easily acquire. Pro league, they have it.

But the thing with football is since it is so popular...a lifestyle and a religion in a lot of countries...the players of those countries develop X factors. Much like how we're not supposed to be good at basketball but since it's a religion here, we've developed a very hard to replicate type of quality.

So unless football popularity reaches that type of popularity in the Philippines, it ain't happening.

I guess what he means when he says it's not going to be his top priority may mean he will take a break or that he won't train as much. Who knows, maybe he finds another gear when he does take a break and recalibrate.

He's been training since he was 4 and even left for a foreign country as a young teenager just to train. That takes a toll. Hopefully, a type of rest or some routine change might re-energize him.

I'm sure he will change his mind.. winning medal for the last time is surreal his final nail of his career... He can still competitive in 2028 at age of 32.. just stay healthy, no injuries and 100% condition...

He's unlucky that his prime years also the prime of the GOAT of Pole Vaulting.. it's like Karl Malone vs Jordan... Nevertheless, American pole vaulter will be older at 35 and I think he can beat for sure the Greek guy.. that 4 year gap is too long.. better that he will not train too much, because as of now, staying healthy is important, so that when 2028 comes, his condition is in top shape... And also he should not join some events weeks before Olympics.. he should take rest and be ready 100%....

No short-cuts bro, that all i want to convey.

Im pro-athlete, i want all athlete who represent the PHL have the same opportunities that Yulo, EJ, Women's Football NT, Heidilyn et al, all have. Also, if im the president of POC. i would ban all non-athletes in the Parade of Nation for the Filipino Delegates.

And also my son is a Fil-Am, so there. I dont discriminate.

Penchant for "short-cuts," story of our lives bro. I hear you.

At some point it becomes like a chicken or egg paradox...do we like to make short-cuts because we are poor and don't have enough resources, or are we poor because we always opt for the short-cut.

As much as Yulo is now being made as the face of the nation right now, hopefully it doesn't fly over the heads of Filipinos that his success was built on long-term sacrifices and hard work. His road to success should be emphasized and shown as much as possible. Everyone should be made aware of how long it took him to win that gold, how young he had to start.

The hate towards basketball is too much, even some celebrities such as Agot Isidro calls for stop funding basketball team... As if government funding the basketball program... Those narrow minded people should be literate that Gilas is private fund... I hope this Olympics will end then this issue will die from scratch... It doesn't make sense... Ako'y maiingit sa ibang bansa.. other countries don't have those toxicity towards each other.. just look at Syria, fans there both love basketball and football w/o any hatred towards each other... Even in countries such as Serbia, Greece, France, Spain, etc... they don't tell stop funding football or basketball and focus on sports that giving medals to their countries... This topic is non sense at all.. I tried to be ignore this issue but they keeping it big para siraan ng husto basketball... Kung sino man pasimuno nitong agenda then he should go to hell..

To think that these people claim that they are for freedom and are rights advocates but advocating the suppression of the sport that many Filipinos love which is also considered a right and freedom (of choice). Pretty ironic.

Another thing is, they can support the sport that they want, no one will stop them to support.. honestly, I also updating their journey such as Yulo, Obiena , Sarno, etc... I know they will be competitive and give us the reason to celebrate this upcoming Olympics... But they don't know the business side why those private entities still funding basketball.. with basketball is the most popular sport here, the viewership and money is there, thus, the sponsorship is there and funding... The ROI is there... Unlike other sports... If they want more sponsorship in those sports such as weightlifting or gymnastics, they should watch the games even w/o Filipino athletes.. this will bring more sponsors to support the sport they want...

In the end, we are basketball fans also support other sports, especially those who representing our country... We are not toxic fans who want to drag other sports... I also want other sports to succeed...

Ice Cube wants his Big 3 All Stars to play the 3x3 Gold Medalists

https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog...winner-to-face-big3s-best-team-for-dollar150k

Pardon my French, fck dis nigg3r. The Netherlands did a Mongolia and had players who have played on their regular national team playing in the FIBA 3X3 World Tour. BIG3 is a glorified tatluhan with all the pauses and gimmicks like how the PBA is a joke. The only thing missing there is ice tubig. FIBA 3X3 punishes teams who do iso-ball which the BIG3 does a lot with retired NBA players. They won't have time to get in their bag because 3X3 teams are used to a faster shot clock and smaller court making them way faster with their pnr reads and closeouts.
