Aside from SGA, Murray, Barrett, Brooks, Dort, the quality of the bench as well as their bigs is really wanting. It's like a mid-level NBA team with 2 stars, 1 starter and 2 specialist with the rest as role players and benchwarmers.

Canada v. US in this prep game is like a game between an NBA All-Star and a regular NBA team. Not bad for Canada but not good either.

P.S. Still hoping for any upset against the US in the Olympics.

Team canada is a mid level playoff team in the east at best, good enough to contend for silver-bronze (but might luck its way to the gold medal)

Exactly why I said Canada needed all their NBA players like Brandon Clarke and Mathurin who were left out. Sucks that Wiggins was not allowed.

Good thing, this is a tune up game folks, The main tournament is all that matters... USA last year also 5-0 in their tune up games but we all know what happened in the main tournament... But their line up is way way better than last year... Let's see later this month... Neither either way trying hard to win this tune up games

This is a tune up game folks... Neither trying to win too hard... Last year Canada also lose some tune up games against Germany and Spain but they won bronze...

Canada better build Vince Carter a statue, this generation of canadian basketball players were heavily influence by vinsanity

With that all star line up USA has, it might be Edwards and Durant is the most important players in this current roster... Curry will be abuse in FIBA setting especially on defense while LeBron is just there ala "1992 version of Bird and Magic".. A veteran mentorship... Embiid sucks this game.. he's not adjusted yet in FIBA rules...

A Rudy Gobert-type of big will make this Canadian team more of a challenge to the US. Rudy Gobert is a beast in FIBA/Olympic setting, especially on defense.

Zach edey could help this team but Memphis not allowed him yet...

If only Edey will develop that fast.
Speaking of defense, Embiid looks lost in FIBA rules

(friendlies lang i know i know)

Everyone questioned why Jrue Holiday is in the line up but his asset is one of the important pieces for team USA... They don't need too much all star rosters... But having a super role player in their team USA badly needs

He will fit better in FIBA setting than NBA setting... FIBA doesn't have 3 sec defensive violation.. that's why slow footed bigs are dominant in this setting... Even Kai Sotto in FIBA setting looked like serviceable in any teams in FIBA because of the rules...

Jrue is their best defender (backcourt/perimeter), he's also have decent shooting percentages

Steph is legendary and icon of basketball just like LeBron but he will struggle here in FIBA because of space, physicality of the game and he will be abused in defensive end... Jrue, KD, Edwards and Davis will be the top players in this current roster... LeBron is too old that he can't finish even some makeable baskets.. although we all know LeBron isn't trying too... So this tune up games is nothing but just to feel the game

I like the mentality of Edwards.. he might be the next torch bearer of USA basketball post 2024... Sorry for Tatum, Morant, Zion, etc... but Edwards is the dawg of all these 4 young stars...

Tito Robert's Favorite National Team ( Next to Guam)

Side Notes:
  • The 2 Yuki's both under 5'6" recently signed an Exhibit 10 NBA contracts. Tominaga also signed Exhibit 10 contract.
  • The front row players are probably the core players while Hawkinson (NP) and Baba at the back, are both starter-level players.
  • Akira Jacobs is about 6'8 and is only 20 y.o.
  • Coach Tom Hovasse, is 6'8. and coached Japan Women's NT to a Silver Medal finish in 2021 at Tokyo.
  • Outlook: Will exit the group stage: 0-3. Tough to beat the host: France, the current World Cup holder Germany, and piping hot Puerto Rico.

This team is beating Brazil. Also Yuki Kawamura is 5'8 btw.

I am more intrigued about the game between US and France. I am curious on the US gameplan against Wemby and Gobert.

They will just fishing for fouls to pull out either one of them... If they did.. France will have trouble...

I'll still pick Brazil. Japan had a good showing last year but this year will be very different since teams participating in the Olympics are the world's top.
