And unlike Americans.. Canadians have solid national team program.. they don't copy USA style of system in national team set up... Maybe in americup next year guys like SGA, Brooks, etc... will not play, I don't see them commit for 3 straight summers.. they might use rookies or sophomores from NBA plus some overseas players to familiarize Coach Fernandez system... Don't be surprised if Canada will be better than USA once KD and Bron retire after this Olympics.... Next in line american stars like Edwards and Tatum are not ready to take responsibility to replace KD and Bron as "captain America"....

uhm nope... SGA will not deliberately miss a 2nd free throw risking a three point basket from Spain and a loss in regulation.

It's not a tactic just a very bad gamble from Scariolo seeing SGA struggle from the line all game.

If they took the timeout after an SGA made free throw they inbound from sideline and have an opportunity to tie the game.

Just a bad coaching decision. It happens to great coaches sometimes.
 
canada is using 1 big and 4 perimeter guys, murray is having trouble as the 2nd ball handler besides SGA.. he needs ball in his hands to be effective..

if you're Jordi Fernandez it's logical to let SGA lead the first five then just sub in Murray when he gets tired. Murray is relegated to ball-watching Nembhard Barrett and SGA.

just let Murray lead the second unit that way there's not much decrease of quality on the floor when SGA and co are resting.

It's possible.. because there is 2.3 secs left, any player on live ball can't call time out in FIBA rules, if SGA misses then the game clock will run once any player who will get the rebound and it's hard to find a play with that scenario..

Well, Brooks is your typical small ball four.. typical grit and grind type of player... Chot would love to coach that team.. Chot loves small ball... Hahahhahahahhaha
 
This Germany team is the biggest threat of USA winning the gold medal... Maybe USA still have advantage in terms of talent but if you look at German team, they are very physical, yet very versatile and all of them can shoot threes... If Germany vs USA in the finals, Steve Kerr should use more minutes defensive guys such as White, Holiday, Bam and Davis alongside KD and Bron... If Germans caught hot in threes, USA will have trouble... I'm sure Germans didn't use all of their plays when they face USA in friendlies... So better watch out USA... One bad game of USA and excellent game especially their shooting of Germans then the latter have chance to upset USA team...
 
Germany exposing France, aside from Wemby this team has no upside, if not for hometown whistle they could've lost one of the first two games

This team sucks. Maybe France's time will come next Olympics in LA . Their 1st Rou​nders in this years NBA Draft will be NBA vets by that time, or maybe bums / busts.

I don't know why oddsmakers put Germany below in their top favorites, especially in Las Vegas odds.. they really disrespect Germany and putting them below Greece... Even ESPN and NBA analyst put them below top 5... Those "analyst" just know superstars to bail a team such as Wemby, Giannis, SGA or Jokic.. but this team is the most balanced, most versatile and most physical team of all USA's opponents... If I were betting in Las Vegas, picking Germany in huge odds is the best move..
 
Franz Wagner putting France to sleep with monster slam with 3 French defenders.

France is lacking a dynamic guard ala Dennis Shroeder or even like Lorenzo Brown.. Heck, they probably be better if you put Kawamura manning the point for this French team.

Most of the nba players they have now are declining, Gobert do not have a reliable offense, while their euroleague players are average, though France had a good run in the past 5 years, both 2nd place in euros and olympics, if there's one program that truly improved it's Germany from being mid to third placer in euro and wc champs

But NBA and ESPN analyst sees them big threat... Showing lack of knowledge in FIBA ball of American media... They thinking having Wemby is already huge asset, whereas this is a team sport.. they are not putting Germany as a threat...

This current roster of Germany are having similar vibes of famous 2004 Argentina team.. both teams are very physical but very versatile and very dynamic team.. if we want a solid finals showdown, USA vs Germany is the best match up for us basketball fans all over the world... Serbia is too unathletic and too passive... They can't match up USA athleticism while Canada is too small for USA, they don't have size... I hope Germany vs USA match will happen...
 
Franz Wagner is what we like our mid-sized players (Carl, KQ and Amos) to be. High IQ, no wasted movement, efficient and reliable
