That's a different topic. Like what I said about the trans swimmer who was clearly formerly a man...it's despicable. No disagreement there.

But just like how Wemby is such a genetic anomaly that it seems impossible that such a basketball player exists...it's not impossible that one day a truly 100% female can come along and be that much stronger than anyone else. What rule will we use for that?

This is where "respecting the probability of death" works. Again in the case of the Italian boxer, let's say the Algerian is truly a man and that the rules failed her, then what saved her was her instincts. She felt those initial blows and immediately knew survival was at stake.

very well said, with the absence of a clear rule, common sense prevails.

NB: i just hate how socmed and media (both liberal and conservative) made the issue a political narrative with both side gaslighting the general public

No disagreements actually with you regarding an athlete that is a freak of nature. They are, well, freaks of nature like Wemby in men's basketball or Imane in women's boxing.

What I am trying to say is the danger of allowing someone clearly from a different gender (biologically) into a female division. If a female Imane has that man's strength, what if it is a former man that the Italian faced? Being a former male in the women's division of the Olympics is no "freak of nature" so to speak. That should be playing in the men's division.

Of course I'm against males in female boxing. I just said having a male in female swimming is despicable, what more in a fighting sport.

My point is, in a fighting sport...knowing and accepting that death is a probability is of utmost importance. Fighters should never be lulled into thinking that rules, officials or whoever is always there ready to protect them. Knowing that you are alone in the ring and no one else is out to save you is what will actually save you.

if they win they will qualified to qf outright as they will have a 2-1 record, top 2 teams of each group automatically qualify while 2 best 3rd placers via quotient will get the remaining two qf slots

as of today these 4 teams were in the quarterfinals

USA
Germany
France
Canada

It's depending on the quotient right now... I guess Spain is possible to make it even they are 3rd in Group A because their PD is ok, not too low and I don't think Canada will beat Spain by large margin.. Canada can beat Spain but I think just like their last year's match, it will be another close game... So the last spot will be either Brazil/Japan and SSD... Unless SSD upsets Serbia... But I hope SSD advance to the QF... I want to see them more in this competition...

Since we both agree in principles as to (1) freak athletes; (2) transgen issue; and (3) assumption of risk, I'll stop right there.

True that. Politicians and those with an agenda are on cue using this issue for their benefit. People need to think critically to not get easily manipulated.

Really? IOC is dragging IBA's name down? IBA may have done something wrong in their procedure but this should be an internal matter between two big orgs.

Besides, the "gender-based-on-passport" policy of the IOC is flawed.

Like of most many countries, USA not prioritize 3x3 events.. there is no money in that event

oh they do.. they prioritise the 3x3.. runner up last year with serbia 3x3 world cup. 3x3 team miami won some challengers and Masters tournament with the same core US team has right now., it’s unfortunate that the number 1 ranked player in the world got injured with a groin injury (fredette)

USA womens won the world cup last year against france..

USA is still winless in 3x3 in both Mens's And Women's.

Men fall to 0-2 after they lost to Serbia and Poland.

Women; worse at 0-3 , as they lost to Germany, to the Aussies and gasp, to Azerbaijan! USA women are the defending champions, when they sent Kelsey Plum back in 2021, but she now plays in the traditional 5 a side.

USA mens lost to latvia via a comeback from defending olympic champs 19-21.. unfortunate that fredette got injured

meanwhile the womens side they won their first match vs Spain..

HAHA. Scouts paid more attention to teams who are playing in the actual Olympics.

Not saying that Yuki is better than our local guards but he performed at a bigger stage against arguably better competition.

Wonder why some people always put down fellow asian players who get signed or even try out in the Gleague / summer league when it's already big news here when locals scrimmages or takes a selfie with an NBA players.

They're basketball program is doing good. I hope we can emulate what they're doing right.

yuki got signed prior to olympics.. so it means nba scouts are also watching b.league. as the saying goes “scouts are everywhere, if you’re good they’ll find you”

Btw, the other boxer who had questionable testosterone levels (lin yu ting) is in the same weight class as neshty

There's an interesting story about a German now officially named Heinrich Ratjen. She competed as a woman in the 1936 Olympics (the height of Hitler's reign) under the name Dora Ratjen. She eventually broke the world record in high jump.

Years later, he was deemed as a male, and he agreed to give up his medal/victory. Suspicions arose because of his appearance and his avoidance of showering with other athletes. But up to this day, there is much confusion about him/her who is most likely born intersexual. There's also a version of the story that states the Nazis made him compete as a her so that he can replace a German Jew on their track team.

This issue is nothing new and has happened many times before.

only difference is we have social media now which made things worse, a lot of hatred, fake news, gaslighting and mudslinging happening now.

For me, my stance against transgens to participate in women's division is not political. Rather, because such occurence will really ruin the essence of men's and women's competition. This is defying logic and science.

same position, plus the safety of the athletes. To be fair with Imane, she doesn't deserve all the hate she's getting. She's just became a unwilling pawn between warring ideologies.

There is a distinction between cases like that of Nancy Navalta and the Algerian boxer which seems to be a case of biological anomalies that started since birth.

It is not the same as the case of Lia Thomas the American swimmer who was clearly born biologically as a male, competed as a male and then switched over to the women's side later in life. Allowing those type of cases will be the end of women's sports.

If only chooks and sbp settled their differences we could have a fighting chance to qualify in olynpic 3x3

Yes, Imane getting the brunt of it is unfortunate. The polarized issue needed a face and the way the bout transpired...a very masculine looking female effortlessly beating a female who then cried...is very visually perfect.

In the Tokyo olympics, a man named Laurel Hubbard that used to compete as a man, competed as a female weightlifter. That should have been the moment for this type of pushback...but since he lost and the sport is solitary (no head-to-head visualization) people did not pay as much attention.
