I like Robert better when he was dick-riding Guam, not so when he accuses everybody in this forum to be Japan's bitches.

Just take the L man, It's gonna be alright.

what we hate is the overhyping as if it produced something that no other modern day asian team has achieved, and i really acknowledged how good the sports program of Japan in general as they are raking gold medals in other sports, which is something expected for one of the richest countries in the world, now with the basketball program i'd rather have our own identity and continue the progress of the current national team, by aiming to beat non asian teams and not just being satisfied with moral victories, with the new SBP leadership i am seeing the efforts of everyone involve especially now that they are trying to improve the grassroots and youth level, before we are always at the mercy of Chot hijacking the program and i hope this will be another thing that will be change by the current leadership, to be honest Chot is just acting like a dormant volcano waiting to erupt and be involve again with the national team, and for Japan good for them in improving their basketball program from being a mid tier team to a top five team but let's be real in Asia it's only China is at par with them when it comes to resources but still Japan is not that far ahead from other asian teams contrary to what others are trying to paint here

Unless we play France anytime soon and perform better than Japan did, there is no way you can substantiate the word "overhyping". Hypothetical scenarios and what-ifs cannot prove we "overhyped" Japan. Nobody in IBN expected them to go toe-to-toe with France and Germany. The haters all gave fearless forecasts of Japan being blown out. So if anything, you guys overhyped their weakness. And proven wrong.

Iran is also a rich country who are genetically superior than the Japanese, where are they now? Korea is also rich and so is Taiwan. China is a no-brainer. None of them are close to the success Japan currently has. Give credit where credit is due. Money is not everything.

Our program SUCKS. We have no grassroots program. Josh Reyes is still there. We have an import height limit.

WE SUCK when compared to Japan. Huwag kang in denial at bulag bulagan dahil sa "Pinoy Pride".

No the Latvia game was not a fluke. But JF is about to retire. Who will replace a 7 time MVP in the NT? The guys who beat Latvia are not even that young.

Well, ironically, we had a very long conversation with him about the Japan and Guam game since I sided with Japan that game.

Yes, zero chance since Brazil's capability has being underestimated here. One thing that I learned about the Brazilians is that they are they doing their assignments very well - beat teams that they are supposed to win (Asian teams) and drop the game when needed (Cameroon).

Had Japan won their game France, I will tell you that my stance will surely change. France is a world team so winning against them will be huge.

Just make no mistake about it - I don't hate Japan as a team but the hype surrounding it. Gilas has been doing this for a very long time but we are not going gagas for that.

this is my question that they cannot answer, with how successful the japanese program they are trying to paint, why there still no knockout stage qualification in tournaments outside of Asia, zero wins in 2020 olympics wherein they were the host, no podium finish in Fiba Asia, hasnt beat any of the top 10 teams in the world, has zero away win against non asian teams, if they will be able to do any of it then i can say that we should emulate them

Good, I applaud you for that then.

I agree, Brazil has a very good advantage because of their defense and athleticism. But I still cannot say that Japan has zero chances of winning.

He's a guy who doesn't know how to take a L. There's always a nobela of explanation where he still ends up right and everyone else is wrong.

Lost in this Japan Game is Eumir Marcial's tough loss against the boxer from Uzbekistan. Like what i said, Marcial is not a natural Light-Heavyweight. He's a better fighter at Middleweight. (But no, Robert shut me down again ..saying it doesnt matter..LOL). He had to fight at that class because Middle Weight was scrapped.

Well, that's why they have weight classes in most combat sports,. pounds or kilos really matter.

If Brazil loses to Japan, props to Japan. I am not stubborn naman.

We had very long discussion with Dave here regarding the rationale of Hagop Rule but I ended siding with him.

Please quote all the people "underestimating Brazil" because I know Brazil is a terrible matchup for Japan and Japan will likely lose in a bad way.

Who is hyping Japan? Praising how their program is being run is different from hyping. Again, please quote the people who are "hyping" Japan in IBN. Based on your definition of hyping.

Fun fact. Japan beat Brazil for the first time ever (fact check me please) in Men's Volleyball Nations League last year. 3-2. So anything is possible.

i thought that the college players and younger players were better suited in fiba play than the guys like Junemar or whoever in our current national team, now it turned out that no one can still replace Junemar, what did Japan do that other Asian teams has not achieved yet? Isn't you guys gave a fearless forecast that Gilas will get blownout in OQT? and yet they managed to win a game and not just win but dominate the host team, and how sure are you the Japan can sustain whatever they have and i can also say the same thing about Gilas and even now i still have my worries as the Reyeses are still lurking around and Josh is still the youth coach? Iran, China and South Korea are in rebuilding phase, and isa pa i am not turning a blind eye about how bad was the situation of Philippine basketball, i even admitted in an old post that we did not took the opportunities that we had during our hosting of the world cup due to politics and drama

Your post is one of those . You guys act rabidly against someone with dissenting view about the matter.

If I quote it all, my post will be unnecessarily long.

Both Japan and Brazil are top teams in three team sports in their respective regions (basketball, volleyball and football).

Another thing that got somewhat lost in this Japan game is, "USA ginulat ng Serbia sa 3x3"

Jimmer and his buds lost to World No.1 Serbia 22-14

Uzbek won by ring generalship as both boxers do not land anything meaningful, most of the punches of the Uzbekiztan boxer landed on Eumir's guard but his control of distance, pace and with some solid jabs were enough to get the decision, kumbaga must aesthetically pleasing un boxing nung uzbek

You are comparing the achievements of a country addicted to basketball, where the Number1 sport was always basketball, to a country where basketball is at best, Top 3 or Top 4 behind Football, Baseball and Volleyball. Heck maybe even Sumo.

For the sake of argument, what has 5 decades of basketball obssession given us? In 34 years, 1 Asian Games Gold and 1 Asian Games Silver. In 39 years, 1 Gold and 2 Silvers in the Asian Cup. What has Japan acccomplished in a span of 5-7 years despite basketball not being their Number 1 sport? From practically nobodies in Asian basketball to the Paris Olympics and wins in the EASL.

Who between the two is moving in the right direction? Who should be emulated? You want to emulate and support a league that has an import height limit? LOL

Asking for proof is being rabid? Doesn't have to be long. Just quote 2 to 3 posts, so we will know how you define the word hyping.

At least we know your definition of rabid.

that's why i am saying let's wait for the Japan-Brazil game as it will be the better gauge for now as Brazil will be the common opponent between Gilas and Japan, if Japan wins or lose with less than 11 points then i will admit that they are significantly better than us because we never know when we will face them in a real game with both having full lineups as it will be the best gauge which country is better

The more you act like that, the more you look like rabid. Sorry.

I and Metta had a very long conversation but we never act agressively with each other.

While Germany won against USA in the Women's Side 17-13. This, after USA raced to 5-0 lead.

The U.S. team was supposed to feature Cameron Brink, the No. 2 pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, until she tore her ACL last month. Replacement Dearica Hanby hadn’t played 3x3 before, let alone built a rapport with Van Lith, Burdock and fellow American player Rhyne Howard.
