And for sure Brazil's mission is to beat Japan... They knew their assignment... Just Collet put Japan a strong team because of his poor coaching..

still no credits on japan’s progress on basketball program? theirs a reason they qualified here in olympics.. give credit where credit is due.. too many times japan proved you wrong..

*did you watch how Theis, Wagner bros and Voigtmann bullies their defenders inside?
*And because of the shooting ability of these three bigs, they can pull out Wemby and Gobert from the paint to spread the floor
*if France guards are having a hard time defending Kawamura, how much more with a PG of Schroder's caliber?
*Schroder will make the twin towers look like a fool

Okay, fair points but France is still one of the better teams in the tournament from top to bottom. They're evenly matched with Germany on paper. It will boil down to focus and execution. It's a toss up between them for that 1st spot in their bracket. Both are quality teams and we can't gauge how they will fare against each other based off their performance vs weaker teams like Japan and Brazil.

Brazil and Japan will play for consolation while Germany and France will play for better placing in the QFs.

Still no results in any Asian competitions... If we have opportunities same as Japan, we can do it too.. I know even Lebanese supporters also thinking the same.. Gilas won Asian games gold medal, while Lebanon is 2nd last FIBA Asia cup almost beat Australia by just 2 pt deficit.. Japan meanwhile with their core (minus Rui) lose to Australia team B by 20 pts... What the real definition of best Asian team is to win either Asian games or FIBA Asia cup (FIBA Asia cup is higher than Asian games in terms of recognition by the way)... Japan is also playing on their opponents level.. Remember That Japan team lose to old ass Iran led by lolo Haddadi...

I'm sure you didn't watch Germany's game... You don't know their capabilities... Just watch on Friday how Germany will demolish overhyped France... They have no problems beating Japan by the way... Hahahhahahahhaha, unlike France that they need that home cooking just to beat Japan..

- In FIBA it's all about preparation, roster construction, system, luck and timing. just because PH beat Latvia, and Latvia beat France last World Cup doesn't mean PH can beat France with Wemby and their NBA guys. Also remember, PH beat Latvia without Zagars and Porzingis.

- No Japan did not beat France, but they were close to beating France full force in their home floor in regulation.

- Lebanon lost by 6 points to a France Team B without Wemby, and with France knowing they're already qualified to the Olympics as hosts.

- Coach Collet may have been underprepared vs Japan, but it doesn't necessarily mean Tim Cone can out coach him. We will see if they face each other.

- Luca Banchi was named FIBA World Cup coach of the year because that Latvian team overachieved. That doesn't mean Tim Cone is better than him based on one game.

- Despite France not having a perfect game under Collet, they are still in contention for the top spot in their bracket with an unblemished record.

Next time please construct a logical argument. sir. it's all over the place, no offense.

You are entitled to your opinion about Germany and France. It's must-see TV. But give Japan credit for almost beating a powerhouse Euro team.

And please try to contribute to this forum with intelligent analysis and well-founded arguments. Thank you sir. :)

Stop living in the past lol. Our success in previous Asian tournaments and Japan's lack of podium finish is irrelevant to this year's FIBA sanctioned international basketball competitions.

- Gilas won Asian Games without Lebanon participation. They also won vs China without Zhou Qi and Anderson while we have 2 Naturalized players.
- We all know FIBA Asia Cup is more prestigious than the Asian Games, no need to educate the readers here.
- Japan still won 3 games in the World Cup last year and reinforced that same team making them the best Asian team to date under FIBA sanctioned tournaments. Gilas may have been stronger on paper but they did not take care of business.
- CURRENT Japan team almost beat a France team with reigning NBA ROY and DPOY.

Let's just all agree that Gilas could be better than Japan in the future. But please sir, stay in the present and enjoy the games.

Small guards are hit or miss these days. It's either you're getting a useless Scotty Ewing or a streaky Yago Santos.

Kawamura, Castro, Alapag are the exceptions.

But imagine if Japan had a big rolling for the alley-oop or cleaning up their bricks like Kai to pair up with Kawamura. All their bigs are flat footed. They have the budget to look for one.
 
a loss is a loss, but god damn that's a tough one for Japan. Chalk it under "dubious".

Nah.. Collet's poor coaching look Japan very good.. this was like 2022 seagames debacle loss of Gilas vs Indonesia.. did everyone here give Indonesia credit? None... All of us pointing the poor coaching of Chot Reyes... Just wait on Japan vs Brazil game and we will finally see if Japan beats Brazil... If Japan lose the same way Gilas lose to Brazil then why I will give credit to them, whereas we can do what Japan can do.. right?

I’m talking about the PROGRAM as a WHOLE.. you never EVER give them credits on their PROGRESS on basketball

you clearly HATE their progress that you RESENT to THIS type of COMMENTS..

if by your logic, we won against latvia means we have good basketball program?

do we even have a program?

your comments is proof that why we have no program in all team sports because of expectations of WIN, WIN and WIN.. results based..

You said already it's all about preparation and luck.. Gilas did their thing.. and they should give credit to that... You said give you some proof about my statement about chances of Gilas against France, and I replied and I said yes.. I'm not sure if we can beat France but I'm 100% sure we can also toe to toe with France.. it's like you too much dickriding Japan and no trusting the abilities of other Asian teams including Gilas... And by the way, France parade their team A last year minus Wemby... So again, you again wrong here... Gobert, Fournier, de Colo and Batum played in that game.. Arakji also killing those inconsistent french guards.... If Japan did a close game vs France, you said Japan improve much, while if Lebanon or Gilas did a close game vs France then you pointing France didn't take game seriously... San hustisya bro? Japan lang ba kaya gumawa nian while other Asian teams can't? Wag ganun...

No hate for Japan but you are too bias towards them.. if Japan doing good, sinasamba Nyo na and just dickriding their ass while of other Asian teams like Gilas did the same thing then still doubting their performance and just reacting they just got lucky... And I'm sorry, I will not root towards other Asian team who are our opponents.. I will just always stick with Gilas.. if Japan can do those things then why not us? Are you still doubting Gilas? With Tim cone? If they are the best Asian team then prove it next year...

Japan just beat weak teams in each continent Venezuela and Cape Verde.. don't act Japan beat powerhouse teams.. Gilas can beat those 2 teams with ease too.. don't overhyped too much Japan.. just prove it next year if they are the best.. the real definition of the best in Asia is to win the FIBA Asia cup..
