So Rui is going to play but he hasn't joined the tune-ups with Yuta.

With merely weeks to go before the Olympics, Yuta and Rui still havent seen some floor time in tune-ups. At least Yuta joins the team in practices, but not in actual games,

I believe Yuta is injured, he just wants to play in the Olympics, I don’t know what’s going on with Rui though

Rui became a diva for Japanese basketball... It might he will disrupt more than helping Japan team... He hasn't played for Japan since 2021 and there are some new teammates that Rui didn't played yet... This is somehow disadvantage of having NBA players in your pool...

As long USA will be defeated here, I'm OK with that.. sorry, I will support underdogs here... Better for sport of basketball if USA will lose, so that basketball will be more popular...

Rui made a ( probably sponsored ) appearance in the Japan v Korea Friendly, shooting warm up shots much to the delight of the Japanese fans. but he didn't join the rest of the team in the bench.

He said he's playing in Paris.

“I’m happy to be back after three years,” Hachimura said. “It’s an honor to return to the Olympic stage. I want to give it everything I have. I did not have good results at the Tokyo Olympics, so I want to show how much I have grown at the next Olympics.”

10 days prep right?:)

Japan has a really solid bigman rotation for the Asian levels: Hawkinson, Kawamata, Jacobs, Watanabe and Rui. Don't know how it would hold up at the world levels with the chemistry and availability of Rui but it's still very solid even with just Watanabe who is B league bound.

No matter what our resident Middle East Tito thinks. Japan NT is really stacked by Asian standards. They have proven versatile scorers in Baba (reached GLeague), Hiejima (reached NBL), Tominaga (reached NCAA Tournament) plus the 2 Yutas ( both BLeague MVPs).

Up to HC Hovasse (Silver Medalist coach in the last Olympics for Japan Women NT) to make them click

That dude needs to hit the gym, go outside and touch grass, it's literally a fucking sport, there's no shame in acknowledging how strong others are getting. If you see a dude in the gym working out and developing muscles, you don't act like a labandera and marites him, you're just glad for the dude and then go back to focusing on your own progress. There are too many cringe pinoy bball fans who's using it as a platform for their maritesing, they should get a life and work on themselves

I'm rooting for France to win it all. As star-studded as the US team is, scoring against a Wemby-Gobert frontline is daunting to say the least. Plus, the French are the hosts here. This is their time now.

Updated Pool

Group B

Group C

Puerto Rico*

* - OQT Winner

12 teams were divided into three groups of four teams each, with a single round-robin format within each group.

The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.

Following the preliminary round, teams will be grouped based on their results, and a draw will pair teams from different groups for the quarterfinals.

For the draw, teams will be seeded into four pots: Pot D for the top two-ranked teams, Pot E for 3rd–4th ranked teams, Pot F for 5th–6th ranked teams, and Pot G for 7th–8th ranked teams. Teams from Pot D will face teams from Pot G, while teams from Pot E will meet teams from Pot F.

Teams from the same group cannot face each other again. Additionally, if both teams from Pot D advance to the semifinals, they will not compete against each other.

The whole world is against USA… they were enough of being arrogant of Americans in basketball world.. and a US loss is a win for international basketball… any country will inspire to be good at basketball because they think they have a chance now…

Let’s see if Japan can snatch atleast a win there.. if not, It’s not sure if Japan is the best in Asia.. they just lucky beating Finland and have a easy group in classifications…

Every game has an element of luck involved.

But them having multiple prospects developing into solid D1, NBA, NBL, players etc is not luck. That right there illustrates the quality of their development program.

Attributing their rise in quality to luck is bullocks.

Fearful Prediction
:

Group A is obviously the Group of Death. Canada and red-hot Greece will advance outright

Group B is a given, USA and Serbia will advance. Sorry Brazil. Note: This could have been the PHL's group. WOW!

Group C is also sure-ball. France and <WORLD CHAMPION> Germany will be the group winners.

Best 3rd Place Team: Quotient System favor the strong teams as they wont get easily blown out, so, its going to be Spain and the other Puerto Rico for me.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

QF Draws:

Pot D: USA and France

Pot E: Canada and Serbia

Pot F: Greece and Germany

Pot G : Spain and Puerto Rico

------------------------------------------------

Quarterfinals:

Pot D vs Pot G:
USA def Puerto Rico
France def Spain

Pot E vs Pot F:
Canada def Germany
Serbia def Greece

--------------------------------------------------

Semifinals:

USA def Serbia
France def Canada

---------------------------------------------------

Bronze Medal Game:

Canada def Serbia (on a late SGA free-throws as Jokic fouls out)

---------------------------------------------------

Gold Medal Game:

France def USA in OT

Nando de Colo somehow jumps over Embiid for a super-slam ala Vince Carter, avenging Frederick Weis, then Wemby blocked Curry's 3 point attempt , and blocks Lebron's follow up, preserving France 1 point lead , for the Gold Medal win.

Viva la France!
