He will just pick players who already played w/ him already... He will not pick players who are unfamiliar w/ his system...

well it makes sense since they only have a few days to practice.so its practical to just get the players who knows the system already.

He should start picking players with skills that would at par in a FIBA stage,even as a practice players,they will soak up the system little by little until up to the time they have to come up and play on the team.

This is the price we have to pay for having a pro league whose calendar isn't synchronize with that of FIBA (while almost all the other pro leagues all over the world have calendars well synchronized with that of FIBA.
These would be a lingering problem that is going to hunt Phi basketball for as long as the PBA refuses to change its calendar to synchronize with the FIBA calendar. At yan talaga ang isa sa mga malaking problema ng Phi basketball.
PBA lang yata yung professional basketball league that runs during the months of July, August & September.

See, this is where having a full-time coach and a bigger pool would have been helpful. It's as if the SBP only looked at the window dates and tournament days while disregarding the possibility of being invited to these friendlies... which favor National Teams who can organize better. You're not organizing anything last-minute if your coach has pro club commitments and your best international players aren't playing in your own local league.
This I say, those countries whose professional leagues are on their off season during the months of June, July, August, will always have the benefit of their respective national teams playing in these friendly or tune up games. The thing is, I think around 95% of the pro leagues over the World are on their off season during these months. PBA lang ang hindi off season which makes the PBA unique - ridiculously unique I should say.

Yeah... CTC is not a guy that has patience to teach his system to the younger players in a long run... He didn't give some significant minutes for the rookies in his Ginebra stint, except Scottie.. Others already benched

This I say, those countries whose professional leagues are on their off season during the months of June, July, August, will always have the benefit of their respective national teams playing in these friendly or tune up games. The thing is, I think around 95% of the pro leagues over the World are on their off season during these months. PBA lang ang hindi off season which makes the PBA unique - ridiculously unique I should say.
I've said this before, June to August are western summer months. We don't have winter so the PBA has the prerogative to schedule the games however they want because they're also competing with the UAAP and the NCAA for venues.... the only problem is you look at a country like Australia with entirely different seasons but still chose to adapt to the western hemisphere knowing all their athletes aim to compete in Olympics and World Championships. Did the Aussie NBL have dumb shit like a special draft or shortening their seasons entirely para sa bayan? No. They play 26 weeks from September to March and during off seasons, some players sign short-term deals elsewhere like the G.League or even Europe... for the last 45 years. The PBA has been doing it longer but has been doing it wrong for the last 17 years at least.

China,Japan and Korea have similar seasons like Euros and America,Japan and Korea pretty much mirror the USA seasonal sports,like baseball and in case of Japan they also have American football season.Philippines should be more flexible where the season is much more predictable having only have 2.

USA is all mighty when it comes to basketball. In America, basketball is a winter sport. That means since you play it indoors, unlike football and baseball, you can schedule the season in the winter months. (School sports) in the USA has everything to do with seasons.
The rest of the world followed even if they didn't have the same seasons.
Basketball is a long season in America,it starts when baseball is ending and ends when baseball spring training starts.There's alot of indoor sports basketball is competing with,like ice hockey and even indoor track and field.

COntrary to popular belief, even in eala's time they did wrong, they pullout the players in pba since fiba asia begins at July 28 the pna cpnference ended July 18..and we all knew what happened in fiba asia,..Its really knowing your fiba calendar as people git used to pba being all year round..

But I think the main reason for most Asian countries (as well as countries in Europe, Americas & Africa) scheduling their pro leagues' off season during the months of June, July, August & September is so that such scheduling would synchronize with that of FIBA. In this way, their respective national teams would be available during the June to September period where most FIBA & other international tourneys are held.
Even the Latin American countries which have tropical climate same as the Philippines schedule their pro leagues' off season during the June to September period.
I remember in the mid-2000's the PBA under Commissioner Noli Eala modified its calendar in that the PBA off season was set from July to mid-September. I remember, we were able to send PBA-select national teams in tournaments like the Jones Cup, Brunei Cup, the Las Vegas Summer League, etc., then we were able to tune-up with other foreign & national teams (I remember we tuned up with the Lebanese National team). It was possible simply becoz it was PBA off season during those period. Sadly, PBA reverted to its old calendar.

2007, its juat that back then bankrolling antional teams has these thing called unnecessary expenses..that even sport writers criticized the team, coach derrick pumaren critiqued that instead of goung fit asi taulava gained a lot of weight during the preps et. al..

Ah ok. That was when the FIBA ban on Phi basketball has just been lifted. That team actually was assembled as early as February 2007 & started its training by that time. You're right, our national team prospects were pulled out from their respective PBA teams as early as February to train & play in several training camps, tournaments & tune up games (US, Serbia, Taiwan, etc.). That team had about 6 months of training before the 2007 FIBA Asia Championship. That team was just unfortunate that it landed into the "group of death" & the tournament format back then was ridiculous.
I remember, that team beat a young Iran team bannered by Hamed Haddadi & Samad Nikkah Bahrami (& coached by Rajko Toroman) in the 2007 Jones Cup. But in the 2007 FIBA Asia Championship, Iran beat us which contributed to our downfall.

I view it as the exact opposite. I feel a longer preparation period would allow the coach to have a better training program in which the training will be paced better thereby preventing burnout among the players. In a shorter prep period, the coach will be compelled to squeeze the training program in that short period thus making it hectic & the players becoming prone to wear & tear. I remember coach Chot compelling Gilas team into a twice-a-day practice so as to squeeze the team's training program into a limited time frame. Coach Chot would not have done that if his team was given enough preparation time.

I think that is not the reason, The reason was they are not familiar w/ FIBA rules... They struggled how FIBA officiating back then... Most of those players are not fit also in FIBA style likes of Menk, Helterbrand, Ritualo, Dela Cruz
