They earned that spot, blame korea and china for being weak or bitchy instead of discrediting a weaker team for putting in the effort to compete here and improve

Just leave Bahrain alone.. they earned it, it is also good for Asian basketball long term… as I said before, Lebanon, Iran and Jordan suffered the same fate Bahrain today after their world debut before… they all experienced 40 to 50 pt blowouts, but that is the key for them to be competitive back in Asia later on… Bahrain will be the same once they comeback in November qualifiers… remember, they give Korea, China before a hard time even without world experience, how much right now they have world experience after this.. they will be the dark horse for 2025 fiba asia cup next year…

I havent seen Jokic be dominant in Fiba. He has a field day posting up against lighter defenders in the NBA. He has problems against stronger guys like Dwight and McGee before and recently KAT. The FIBA game has stronger bigs that can be thrown against Jokic. I think Jokic is a bit scared to be challenged in the Fiba stage.

Jokic made mincemeat out of KAT last year , though. It took this year for KAT, one of the softest bigs in the NBA up to this year's playoffs, to toughen up.

I think KAT's experience in the WC, being the guy of PR, helped him toughen up. However, I think KAT has some niggling injuries. He was totally neutralized by 6'7 PJ Washington.

I like that tim cone said what needs to be said: they are there to win a tournament, and not a game. Indeed, as in college how can you be summa or magna cum laude if you are dropping ugly courses?? You have to excel, however you can.

And with good career results, after my wife and i studied in europe, we found out later that our kids have stronger biodata than us. Just because they treated the pursuit, and achievement, of excellence as something natural.

Hindi alam ng mga bopols iyan sa row por sa tabi ng basurahan, na hanggang kwentutan lang. Hindi pba ang fiba games.

You would like to build a team on the chemistry of loyalties and favoritism like a mafia as father and son coaches seyer do, or "deep select" a team that will do your country proud? Pwede ba sinasabi ng tandang seyer na "bahala na kayo"? Then why have a coach at all?

Our nt has to do the hard genius thing on the floor. No one hated losing more than michael jordan, which he admits. At the end of it all, he has the billion dollars to prove excellence always work.

We hope many athletes will be inspired on Luka’s dedication to his national team.. Many athletes always declining to play for their national teams even they are healthy (cough Jokic)… actually for me, I’m more interested watching international basketball than club basketball, unless it is playing against other countries ball club…

The hate Dallas fans are cheering that he plays and hopefully he doesn't get no rest before the start of the season, those legs will be mushy and he will be irritable,Dallas will be easy pickings.Back to back long season,I just had feeling he's gonna be one of those players who have phantom injuries during regular season.

I really was worried then why tim cone didnt bring the friskier, international-ready abando and baltazar. Basura perimeter game ng pba players against bigs, as the pba stupidly, stupidly is blind to the reality that bigs in the perimeter are all there is in top20 world teams. This is why you need jordan clarkson and jalen green to handle 2 and 3 duties for big games.

Pinoy si qmb din. He has a pre-16 passport. Taga up ang lolo niya.. So, frontloading kai, abay, aj, kouame and qmb is world class frontline already within a year. Qmb, like aj, can also play as an athletic 6'10 3snuffer. Sana bawasan ng pba at sbp ang kabobohan nila paminsan minsan man lang. Aguilar must do a ten-20 minute explosive run as the rock of ages at the 3, against the likes of strautins and bertans, for posterity.

They called Abando, but it was a bit too late.

https://tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/rhenz-abando-misses-gilas-men-call-due-to-visa-issues/306313

Abando was called 5 days before the flight to Europe, so it would be a hard time fixing his visa.

Nigeria is like Philippines. So many good players but are either ineligible, chose to play for the USA or they simply cannot afford to pay.

South Sudan is there but Nigeria isn't. Heck even Giannis is Nigerian.

I love Luka, and I admire his dedication to his national team.. he’s the national hero for Slovenia.. but I think he should rest rather than trying to led Slovenia this year… and the talent of his teammates is way below top tier Euroleague level… if doncic not playing Slovenia, they are on level of England or Portugal… Luka needs rest…

Lack of foresight and Plan B as usual.

It's the lack of foresight that annoys me. We need a reserve pool for guards, wings, and tweeners/bigs, so that they're easier to call up when a player from the main 12 goes down.

Latvia has real good shooting big men, who performed spectacularly in front of their home crowd. Very strong perimeter defense from tamayo and aguilar, even at the sf position, is a must. This game will be the moment of truth for both: if they scr*w the perimeter 3point game of latvian bigs with lockdown defense, russian style, these bigs go down in flames.

The latvians are not exceptionally athletic though, so kai and abay can still seal the painted area. Kai can clearly outjump all the bigs of latvia, while abay cant be outmuscled too. Sayang wala si abando at baltazar para tumulong sa perimeter defense work.

Brownlee, ramos and newsome must be the fast-pacing killer guards against latvian guard killers. They have to outdo themselves, as if there is no tomorrow.

Latvia is an all-offense team with an excellent passing game. Only smothering lockdown defense will work against this team who are playing in their backyard. There are great character-building games, and our nt which is rid of hopeless coach seyer, can make this their never-say-die victory moment.

As for less than a day's rest, that is a meaningless and comical constraint for pro athletes. The body will fully recover with straight 6-8 hours sleep, and be injury-free after an hour of after-game cooling down flexibility/ stretching conditioning. Our nt is hardly a senior citizens' team.

We can't defend the 3 so Latvia is gonna have a field day.

This game will be a litmus test for our team defense.

If we defend well tomorrow (both against Latvia and Georgia), even without AJ and Scottie, two of our best defenders, full credit to the coaching staff and the players.

If we can't defend, personnel changes and inclusions should be in order.

Oh and it was only then that SBP & coach Tim Cone realized that hindi ganoon kadali kumuha ng Visa.

That's the importance of a reserve pool. Injuries happen, and we have to be ready with an immediate replacement.

Its like driving a car in a long distance trip without carrying a spare tire. So when a tire gets flat, nganga! Sasabihin nalang, "hindi ko naman kasi akalain na mapa flat tire tayo!!!

They have tall shooters, led by Bertrans. I don't expect JMF and Kai to go after these guys. It will be up to old man Japeth, Tamayo and KQ to challenge them. Well between JMF and Kai, Kai should be the one expected to guard the more mobile man. So Kai will probably need to guard the 3. Actually I worry about Latvia's defense too. Holding Georgia to 55 would have taken good defense.

We know the lack of a pool is politics. With a pool it would be harder to explain why guys like Tamayo and KQ were picked but not Balti. Or CJ and Scottie over Bollick.

NZ has 10 sports channels but not even 1 was chosen to air their game vs Croatia.

High-scoring affair for these 2 teams so far.
