if 6'8 Carl Tamayo can sustain and still improve in the BLeague, then we may have found our starting SF.

high hopes for Carl Tamayo. huge upgrade for RR Pogoy's slot.

He's got the skillset and feel for the game. It's more of refinement of movement nalang at this point. Sometimes he still moves like a typical undersized Filipino center. If he can get lower to the ground consistently in-game (pretty sure he's working on this in practice), and get that explosive first step, our SF deficiency is taken care of already.

Tab knew this. We didn't have tall wings and so he initiated the transformation of Balti, Will Navarro and Carl from big to wing. They're still not polished though, but they still have time.

I don't know if Asia is ready for Balti, Navarro, Koon, Balungay, Tamayo, Quiambao and Amos at the 2 or 3 spot. From now on, Gilas should be constructed in a way that it can trade blows with Japan's Rui and Yuta. We badly need multiple 6'6- 6'8 guys who can bring down the ball, shoot off the dribble and drive with force and counters with it.

my initial five picks :

Dream Team “The Avengers”

LeBron James as team captain
KD
Steph
The Process
Tatum

this makes the USA the odds on favorite to win the Gold, hope Jokic, Murray and Wiggins suit up for their respective countries to make the Olympics competitive. I hope also that Greece, Lithuania and Slovenia makes it out of the OQT

Baltazar, little chance. Bolick, I dunno, probably blacklisted. Cone has trained with Carl before, in the August window. As for RJ, I dunno.

Maybe they'll go with veterans. Hopefully, the roster won't be too old. Continuity going to 2025 and 2027 is important.

RSA was all praises for Gov Pineda in the Tunying interview. Balti has a chance it was just that Chot didnt included him in the list

This will be a very difficult tournament for our team, but nothing is bad in trying. We just need to prepare with a longer periond of time. Let us hope and pray we can get local exemptions for many of our players like Ange, Balunggay, Philips and especially Clarkson.

For Pre-Olympic qualifying tournament next year it’s proper that SBP should enlist Brownlee as NP. It will be a fitting send-off before he retire or before we find a replacement for him. I also wish the congress will grant a special recognition or a “Medal of Honour” for the whole Gilas squad and its coaching staff. And also wish that PBA will accord special status to Kouame to play as local in the league.

2025 Asia Cup seems more fitting but he'll be 37 then.

2024 OQT - Brownlee

2025 Asia Cup - Clarkson

by October 2026 Kouame will reach 10 year residency in our country and by then will be eligible for FIBA exemption to play as local in our NT. So if Ange doesn’t get any attractive offers overseas it’s only logical that PBA will give him a special privilege to play as local. By 2027 World Cup in Doha he don our country as local…

Barring any changes with FIBA rules, other players like Ballungay and M.Phillips has still 6-7 years to complete for 10 year residency rules even though they have heritage links to our country.

We’re going to latvia group

Group A
latvia
georgia
RP

Group B
Brazil
Cameron
Montenegro

We need a good roster and a competent coaching staff. The lineup needs to be able to compete, while at the same time it looks towards the future by including promising younger players.

Gilas cannot pass Latvia and Georgia. Even if they do, they to through Brazil and Montenegro which I don't think Gilas can beat.

With this in mind, what line-up should we field here? I mean our chances of qualifying in the Olympics is slimmer than we had in 2016 and 2021. I believe that this is slimmest that the Gilas will have in all three OQT participations.

If talking about firepower italy and dominican are much better teams than georgia and brazil..

Brazil is way bigger and physical stronger than the Dominicans. Did you watch how Brazil beat Iran with Haddadi? Brazil even beat Canada with SGA, Barrett, Dort, NAW and Brooks on that that team.

2 notable NBA Georgian players are Goga Bidatze and Sandro Mamukeshveli

DR will be better than Brazil if their All NBA players will suit up… KAT, Horford, Duarte and Quinones are very tough already… plus they have young sensation Jean Montero… DR beat Argentina already, who the latter beat Brazil in the finals of Americup in their home last year…

If Gilas have a good game plan vs Georgia then they might have a chance… Japan manage to beat much tougher Finland… we have to erase the mindset that we have no chance beating European teams… I think Georgia can be beaten if proper preparation and game plan… Jordan and Iran manage to hang on vs Georgia in first 3 quarters before folding in the 4th…
