Kristap Porzingis might not play for Latvia next month, Since doctors tell that he needs 6-8 weeks of healing process before to play again... That means he will be automatically out and I'm sure Boston will not allow him to join this summer... Luka Doncic might not play too since he needs some rest after grueling run for the Mavs this season... Lauri Markannen will not play for Finland this OQT.. Also questionable are Al Horford and KAT of DR... meanwhile Giannis will play for Greece...

This is why Luka is one of the most lovable persons in the NBA... Forget about his tantrums against refs... but he is one of a kind... Many think he might take rest, including American media outlets... He should be Imitate by all athletes... Love for the country first before anything else.... You can't see this in other ballers around the world (Cough Jokic!!!!)

Looks fit. It took him the whole NBA season up to the finals to get rid of the offseason fat :) just for the OQT. Priorities

Did you know that he always more often watching Euroleague games than NBA games... He's more happy playing overseas than in the NBA... He just treat NBA as professional jobs

I think that kind of offense worked because it was shot creators like Jimmy and Castro, this current team doesn’t have that kind of shot creation. Also I didn’t watch Japan vs Australia game but saw highlights, one of the differences is Japan has good spacing, they have guys who can shoot really stretching out Australia, also Australia I don’t think had any good rim protectors, but another difference is they had a Kawamura who can penetrate and score around the rim, same with baba. Early on I. The game as an example Oftana tried testing Deguarra’s rim protection and got his shot blocked, also another player tried(can’t remember who)and got blocked so this Mustang team had a stronger interior defense making it harder to penetrate and score especially since this team lacks ball handlers who could do that also the spacing on this team when Junmar and Kai were on at the same time wasn’t good.

Defensively it seems Japs is still better than Kai. Unfortunately both dont have a reliable perimeter shot. But guess what Mr 5 time MVP finally developing a midrange against higher comp 10 yrs after he showed promise in the WC. A bit late but still glad it’s coming along.

Classic Robert. “Mas magaling ka pa sa coach” bs.
Hahahaha. You’re really such a clown.

Anyway, good thing that Pogoy’s Latvian VISA can’t be secured on time. Wew! He could have caused disaster for us down there, shooting us in the foot. Time for Perez to miraculously improve on defense and on taking care of the basketball. Making those open threes won’t hurt either. We’re in deep trouble if both Newsome and CJ are shooting duds and mishandling as ball carriers.

Because you are also bunch of clown too... You don't know what CTC likes... You just bandwagoning here alongside others.. You hate Pogoy because you don't like him... Plain and simple... Dami mo pa alibi eh... But i'm sure in November, CTC will pick him... Forget Heading, Abando, Bolick, etc... They were not on CTC's list, Deal with it!!!! I also want Bolick and Abando but you know their status within SBP/PBA/SMC camp... Amos and Quiambao can't play on November because they are in the UAAP... Hoping Malonzo, Scottie and Edu will be available that time... we badly need them vs NZL...

Yeah, Pogoy did make up for his poor performances in the past when he shot more decently in the WC. The only egregiously bad play he had was that stupid steal attempt against Angola.

I wouldn't really mind a lot of PBA players. Just pick the right ones, meaning the ones who have performed well, and the ones whose skillset can reasonably translate to the FIBA stage. Of course, age and roster balance has to be considered as well, and you may have to drop underperforming players.

We hope that it will not be backfire in 2027... If CTC fails in 2027, He will get bash from the fans because of non inclusion of those players that fans want... He will get Chot treatment too... That's why being Gilas coach is more pressure... No coaches around the world will not want to deal here especially politics inside the camp... Siguro yung matatapang lang can handle this job and can handle the pressure.... CTC is pressure to deliver come 2027 despite limited options... He's dealing w/ SBP/PBA/SMC camp and fans clamor.. Naiipit din sya w/ this situation....

Couldn't really get a good gauge of the team because the Taiwan team composition is a bit weird. Their center is 7'4. Decent but I guess slow for high comp Euro standards. However they don't have a PF. It seems they employ an SF as a PF. I don't think Euro teams will do that. Kai's points came mostly from cross matches against an SF. I don't think he will have that easy a cross match with a Euro PF.

Secondly, Deguara's back-up is Chiu. Forgive me but at this point Chiu is far from international level. Yes he can move laterally. But he can't catch balls cleanly. I don't think Euro teams will have such a fall-off with their 2nd units.

Dwight also had lots of good looks at the corner 3. Given our lack of shooters I think Euro teams will chase him from there.

I'm not sure the JF Kai pairing will be as effective against the good Euro teams. For one, I think Euro PFs will be able to push Kai a bit from his comfort zone. At this point Kai still has the body of a finesse player without the skills. He doesnt have the handles nor the shooting. So based on his performance on this tune-up I won't be expecting much from him. But we'll see.

I see the similarity of yesterdays game from the asian games qf game we really play well in stretches but also polay as bad that makes the game a little bit boring (a imporvement compare to the near disaster last asian games qf)

Gotcha. LOL. Typical Sadik, whenever he is cornered and can't back his preposterous takes with solid actual facts. He will spew unintelligible statements and froth like a mad dog that he is. Saka anong bandwagoning ang pinagsasabi mo? Do you even understand the meaning of bandwagon or bandwagon effect? Ibabalik kita sa Grade 2 eh. Hahaha

In the wake of recent injuries, they are just throwing Pogoy into the mix because they don't want the KBL/B-League boys to dominate the lineup more than the PBA stars. Not because of your assertion that Tim prefers Roger over the likes of Heading, Abando etc.

Yeah the tuneup was nothing more than what it's supposed to be. It was competitive in spurts, but ultimately it won't change my mind that Gilas is getting blown tf out in the OQT. In this game vs the Mustangs, there wasn't anything I saw that convinced me this team is ready for high level FIBA games just because it was just a nice little show. Hopefully they figure it out in the tuneups vs Turkey and Poland or else the are getting smashed for us to see.

Ramos is the standard that Pinoy players should aspire to play like... simple game, effective movements, and he makes open shots. JB got his one on ones and was cooking. JMF's active hands bothered Deguara while Kai seriously tried to match him strength-for-strength with hands up but was more succesful as help defender when JMF was there. Tamayo at this point defends way better than Japeth. Even KQ and Amos got run-ins.

Hate to say this 'coz I'm a La Salle guy, but Newsome is the most important piece or this depleted team. He got players like Perez and Oftana involved... tried his best to stay on Lopez who exposed this team defensively... without him, no one else pushes the ball up court.

was not able to watch the game last night. based on the comments here, mostly from FB and the vlogs, I take it fans arent happy? I think the most consistent comment I could see was we had poor FT%. some Kai fans wanting their idol some more pt. its a tune up game, so not sure why PT is a prob. outside the FT% its CJ thats getting a lot of heat.

that said, i am sure we will get a bit better after the tune up games versus Turkiye and Poland. im not familiar with Poland but Turkiye should give us a really reality check before Latvia and Georgia. if we do well against them, we should be fine, and hopefully be in a position to pull the rug under Georgia. still a tall task but i think that is more realistic than Latvia.

Honestly, for me, it's just an assessment phase for the team, even the OQT. What do we need to work on, who do we need to add, what holes do we need to fill? We'll get a better view once we see the Turkey and Poland games, then the OQT.

ah, so the whole exercise is an assessment only. no reason to win then.bonus if we did.

That's what I think. I'm not expecting much. Effort from the players, assessment by the staff, that's it.

We play to win, go all out, it's a knockout tournament, but if we don't, no biggie.

They are trying to make the Ravenas and chot the scape goat .

Scottie was awful in the world stage but he’s the PBA’s poster boy . It’s really messed up you can move one way or another with the management of a team but the same politics on a different spectrum will be in play. Tim Cone was pushing for Kiefer to be cut in the wc . Pogoy was basically a none negotiable as they didn’t want Parks, heading, thirdy or even Abando taking mins over a pba guy.

Pogoy was decent tho. He played well

To everyone. I asked this before and i'll asked it again why is it pinoy coaches doesnt like kiefer's game unlike foreign coaches? Do they see something that pinoy coaches don't?

Who? Where? The BLeague? Like most Filipino players individually, Kiefer is just better than most of the Japanese players. The coaches there would rather have a high IQ Filipino point guard and they just happen to know how to integrate Kiefer within their system.

I thought the angst against kiefer was due to him being included in the 2019 FIBA WC roster despite being out of shape after a year of suspension due to dust. Pinoys were quick to raise the Nepotism card.

kiefer was really bad in 2019. his clash with CJ Perez and Andray cost us the Angola game. he should've known his place.

He was not in game shape in 2019 plus he lost his explosiveness when he stopped using dust. The stigma of doping and nepotism never left kiefer, and by association, thirdy.

It was valid.

Coach Yeng is also known for his favorites.

To be fair with Thirdy, it isnt by association, even in the Kings Cup tournament(handled by Tab) and the regime of Tab/Nenad thirdy seems to be odd man compare to the Ramos, will navarro, baltazar because of his spotty shooting.. you need him to be given the keys the way our team gave it to CJ (well except in world cup where he was actually the 12th man)..
