Don't tell me CTC doesnt like a shooter like heading. Every coach would love him..

If CTC likes him then why he’s not on the pool? If you follow his core from the past until now, He’s not type of a coach that just select spot up shooters only.. He wants 2 way players.. That’s why Pessumal is always at the bench because he can’t play D… Heading is not a very good defender… too small in his position…the only known shooter that CTC handles in his coaching career are Roel Gomez, John Arigo and Larry Fonancier only… all those 3 are 2 way players..

Tim Cone getting Pogoy. Hmmmm, onset of Alzheimers? haha

Sayang talaga si Pogoy. For his game, I wish he was 6'6. Instead Cone got a guy claiming to be 6'2 but looks more 6'0. Not sure how he helps Gilas even as a practice player, he doesn't resemble anything like Arturs Zagars... the guy is just 6'3 but can man-handle bigs with his intensity. A shorter Luka Doncic that's way more mobile as a natural FIBA guard should be.

If Cone wants two-way players, why are there only reliable 5 two-way players (as of now, barring future developments) in the pool? Just Scottie, Newsome, Dwight, JB, and AJ. I see Oftana, Carl, and Quiambao as system defenders at best. June Mar and Mason are flat out defensive liabilities at this stage. I just saw CJ Perez get cooked repeatedly by Chris Newsome and Chris Banchero. Kai is not there yet, he needs to work on his timing and rotations, and he needs more than just Scottie, Newsome, and Dwight to help him out in PnR defense.

Tapos to replace JB as the NP, we're eyeing Bennie Boatwright, who's not exactly a top-notch defender despite being a good shooter, but sir lurklurk did say that he can defend in schemes (I just don't know if this pool has the personnel to help him out on defense).

Have you seen his game here in nbl 1? Even from dubai?

I get it why PBA/SBP not getting players overseas, But I noticed that they not getting players outside MVP/SMC players… Is there any conflict between PBA/SBP and independent teams?

Cost cutting measures, they already spent so mucb money getting kai, dwight and the rest of the japan/korea boys. SMC and MPIC players are already paid anyway

Roger I bother Zagars and hopefully i can hit a three pointer or two pogoy.. I still hoping taht with tim and sean and jojo coaching him then he knew some triangle sets as a 1

Oftana, Quiambao and Tamayo should improve their defense… I know they can defend, but they have to go all of their effort on defense… Sometimes tinatamad eh… I want to see Oftana play more D, the way he did vs China last Asian games.. I think why Oftana not effortlessly play defense in TNT because he is also their number 1 scorer.. it’s hard to play both ends especially if you are main guy on offense.. now in Gilas, Oftana is not the go to guy, so he can now more focus on defense first.. Same with Quiambao since he is go to guy in DLSU, so he has to preserve his energy since La Salle needs him offensively… now with Gilas, he has now to think more defense since like Oftana, he is not their go to guy either… So if those three want to be part of 2027 roster, they have to focus more on defense…

That’s why we might already saw Clarkson’s last games as Gilas uniform… unless JC will play for Gilas atleast for lower price… I hope before JC retires, I want to see him play again for us… he has some unfinished business yet..

Offensively, He's great.. No question about it... But defensively? If Heading atleast 6'5 then for sure CTC will tap him 100%... Like we argue always with Pogoy, Heading is also 6'2 max, His position is SG, Atleast Pogoy is better defender than Heading...

"Pogoy is a better defender than Heading."

Did I read that correctly?

FYI
The SBP can't suggest Robert Bolick to the Gilas pool.

Trans: in short tim cone's hands are tight in terms of player selection

If it's SMC teams, including farm teams, the only reasonable additions are Navarro, Mav, Javi, and Carino at this point. Arvin may be included, but only if Oftana, Malonzo, Navarro, and Javi are unavailable.

Here you go again blabbering erroneous information. Heading can actually play good defense, not elite like Scottie or Newsome, but he can stay with his man, fight through screens and disciplined enough not to gambles with steals or get lost with the rotation like Perez. And he is definitely not too small for a combo guard in the Asian level(6'2). He is taller than Scottie and about the same height with CJ.

And John Arigo being a two-way player? LOL. The Arsenal's scouting report since college up to pro level always says that Arigo lacks effort and skills in defense. He is athletic and has the physical tools pa naman sana. He is also way taller than the opposing wings during his time in the PBA. John Arigo is known for his swag, poster dunks, and fluid jump shot but definitely not on the defensive end.

Yes, Heading is 6'2 max. And his height is really 6'2. Bakit si Pogoy ano ba height? Lol. 6'2 is a generous estimate for Roger's height.

If Roger Pogoy is at least 6'7, that's the only time that he should be considered to be a part of the pool. He can maybe play combo forward kung 6'7ish lang sana siya. Why? Because his laterals are suspect for a 6'2ish player. He can't defend the opposing shooting guards and versatile small forwards in FIBA. Pogoy plays power forward in his amateur days and transitioned poorly in the pro. Natago lang kasi hindi masyado tinatawagan sa PBA ang hand-check and all sorts of bumpings on defense. He will definitely be sliced and diced by the likes of Zagars and dunked on by the taller wings of Latvia or Turkey. Pogoy uses his hands for defense and has bricks for feet against opposing guards/wings. Roger will just resort to rough housing and will be on foul trouble if assigned against the wing scorer of the opposing teams. Plus his 3-point shooting is really not reliable even in the Asian level. Kung hindi papasok ang 3 point shot niya, he has nothing else to offer. Better defender than Heading? BS.

I'm not favor on Pogoy currently because he's too predictable and he's inconsistent.. But Heading is also same position as Pogoy.. Both only 6'2 and only special skills are their shooting, We saw last Dubai cup that Heading is not consistent on defense... Can't even guard Arakji.. It just the magic of Tab Baldwin and lastly Brain Goorjian hide his weakness to be effective, And you know CTC, He's not type of coach that just rely on shooting, CTC wants 2 way type of player, Don't be surprise if CTC will likely tap Lassiter than Heading... As we said, If Heading is around 6'5, He's definitely a shoo-in.. What if Heading is in off-night, Can he play D against 6'5 above off guards? Did you saw my comment i like Pogoy? As far as i know, It's CTC wants him...
